Monthly anything goes thread (things that are not an event go in here)

Hello, you amazing and beautiful people.

I am automod, and this is the monthly stickied anything goes post.

For main posts on the sub, we only allow posts that are about meetups, where everyone is invited and aren't self-promotion events.

While at the same time, people do want some of those threads! This is the anything goes (well as last as it's still being a nice human!)

So post whatever is not an event over here! Questions, looking for someone to play chess with 1-2-1, whatever you desire.

As a reminder, here's the "What is LSC" post as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/LondonSocialClub/comments/u6f3zo/what_is_londonsocialclub_2022_remix/

[18/10/26] Book Club Meetup - 4PM @ Finsbury Circus Gardens

Hello! We are back with the third edition of the Book Club Meetup.

The goal remains the same - to meet up and speak about what you’re currently reading, have been reading in the past, want to read, etc. We bring our books/kindles and go around the group speaking of the titles. Some people bring snacks or drinks. Some bring friends. But most come solo so don’t be shy!

Last few editions have seen some good debates and I personally have been introduced to some really interesting titles. What I love most is that the discussion never lingers around just books, we have always moved onto other things - films, politics, london, etc.

When: 18th of October 2026, Sunday, 4PM

Where: Finsbury Circus Gardens, EC2M 7DT (Nearest station is Moorgate)

I’m 24F, really into cinema, reading, techno, and traveling.

There’s a whatsapp group if you’d like to join (dm me for the link), but feel free to just show up. The only rule is that you don’t be an asshole.

See you:)

[16/10/26] Regular Friday dinner 🍕

Heyo!

I’m (M33) thinking of organising a regular Friday dinner, restaurants around or near the Central.

A few ideas to keep things simple:

  • When: Fridays, around 7:30 pm
  • Group size: Ideally 4–6 people. Any more than that can get tricky to manage.
  • Budget: Around £25 per person

The idea is to enjoy some good food, discover new places, and have a relaxed evening with good company.

The plan for the first night is Franco Manca Covent Garden, if all happy.

[18/10/26] Paint your own Ghost Portraits on Frames@ Blighty, Finsbury Park

I think getting creative is such a fun way to help us beat the 'Sunday Scaries' and that is the main goal at our events - to show yourself what you are capable off, get messy and creative and have good crack and conversation along the way ❤️

On that note, are you in the mood for something different this sunday?!?!

I got ya guys - I am hosting a Paint your own ghost portrait afternoon on 18th October @ 2pm

Think cute frames, the craziest or maybe cutest ghosts you can think up, a complimentary hot or cold drink and good conversation

No experience needed at all — it's really about relaxing, getting a bit creative, and connecting with like-minded people.

Location: Blighty Cafe, N4 2JF (5 min walk from Finsbury Park station)

Date & Time: 18th Octover, 2-4pm

We'll have all the materials ready — just bring yourself (and maybe a friend if you fancy it).

If you're interested, drop a comment or send me a message and I'll share the details ✨

^_^ [18/10/26] Day trip to Camnden Town! Around 10am

Hello all! I'll be in London for a week starting this Saturday, and I really want to go to Camden for the day or at least most of the day so I'd love a peep or two to hang out with.

About me: You can call me Kay! I'm 27, a gamer and artist at heart and I love animals and anything nerdy. I can very easily ramble about my fandoms to you!

The plan: Meeting at Camden Town Station and go from there! Mainly I want to go to the Bandai Namco store so extra points if you're nerdy and love gacha. Time above is a guideline because I don't know when I'll wake up, all I know is transport will take 30mins from where I'll be.

So please comment here or reach out if interested! Just please don't be a creepy bloke. 😖

[18/10/2026] Sunday Pub Quiz at the Canonbury Tavern

This Sunday is World Okapi Day. An Okapi looks a bit like a deer but with horizontal zebra-like stripes on its legs, and is closely related to the giraffe. In the wild, they are found only in DRC.

Come and join us at the Canonbury Tavern for the pub quiz!

What:

Pub Quiz - Exactly as it sounds! A quizmaster asks the questions and teams write down their answers. Questions cover a range of subjects and the quiz features picture and music rounds. It is all for fun and there is no pressure to memorise the encyclopaedia before coming.

Where:

The Canonbury Tavern https://maps.app.goo.gl/xocQRtc3PDJrQF676?g_st=ic

Our tables are usually immediately on the left as you enter the pub, but you can ask staff for LSC when you arrive - there is usually someone with a laptop who has a record of bookings.

When:

Every Sunday, the pub quiz starts at 19:00, with the picture sheet being given out around 18:40. Tables are booked under "LSC" from 18:30. Two tables are booked but we will try to make any number work. We recommend arriving around 18:30-18:45 as you'll get to take a greater part in answering the picture sheet questions, but it's also really helpful in working out how many teams we'll have - as well as chatting beforehand!

How much:

£2.50 per person payable to the pub quiz people (Cashless only).

Who:

All are welcome. We typically make two teams with around 12 people.

Do I need to sign up / am I too late?:

Ideally, please leave a comment either on this post or in the WhatsApp group to let us know you're coming, and with how many people - with as much notice as possible - so we know how many teams we will be and roughly how many per team. It's not a huge problem to turn up after it starts, but try to be there on time to avoid missing the fun!

Do I need to be a whizz-kid, intellectual genius, or quizzing-extraordinaire?:

Nope, we do the quiz for fun.

Any Questions:

Write them into a comment and we will answer them - we are kind of into that.

We also have a WhatsApp group chat. Ask around on the day in person to be added.

[17/10/2026] London → Windsor | Day Ride | Cycling

Hey Cyclists! Organising a ride out to Windsor Great Park this Saturday (17 Oct) and looking for people to join.

The details:
Start: 9:00 AM sharp (rolling out 9:10)
Distance: ~122km out and back, about 510m of climbing. Mostly flat.
Pace: Moderate, 20 to 22kmph average. We regroup at junctions, and no one gets dropped.
Expected finish: around 4:30–5 PM, depending on how long the café stop runs.

Bring: a spare tube, a pump or CO2, snacks, and water.

This isn’t a race. It’s a solid day out on the bike with good company. That said, 120km is 120km. You should be comfortable riding for 6+ hours. Not for beginners.

Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41752603

If the weather turns properly bad or anything else, I’ll post an update by Friday evening.

Drop a comment or DM if you’re interested.

[31M] by the way.

Edit - I will create the group on the day we meet so anyone wants to join just comment and lets start together at the starting point which gpx mentions. Thanks!

Going Ahead [23/10/2026] Darkling @ The Bush Theatre, 7.30pm

Hello good people of LSC,

I have two tickets to the play Darkling (https://www.bushtheatre.co.uk/event/darkling/) playing at the bush theatre until 24th October. The story is set with the Bhopal Gas Leak as backdrop. I have two tickets, but unfortunately me and my friend won't be able to make it. I got the tickets for 70 quid (35 each, ie), but very happy to sell it for a lower price. Have been to Bush theatre a bunch of times before, they have a fantastic pub and the Shepherd's Bush Market next door, is one of the most unique markets in London, and one of my favourite places to try world cuisine. Would highly recommend anyone trying to plan a date/casual evening. DM me for more details.

[17/10/26] Coffee and stroll @ St James’s Park

TL;DR: casual, no-RSVP St James’s Park walk and chat on Saturday from 11am; open to everyone (any age/gender/anything), just show up.

17/10/2026, this Saturday, from ~11 am, St James’s Park (Westminster SW1). The plan: a very casual stroll and informal conversation.

If you have any questions, the FAQ section, most likely, answers them.

——

How to attend: show up on time (11 am) by the entrance with the fountain. We will wait there for approximately 20 minutes or so before starting a stroll in the park. Coffee is not compulsory and you can bring it with you. My name is Rina.

The nearest tube station: St James’s Park (District/Circle).

Coordinates:

51.5012250, -0.1340172

(you can copy and paste it into whichever map you use).

____

FAQ

Q: Anything needs to be done to join?

A: Nope. Just show up on time.

Q: How long will the event last?

A: It’s a walk, so everyone is free in their decisions, especially if there are other plans. Normally, we walk in the park for about an hour or two just because we feel like it.

Q: How many people are expected to attend?

A: Since there’s no registration, I can never be sure about it. I don't track any attendance. Normally, it’s about 5 or 10 people? Something along those lines.

Q: I am [age][gender], am I too young/old? What if my English is limited? Will I be welcome?

A: Sure, everybody is welcome. There's no RSVP or registration so there’s no need to DM me any of your details: you can simply show up. For your privacy, it might be best not to state your age and gender in the comment section: I don’t need this information.

Q: Is it a networking event? Is it affiliated with [industry]?

A: No, it’s not. It’s just me strolling through the park and inviting others to join me. One can just show up, be there, and leave exactly as much or as little connected as they'd like.

Q: What if it rains?

A: Nothing is cancelled. Bring umbrellas. Wear layers.

Q: Is there a group chat or online community for this?

A: It's a stroll in a public green space.
There is an additional, non-obligatory chat that attendees can ask to be added to while attending a stroll in person. The actual conversation happens offline. That's the goal. No hidden infrastructure, no extra agenda, no long-term programme.

Going Ahead [24/10/26] Central London Group Photowalk

Hi All, this is a repost from yesterday as I missed some important info in my first post which may have given the wrong info.

I used to run these semi-regular London photowalks from this subreddit a few years ago and it was becoming quite popular. I’m looking to do some Photowalks again in the coming months and would love to invite you all to join!

You may have seen some of my posts in the London subreddit over the years too.
here
and here so if you’d like to tag along and hopefully we can catch some nice shots together

This is a free event and If you would like to join on Saturday 24th October for a few hours around central I had a WhatsApp to keep track of the photo walk. There’s currently 71 members made up of past attendees.

If you can’t join this event, you can still join the WhatsApp group!

It’s hard to respond to all the requests to be added to the WhatsApp group so I created a simple form to fill out to get invited in. Please fill out the short form here

Once you have signed up, you will be added to the Whatsapp group where you are free to chat to anyone about photography, or whatever else you fancy or even host your own photowalk

It will take place around central from around 11am and will last for a few hours or until you feel tired or fulfilled :) no pressure. Come and go as you please, but there will be a group walk and depending on turnout, we may have to break out into smaller groups and them regroup later on in the afternoon. Thats a problem for another day :D

Will edit this post as the details get finalised.
