MacroFactor Workouts / Training MFWO Workout Duration Poll

When generating a MacroFactor Workouts program with smart warm-ups enabled and the default exercise rest timers, can you typically complete your sessions within the preferred workout duration range you selected? If not, do you usually need more time to complete your workouts, or are you often able to finish them faster than the duration you selected?

My workouts approximately match the duration I selected.
My workouts take longer than the duration I selected.
My workouts are qucker than the duration I selected.
I do not use the smart warm-ups and default exercise rest timers (which are relevant to this poll).

Mine are always longer but that’s fine. I select 40-60 minutes and know that means an hour 30 for me so I can warm up and down and take my time on compound lifts

It seems like the expected duration doesn't allow for having to move weights etc. around to setup for the next exercise (I have a rack at home with a single barbell).

Would be nice if it learned how long I typically take or maybe there could be a global: I've got one barbell kind of setting so that it could work out that transitions will take longer than if I had multiple barbells and multiple sets of weights.

Always take longer mainly because of loading and unloading plates (and the more than occasional fishing around the gym for the smallest of the small bumper plates.
A deadlift session can take up to 30 mins between the multiple warmups (and it's weird load requirements of random plates), the rest and the workout, so if I want my workout to last 1h I choose 45 min etc

This changes the parameters of the question a bit, but in the rest timer settings, there’s an option to “rest between exercises”. I find the estimated time for each workout is more accurate when this is set to on. I don’t rest the time indicated; I just find the setting builds in some “flex time” for moving around the gym, loading plates, etc.

When equipment I need is generally free, I often finish +/- 5 minutes compared to the duration. When everything I want to use is taken, it can add 10-20 minutes while I fudge around.

Overall, I'd say fairly accurate if overestimated slightly.

Mine are often a few minutes quicker, but also I often remove a warmup set (sometimes both) if I feel like it's unnecessary e.g. doing skull-crushers later in a workout after I've already benched

This comment right here explains why anyone answers anything other than “longer than projected”.

Honestly with the warm-ups I'd still be roughly on time or slightly early. I'm probably not as deliberate in my eccentrics as I should be. So I voted "on time"

https://reddit.com/r/MacroFactor/w/index/rule_2 Treat other group members with respect

Short version:

You cannot be combative or antagonistic toward other members of the community. Spirited discussions about fitness, nutrition, or the app itself are all totally fine. Personal attacks are not.

Further elaboration:

This includes insulting someone’s intelligence, or posts/comments carrying the assumption that another member of the community is acting in bad faith. It’s fine to disagree about things, but do so respectfully. Of note, this applies even if you’re correct – being on the right side of an argument doesn’t give you license to be disrespectful to everyone else involved.

Comments that sexualize other members (yes, even if someone posts a picture in a bathing suit or undergarment) and natty policing (stating or implying that someone uses steroids if they haven’t volunteered that information) also fall under this umbrella

MFWO does decrease the number of warmup sets for accessory movements that it thinks you’ve already worked (e.g. flys after benching), but maybe the logic/parameters are too specific, as in the skull crushers after benching example given.

Interesting, I haven't noticed it at all but I'll have to keep a look out

On a related note, I often do an overhead triceps exercise followed by a pushdown. I sometimes feel the overhead in my elbows, so I often do the warmup sets for the pushdown first just to loosen up my elbows. After doing those two warmup sets, when I go back to the overhead, one of the warmup sets is removed dynamically (I just opened a workout and confirmed this behavior). So there definitely is some adjustment if warmups based on what has been completed to that point, not just what was planned to be done prior.
