I get that they had to simplify it heavily for console players (I think that was their reasoning behind it?) but I wouldn’t mind adding a bit of complexity to Mech outfitting. Really all one can do with a shiny “new” Battlemech after scraping whoever was in the cockpit out is change weapons (only if they’re the right type for its hardpoints) and figure out how much ammo and heatsinks you want. You want to put in a supercharger? Well too bad, you can’t because this mech doesn’t have a motive upgrade slot!

I wouldnt be opposed to having the ability to invest a lot of C-Bills into a mech to make it truly my own, a bit like how Hero versions of mechs are equipped with things that their other versions can’t have.

Why not just give console folk mod support? I mean, Ark Survival Ascended has it. It’s probably not that simple

And I'm enjoying every second of it. Got myself the Prime variant, and the only major change was dropping the SRMs out of it for more armor and cooling. Those twin gauss rifles, as well as 4HMLs and 2 MPLs are just a treat.

And of course we had to do her up pretty in the Clan Meth Weasel colors. Can't go dancing without a paint job

They earn me 3 extra salvage shares apiece, and make every single mech they pilot faster, stronger, much tougher, and FAR more accurate. Plus they HATE clanners and are far more likely to avoid death and injury. Currently can't think of a better setup for generalist AI pilots.

I found the KGC-A yesterday, and was playing around with a quad LB-10X build on a Steiner stadium arena match. Drew some aggro, but no structure damage. Last enemy is an Urbie. Trying to get a few arena bonuses, so I picked him down to only his small laser. Which he then used to headshot me, killing me instantly. I like to imagine that AI pilot will never have to buy his own Timbiqui Dark again, because that's the best bar story ever. Probably got his own booth in Valhalla now.

For the 1st/3rd person versions anyway. I just finished the latest DLC, it's freaking incredible. The last several DLCs have been absolutely killer. Good job guys.

Sooooo... After finishing the new DLC campaign (what a beautiful ending, btw, I'd love for that to be the actual retirement of Mason), we're now in the year 3060. That begs the question, HOW old is Mason now, exactly? And, more importantly, does anyone know his facial routine, cause it sure as hell must be awesome? 🤣 Or, to ask more seriously, do we know his exact age, and is there any canon explanation why he still looks no older than maybe in his early 40s by the end of the campaign?

I'm just about to get in to A&A in a 3015 campaign start. I've been farming Clan mechs and have just about everything I want in my mech bay for latest and greatest -

But I'm finding that for Serious Business I'm still going back to my upgraded IS mechs. For me it's Basilisk, Dragon Slayer, Nightstar, Sleipnir and my refined 100x BLR-D.

What are your old school go to mechs that you pull out when a mission is NOT going to just be happy funtime stompy robbit blasting but game face go all in to win?

So when A&A dropped i did a fresh career to play that madness as PGI intended. Much fun but I didnt really get to enjoy the new mech variants.

This morning my rolling career which I started about a week before A&A released, I finally got to and finished SoK. And to my surprise as I take contracts waiting for Chaos to start I am seeing A&A mechs. I suppose it makes sense, but i wasn't really thinking id get to use the new stuff til I got to 3058.

Finally....FINALLY I get to play with the fun stuff you bastards have been posting and making me regret i didnt restart my career a week earlier then I did

With the latest DLC ending, it seems there’s a lot of discussion on what base building/company management mechanics would look like in the game.

Obviously I don’t expect it’s realistic that PGI would begin having us deploy larger forces, as company-size teams would quickly necessitate a completely different mission design ethos. Still, I wish we had a way to really experience the increased size of Mason’s forces without fundamentally changing the game.

What if we were able to deploy mechs and pilots on missions across the Inner Sphere that we weren’t present for?

Games with big base-building elements like Metal Gear Solid V included a passive system that allowed you to gamble your soldiers and equipment on their own independent missions, earning you more resources. This really added to the feel of developing a mercenary company, provided a sink for different resources, and justified the massive amount of troops on your base despite the game being a one-man stealth adventure.

Wouldn’t that be perfect for MW5 Mercs? Imagine sending your academy trained pilots to complete contracts with your extra storehouse of mechs, earning you rare salvage based on how well equipped your team is for the job. All the while, nothing about the core gameplay loop needs revamped, as the system would basically function offscreen like academies do.

It would really add a sense of purpose to expanding as much as one does throughout a campaign, and make me care about all of my extra pilots way more.

I know it’s a random pie-in-the-sky idea, but it doesn’t seem so insane. I have to wonder if PGI has thought about implementing anything like this.

Background, this is my second play through of MW5. On my first play-through I reset after the Dragon's Gambit set of missions because things were too easy. On this second campaign I'm playing on hard difficulty and while it was rough at spots, the game felt much more engaging. I finished the SoK campaign and that was brutal but enjoyable, I liked the lethality of the clans and how aggressive play is when you start to add clan weapons to your mechs.

Now that those campaign missions are over and there's some time until the Chaos Reign set of missions, I want to keep adding clan salvage to my arsenal and... this is where the misery starts.

Procedural gen missions on hard are utterly ridiculous post invasion. Some missions I spawn out in the open in front of clan mechs plus support and I'm screwed. If I clear an objective and reinforcements land before I find cover I'm screwed. And dear god the elementals, AI lancemates can not hit them at all, so if I don't take them all down before they close distance they shred my team. If elementals aggro while I'm trying to engage mechs it's pretty much GG. I've tried multiple missions post invasion and I would say I'm getting squad wiped about half the time, something that very rarely happened up until this point.

I don't want to just surf the arena's while waiting for the CR campaign missions, so I thought I'd ask if I'm missing anything obvious here? It would feel silly to lower the difficulty just for this segment of the play-through, and I don't want to save-scum and restart missions

As the title says. I would like to find some screenshots of some of the mechs in the mech bay. The game did a really good job of selling the sense of scope of these machines, and I'm hoping to use some of these images to "introduce" the mechs in a tabletop campaign. (ideally POV is ground level)

I got the Atlas-K variant for my AI lancemate, and equipped him with Clan AMS. Problem is, the AMS seems bugged? The barrel for the AMS is stuck upright and it only tries to shoot at missiles at the last possible second before they hit the mech. This leads to almost all the missiles hitting because the AMS barely tries to intercept them unless they’re 2 feet away. The AMS seems to work normally on other mechs, but for some reason it seems really wonky on the Atlas-K.

No mods. And yes, I added clan AMS ammo and have seen it shooting missiles (poorly)

I want a DLC to focus on the early history of the Cavaliers, centered around the backdrop of the battle of Mallory's World and the Cavalier's role in the battle of Halsted Station. Push the games start date back to 3010, give us the lead-in with Nik Mason leading up to fleshing out the events on De Berry and Black Inferno.

Ian and Hanse Davion, Takashi and Yorinaga Kurita, the 2nd Sword of Light, the First Davion Guards, Marcus Spears, and Interstellar Expeditions. Jake Mason is pushing 70 in the current timeline and Ryana is even older, these people arent going to go on forever. Give us one of the most famous and formative events in Battletech history, and introduce some long-lost Star League designs like the Guillotine, Flashman, or Thug and some classic Succession era mechs like the Clint, Goliath, or OST-series mechs, plus new vees, vtols, infantry, and weapons.

I swear in the name that's all and holy this game DOES NOT want to give me my basic Warhammer IIC. I've seen more Blood Asps in my circuit of induatrial hubs around Tukkayid than IIC. Even battles don't work, when they do show up it's the same variant....the A. I swear I'm cursed I finally get my ride in the game and it won't let me have it.

I wanted to max out the range on the NCT-WD for energy weapons headhunting and I was curious: what's actually the biggest TC you can get without mods? I googled it but found contradictory articles. Maybe you guys can help me out if I can mount the clanner MK 7 or if there's a MK 8 to keep my eyes peeled for.

What is the name of the track that plays during the initial cinematic? You know the one that begins playing after Hanse's announcement of gifting the CC to Melissa. Right when Jackson Davion says 'Lancers we have been called to war.'

I've looked through the OST of the DLC on youtube, am I just missing the exact part where that track plays? Is the track not a part of that OST? Am I being dumb, or am I looking for it in the wrong place?

Subsequently, what are your favourite OSTs from MW5? I like this one, Judgement and Retribution and Nemesis from A&A.
