Discussion I built a MIDI browser after getting tired of Logic’s awkward MIDI preview workflow
I’ve been using Logic for years, and one thing that has always bothered me is browsing normal MIDI files.
If you have a larger MIDI library, filenames usually tell you very little about what is actually inside. My workaround for a long time was dragging batches of MIDI files into Live Loops, putting an instrument on the track and auditioning them there. It works, but it is obviously not a very convenient browser.
So I eventually built a small plugin specifically around that workflow.
cueMIDI lets you browse MIDI files from folders, preview them in sync with Logic through the instrument you are actually using, transpose them if needed, and drag the MIDI you want straight into the project.
For Logic there is a dedicated AU MIDI FX version, so it sits directly in the MIDI FX slot (there's also a VST3 version).
I deliberately kept it pretty minimal. No database, no tagging system, no MIDI generation, no library management/ database. It is basically just the workflow I always wanted Logic to have for MIDI files.
There is a demo if anyone wants to try it:

Happy to answer any Logic-specific questions about how it works.
