Game Dev I spent $1400 to build My PermaDeath ARPG with AI and now have over 17.000 players (playable both on Mobile & browser)

A month ago, Aestra: The Last Wish was just the game I wanted to play. I had no idea how to code, but I started building it anyway.

Today, over 17,000 people have played it. And while that number is wild to me, what really gets me is opening the game and seeing the minimap full of players.

People trading in the main city, dueling, finding groups and heading out to do content together. Seeing people actually spend time in this world, meet each other and come back to play more… it’s hard to describe how good that feels.

For anyone who missed my first post, Aestra is a real-time pixel action RPG with permadeath. You pick a class, quest, find gear, explore dungeons and take on raids. And then you get a little too confident, die, and start getting attached to a new character.

The first version cost me around $100 to build over a weekend. Since then, I’ve spent about $1,400 in total expanding it, with 9 classes, levels 1–100, talent trees, professions, world bosses and raids over the course of around 3-4 weeks.

I still have a list of probably 50 things I want to add. But seeing the game alive like this is already something I never really imagined. To everyone who’s played, shared feedback, brought a friend or lost a character to permadeath: thank you ❤️

If you’ve played, I’d love to hear your favorite moment so far. Or the story of how you lost your best character :)

Play Aestra free in your browser or on mobile

Just like I was saying, it is a fan made unlicensed game. Back when I was a kid, I used to sink so many hours into this multiplayer grinding game called Monster Honor Fight. It wasn't until recently that I realized just how massively overshadowed it actually is. Am I the only one who feels that way? If any of you guys used to play it, definitely drop a comment, and let me know if you have ever found another game that even comes close to it, let alone beats it. Honestly, I think it is absolute peak gaming, and it literally has everything a Pokemon game should have. So I honestly do not get why the community on YouTube, Reddit, and everywhere else just completely died out.

This is my current game list for a low-end device. Would you consider me a "mobile gamer"?

And if you can recommend any games, I'd appreciate it too.

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a mobile multiplayer game called Cough Zone.

The idea is simple: one team plays as Spreaders trying to infect a city, while the other plays as a health response team trying to contain the outbreak.

I'm trying to create something a little different from traditional multiplayer games, with a living city that reacts to what's happening around it.

The game is still in development for Android and iOS, but I wanted to share some concept artwork and hear what people think!

Would you play something like this?

I'm also looking for people who might be interested in becoming early playtesters. I'd love to invite some of you to try the game before release and hear your honest feedback on what works, what doesn't, and what could be improved.

If you're interested in testing it, feel free to leave a comment! I'd be happy to reach out when the game is ready for testing.

Looking forward to hearing what you think!

The new version 7 has a bunch of improvements:

❇️ 9 new levels! Continue through levels 19-27 with gradually faster drops and more lines to clear.

❇️ Completing the final level now plays the completion music and effects, then lets you replay the level or start a new game.

❇️ Your screen now stays awake while the game is active, including while waiting for a rematch.

❇️ Choose whether battles include garbage. Your level, garbage setting, and number of garbage holes are now remembered for your next invitation.

❇️ Improved "Resume Level" button. Infinite level replay means you can enjoy the game casually with no stress, at your own pace.

Game Dev I'm making a space ship building game, looking for feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've grown up with PC building games, from Garry's Mod to Factorio, KSP, Space Engineers and a bunch of others, but I could never find anything on mobile that scratched that itch. So for the past few months I've been trying to make my own called Overbuilt (stitched some gameplay clips together to show)

The game is fully physics based (within mobile limitations) and most of the systems are in place. It's still in-development but I'm looking for some early feedback to make it something truly special

Right now there's a campaign where you fight, mine, haul cargo and race, and each mission pushes you to build something better than before.

There's also an async PvP arena where your ship goes up against other players' designs (flown by AI) and a crew system where you can progress together with others against server-wide capital ships.

Lately I've started doubting the concept a bit though, and I wanted to hear from people who actually play games like these.

What would your ideal one be like? Do you prefer depth and complexity, or a more casual experience since it's surprisingly hard to make a game like this intuitive and fun on mobile, curious what you all think!
