πŸ—žοΈ News Las Vegas Tourism Stats Update (Dec 2025)

Some graphs to highlight the current state of Las Vegas tourism. The three graphs highlight the tourism drawdowns relative to their peak levels historically for that month.

The graphs are:

  • Total Monthly Visitors (down 10.8% from peak levels for December)
  • Hotel Occupancy Rates (down 9% from peak levels for December)
  • Airport Passengers (down 11.7% from peak levels for December)

Las Vegas overall still looks to be in a medium recession with tourism down ~10%.
I would generally consider slowdowns on the following scale:

  • 0-4% down = slowdown
  • 4-9% down = mild recession
  • 9-20% down = medium/heavy recession
  • 20%+ down = depression

Data is from Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA)

πŸ›« Visiting soon! How much do I tip the street performers for photos?

β€’ Upvotes

I’ll be visiting Vegas for the first time and wanted to ask how much I should tip the costumed characters, showgirls, superheroes, etc., if I want to take photos with them.

I understand they can’t legally demand a specific price, but what would be considered a reasonable and polite tip? I’ve seen videos of some of them quoting rates like β€œ$60 and $60,” which seems way too expensive for some quick photos.

Would $10 - $15 be a reasonable amount, or is that considered too little?

I went on a bit of a storm chase yesterday while the last remnants of hurricane Rachel passed through the spring mountains. Here’s what it looked like over the entire stretch of ridge line leading up to Mt. Charleston

🫣 What The… Tunnels

I was wondering if the unhoused folks that live in the drainage tunnels in Vegas are given any warning of upcoming rain. Seems like it could be a very bad situation if not.

πŸ’ Sports Raiders tickets - when is best to buy?

Coming all the way from Scotland to see the raiders came on the 27th vs the titans. Keeping track of prices and we are unsure whether to just bite the bullet and buy tickets now, or see if prices will go down. Does anyone have any local knowledge / suggestions on what to do would be much appreciated !

πŸ” Lost and Found Where can I find a replacement sticker like these ones online?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I really didn’t know what to flair this. Let me know if I should change it!

I visited Las Vegas a few years ago and had a good time. It was for a work trip but it was a once in a lifetime opportunity so we did some touristy things of course and I got some souvenir stickers for my toolbox. Well, I’ve upgraded my toolbox now and despite trying very hard to save and transfer my favourite stickers to the new toolbox, it just isn’t working how I want. So I figure I’ll try to find replacements online that look like my original stickers. Only thing is, I am having difficulty finding replacements!

Anybody have a link they can toss me for this one?

πŸ›« Visiting soon! Returning one-way rental car on the Strip instead of at LAS

I’ll be visiting over the Thanksgiving holiday and driving into Vegas from Arizona in a rental car. My initial thought was to get a one-way rental car from PHX to LAS, then return the car and Uber to the Strip when I get into Vegas, but that seems like a hassle.

Are there particular hotels/rental car companies that would allow me to drive to the Strip directly and return the car there, even if I’m not starting my trip in Vegas? (Hoping to stay at Park MGM or somewhere else close to T-Mobile Arena, so this area of the Strip preferred please!)

πŸ“š Trip Report Has anyone rented a car from ACE rental car in las vegas?

I have rented a car from ACE and their office doesn't open until 8am, my flight starts boarding at 9:40 so I have to drop the car off before they open. On the website it says you cannot drop the car off until they open at 8am. Has anyone dropped the car off before 8am? If so what did you do?

Successful and easygoing guy staying at an upscale hotel on the strip at the end of Oct or early Nov to escape the realities of a crumbling marriage. Planning to see a couple concerts and otherwise hit the pool and fun restaurants.

Very nice, respectful, and fun.

DM for pics or to chat.

At first I was thinking they're related to the fire department, but there's no fire lane so maybe it's something else?

πŸ›« Visiting soon! Vegas Trip - April 2027

Hi!

Planning a trip to Vegas for John Mayer at the sphere. Planning to be there during the week. I need help picking a hotel.

- previously stayed at MGM grand- I honestly had no complaints.
- looking for clean, modest room. Honestly planning on being in the room to sleep and shower. So I do not care about size or fancy in-room amenities
- couple in their early 30s. We enjoy a tame Darty. Not looking to club or party late.
- occasional gambler. Will play some tables, but minimally
- looking for a pool (wishful thinking it will be hot and pools will be open).
- modest budget. I’d like to be under $200 a night with resort fees
- not sure if this matters, but I do have loyalty with Marriott.
