You joke, but if I could afford to become an Aussie, I would.

It would be nice to live in an English speaking country where the leaders have not fallen so low as Trump and the population is smart enough to understand that would be a bad thing.

Imagine knowing how wrong it is and being stuck in it.

Part of me agrees, but my big fear would be the critters.  Don’t they have the most venomous snakes and spiders there?

Yes but they don’t elect them to public office.

Day to day the spiders and snakes aren't an issue for 99% of us... personally I'd be more worried about bears and the various wild cats you guys have (although I'm guessing they're also not a problem for 99% of the population).

We have bobcats in my area, but those don’t tend to be much of a threat.  For snakes, it’s water moccasins and copperheads.  I think our worst spider is the brown recluse.

Your wildlife makes ours look weak.

One of the worst beasties is actually about the size of your thumb nail..the Irukandji jelly fish.. innocuously often referred to as marine stingers. These evil little feckers will sweep by and sting you without you ever seeing them. It's typical to end up in hospital from the pain and it's a type of pain that doesn't respond to opiates so you have to tough it out. There was a crew member fishing off the deck of a bulk carrier up north who got splashed by a wave containing these jellyfish and they had to helivac him from the ship... that's a rough day fishing. Realistically day to day life we're not at risk... we do follow some basic safety practices like making sure any shoes left outside are free from visitors, keeping an eye open for snakes sunning themselves on hiking paths, don't swim up north during stinger season, don't go near the water where there's crocs etc. But hey we don't have tornadoes!

That’s one thing Whitetrashlahoma is known for unfortunately.

What do a hurricane in Florida, a tornado in Oklahoma and a divorce in Alabama all have in common? ... either way someone is about to lose a trailer!

Yeah we do, but unless you're in the bush, or placing your hands in questionable places, you're safe. I'd think your rattle snakes are more of a problem.
