Harm Reduction LSD information for newbies

6.4k Upvotes

I made this to hopefully see a decline in redundant/daily posts, and make some sort of positive impact. Please remember to use the search function if you have a basic question regarding LSD.

• A full beginner dose should typically be 1/2 - 1 single tab.

• The average dose range of LSD on a single tab is 70-105μg.

• There are tabs dosed with as little as ~20μg, or more than 300μg in some absurd cases. The overwhelming majority of sources try to lay their tabs around 100μg because it’s mathematically simple, and more profitable in the long-run.

• The odds your tab has more than 200μg on it are very low. The most common higher dose tabs are 125-200μg. Take half of any tab that’s supposedly above 200μg just to be safe at first, and if that doesn’t at least produce an 11-12 hour mildly visual trip, the full tab wasn’t above 200.

• A typical microdose should be 10-25 μg

• 50-300μg of LSD can last anywhere from 8-14 hours. 300-1000μg can last anywhere from 14-20 hours. Exceeding a milligram (1000μg) can produce effects that last up to 24 hours. It’s usually hard to fall asleep under the influence.

• Unless you have an above average baseline tolerance or handle the substance extraordinarily well, it’s not advisable to exceed ~300-500μg. Temporary delirious/psychotic symptoms become more likely if you don’t know what you’re getting into with large doses, and a 16+ hour duration doesn’t help.

• 25i-NBOMe is a relatively dangerous LSD imposter. If you take an untested tab and your mouth/throat becomes numb, along with an intense bitter taste, spit it out immediately. Do not panic, but monitor your physical state. A *normal* dose of 25i shouldn’t be life-threatening. Most of the dangerous LSD imposters, including 25i, only become life-threatening at higher doses (this is why you should NEVER take multiple untested tabs at once, or take untested tabs at all).

• Please test your tabs with an Ehrlich reagent kit to verify that what you have is indeed an indole and not 25i-NBOMe. Follow up with the Hofmann reagent kit to verify that it’s not an LSD analogue or other phenethylamine. I personally recommend using TKP for your reagents: https://testkitplus.com/ Another great organization is DanceSafe https://dancesafe.org/ — DanceSafe genuinely saves lives with their testing booths at music festivals.

• Common positive effects include but aren’t limited to: closed and open eye visuals, tactile enhancement/hallucinations, euphoria, stimulation, introspection, and creativity.

• Common negative effects include but aren’t limited to: overstimulation, increased heart rate, vasoconstriction, anxiety/paranoia, and confusion.

• Common neutral/manageable effects include but aren’t limited to: pupil dilation, frequent urination, insomnia, and temperature sensitivity.

• Always optimize your set (expectations and mental state) going into an experience, and always optimize your setting (direct environment/surroundings) going into an experience.

• LSD interactions with various medications (From Erowid):

  1. There is still very little legitimate, thorough medical research on this subject. LSD's outlaw status makes it very difficult to obtain permission & funding for research. Therefore, you should regard all of the anecdotes and conclusions here as being scientifically unproven, and you should note that any experimentation you choose to do carries a significant risk.
  2. Lithium or tricyclics (like Amitriptyline, Anafranil, Asendin, Aventyl, Elavil, Endep, Norfranil, Norpramin, Pamelor, Sinequan, Surmontil, Tipramine, Tofranil, Vivactil) are fairly consistently reported as being very bad in combination with LSD. Life-threatening seizures and at least one DEATH have been reported to be triggered by the combination of LSD and lithium. Tramadol is another drug you should avoid in combination with LSD because of the potential for seizures and other negative side effects.
  3. SSRIs (like Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa, Desyrel) or MAOIs (like Nardil, Parnate, Marplan, Eldepryl, Aurorix, Manerix) are fairly consistently reported to noticeably reduce the effects of LSD. (There are no physically dangerous reactions to these combinations on record, but be cautious and don’t be excessive with dosing.)

• HPPD risk is associated with frequent use of psychedelics (more than once a month), high doses, and younger age groups. HPPD varies in severity between individuals. As long as you use this drug responsibly, this shouldn’t be a concern.

• LSD has the potential to produce a very challenging psychological experience. If you have mental-health issues, research the risks and benefits associated with psychedelic treatment of your condition. Do NOT take LSD without the guidance of a medical professional if you are seriously suicidal.

• Weed often potentiates the effects of LSD. Some users report that the effects of weed are indefinitely altered to some degree after their first few experiences with LSD (It often becomes more psychedelic).

• Various benzos like alprazolam and clonazepam can be used as “trip-killers,” but you don’t need to take more than a single medical dose, and not all of the psychoactive effects will be negated. This should be a last resort.

• LSD tends to make verbal communication challenging, so prepare appropriately if using in a social setting.

• If you’re 19 or younger you should probably wait until AT LEAST your early 20s to try LSD because of unforeseen behavioral/neurological impacts. Waiting until 25+ is optimal.

• You’ll build a substantial tolerance to LSD if you trip multiple times in two weeks, so wait 10-14 days between trips for a general reset. Tolerance does exponentially decrease day-by-day following an experience.

• If you want to redose to increase the effects, do it before or during the start of the peak. Redosing after the peak will only prolong the duration unless you increase the dose. Excessive dosing is unadvisable regardless.

• Peak effects generally occur 2.5-5 hours after dosing (less than or around 300μg). Peak effects can last anywhere in the range of 2.5-8 hours after dosing. Many people say the peak comes in “waves.”

• If you’ve tried psilocybin containing mushrooms before, certain dosage calculators based on subjective effects and intensity equate ~2.5 grams of an average cubensis variety to ~100μg of accurately dosed LSD, but there are differences between the substances of course.

• You should consider having a trusted friend or a close partner “tripsit” you during your first experiences, or at least let someone know your whereabouts beforehand if you want to do it alone. (Note: Trip-sitting should just involve being close by and present if the user needs assistance or someone to talk to, sitters shouldn’t try to influence the trip unless it’s getting chaotic.)

• LSD has the potential to be therapeutic, recreational, spiritual, or all/none of the above depending on the individual and their particular circumstances. Stop gatekeeping.

•If you are ever having a challenging trip and need to speak with someone, here are a couple great resources:

https://firesideproject.org/

https://tripsit.me/

Leave suggestions in the comments!

edit: A couple people are aggravated with minor details in these general points of advice, so please take everything I’ve said with a grain of salt and do your own research! I’m simply providing a helpful starting outline, not set-in-stone facts.

Thank you all, and safe travels!

⚡ Sub Announcement ⚡ Don't believe the dosages you see on here

1.8k Upvotes

Over exaggerating dosages is only harmful to the community and is much more prominent in LSD oriented communities when compared to other psychedelics. This is because you cannot simply weigh your dosages, like shrooms or DMT. 2c-b being another good example, where it usually comes in ranges of 15-30 milligrams or powder I believe. Most tabs of LSD contain 75-150 UGs of LSD, averaging more around 100. 100 micrograms of LSD is equal to around 2.5 grams of Psilocybe Cubensis. (The most commonly sold and cultivated "magic mushroom")

Starting with one tab after you've tested it is better than going headfirst into the deep end... Even at 100 micrograms it does add up quickly, would you recommend five grams of shrooms to a beginner? No difference in recommending them 200 micrograms of LSD (two average tabs). I really just don't understand the glory of taking larger dosages than we need. Look at r/Shrooms or other communities related to shrooms and you see this much less. Mainly to do with the ability to weigh them out I believe, but definitely many other factors. I don't know... Thanks for reading.

Best regards,

LSD helped me quit alcohol and doomscrolling. Could it also rewire my autonomic nervous system?

Self-therapy with LSD has helped me rewire my brain and overcome my addictions to alcohol and, subsequently, doomscrolling. Now I’m considering taking this a step further.

Recently, I got a wristband that continuously monitors my physiological metrics, and I’ve noticed that both my baseline respiratory rate and resting heart rate are relatively high. Neither is medically concerning, as both fall within the normal range, which I’ve also confirmed with my doctor.

This got me thinking: could I use an LSD experience focused specifically on this issue to rewire my brain at a subconscious level, encouraging my body to naturally adopt a slower, deeper breathing pattern? My hypothesis is that this could, in turn, lower my baseline respiratory rate and potentially my resting heart rate.

For context: I’m a healthy, physically fit young man who maintains a healthy lifestyle. I suspect my naturally elevated baseline rates are largely influenced by genetics rather than lifestyle factors.

I’m curious whether psychedelic-induced neuroplasticity could influence such deeply ingrained autonomic patterns, or whether these physiological processes are largely beyond the reach of conscious or subconscious rewiring.

LSD while having a urinary tract infection: I do not recommend it

The urinary tract infection started 3 hours after taking LSD—right in the middle of the come-up. Being no stranger to this recurring infection, I took my usual antibiotic, which normally brings relief within an hour. Well, well... it’s been 6 hours now, and there’s been no change. Thanks, universe, for this poisoned gift. I am literally burning from the inside.

❔ Question ❔ Suggestions of things to do for total newbies ?

Hi guys, I’ve been doing LSD here and there (1-3 times yearly) for about three years now. Tomorrow I’ll trip sit for my three flatmates.
I already briefed them and gave them suggestions as to what to do and so on.
But I’m sure I forgot about many things and I’m also curious to see new ideas, so please don’t hesitate

Tripping years later

I believe it’s been about 9 years since my last trip. Before then I would take maybe 2 trips a year since I first tried it. I recently got a hold of some but am not ready quite yet, I will be preparing for a few weeks or months to get my mind in the right place. Has anyone else had a huge gap between trips? If so any differences?

Solo trip 🙋‍♂️ Weird computer stuff

• Upvotes

Last time a did about 3 tabs that claim to be 100 micrograms each, the whole day was weird and I was still tripping the next and couldn’t get much sleep but my main concern is when I had to go to school, I was on one of those shitty Chromebooks and none of keys were working, so naturally I just start spamming random keys to see if anything actually works, the phrase government/N appeared in my search tab, and I notice and try to click any other keys but they still just don’t work, until I click the G and it works, so I start spamming random keys again, opening new tabs but nothing is working I eventually just click the G again and start catching on, keep clicking any letter to try to get something else to happen but nothing does. So I hit the R and then I just kinda stared it for a bit like “wtf did computer just call me a hard R” it didn’t actually lead to anything but this whole experience was really bizarre because usually taking acid just messes with my head and my thoughts, but this was physically happening in the real world and honestly kinda scared me, does anyone know why this happened or had a experience similar?

Is there truth to the urban legend of people drinking like half a vial of pure LSD and doing like 1,000 doses+ at once?

What would even happen to you if you had like 100, 500 or 1,000 doses in one sitting? I heard once beyond a certain level the brain can't actually process more at once, so there is a maximum threshold of possible intensity but I would think the trip could last days and it might be psychologically harrowing.

When is it appropriate to take the second tab?

I took my first one about 80 minutes ago I did eat a meal beforehand, i mostly feel heavy and the sizes of things are a little off and visions a little funky. And I also cant stop laughing and looking at myself lol.
I wanted more intense visuals, ive always had a good relationship with acid i havent done it to much though.
If it smart to take the second one now? or should I be waiting any longer?

❔ Question ❔ Causes heart health issues?

Last time I tripped was on shrooms, it had been months since I'd tripped and it was my first time with shrooms, all went well (Thought I was gonna die, but it made not dying much more magical).

I noticed my heartrate was extremely high and Im not sure but It could have also been irregular (bear in mind I was having an ego death and jerking off so im really not sure).

It just made me worry and now I have got to know if psychedlics can cause heart arythmiya, or other heart problems before I try LSD again. Im fairly sure nobody has died off just LSD and weed but I would like to read some research papers on the subject and hear firsthand from people on the sub.

Harm Reduction Staying safe with LSD!

So first and foremost TEST YOUR SHIT. Test kits are super cheap and easy. Even though n-bombs are a lot less regular these days don't put yourself at risk for this or other garbage. You matter!

Also regular product despite what is said about it is usually between 50-75 ug.

THAT BEING SAID....... There are a few LSD test projects that people would send in their stuff to be tested and they catalogued all the various stuff.

There was some stuff coming in at 11 ug... Yes 11 ug..... Others were coming in above 200 ug.... The regular is still 50-75 ug but just be aware there can be MASSIVE variation.

A good immersive trip is like 100-150 ug although some people trip pretty hard even at 75 ug. 200-250 ug and it is INTENSEEEEE. With all of these you are high for about 12 hours so put that time away for it.

Anyway just wanted to write some basic info for newbies so they stay safe if they see this. LSD-25 can make life a lot better if used responsibly. Enjoy a chill dose and then take a month or two off. If you treat this stuff with respect you'll have a lot of fun and a lot of amazing revelations most likely!

(And make yourself a prepared fruit plate to enjoy during the trip! And during the come up have a nice perfect temperature shower. Keep lots of cool refreshing clean water around. These three things along with time in nature and star gazing with great music throughout the trip can make for astonishing levels of bliss!)

❔ Question ❔ Mind making its own music

Anyone else while tripping hears music made by their own head. It’s not a high dose thing for me even in doses as low as 100ug I hear a chime or jingle in my head almost like a melody. I think I’m more sensitive than others to psychedelics because I experience more effects than my friends but who knows.

150 μg 🐰 Will my tolerance be down in time?

I’ve had 150ug 3 weeks in a row, and am planning on tripping with friends in 3 days (on Sunday), my last trip was yesterday and it felt noticeably weaker - however I did have a different batch of tabs. Will my tolerance be low enough to have a good trip on Sunday or should I just wait for my tolerance to go down more?

Mirtaz (Remeron) and Cid

I found a lotta conflicting reports online. I’ve been on 30 mg mirtazipine for years. I took my last dose at 8AM my time today to sleep. Will I be good to trip on half a blot of what the guy says is 350+ mg cid. Ik you shouldn’t cut the blot but I feel like 350mics will shoot me into the stratosphere.
Do you think I can trip today, kinda exited to?

❔ Question ❔ Confused between tripping in a mundane setting vs an exploratory day

Home is a safe place and experience is enjoyable.

Though I also feel it could be nice if I do is someday outside but then I feel am I not capable of enjoying it without substance.

Don’t know if this tension makes sense. Looking for your opinions.

🎼 Trip tunes 🎼 Looking for albums to listen to that fit my tastes

So I’m abt to do 100ug. Albums I’ve enjoyed most on acid include Lateralus, the wall, some deftones, maggot brain, selected ambient works, and Aghartha by miles Davis. Overall I love sortof weird and creative sounds. Just really wacky albums that are journey to listen to sober. Tryna find some electronic albums which fit a similar psychedelic intensity as Lateralus (if that makes sense) or those sort of whirring sounds like I’m riding the spiral. Thanks 👍

🔄 Combinations 🔄 Bad AL-LAD flip experience

Hey everyone,

I post here since I think there's a big overlap between AL-LAD users and LSD users. I hope it's okay !

Just wanted to share my experience "candyflipping", but dropping AL-LAD instead of acid, in case it might help someone.

I dropped the AL-LAD, went to a rave, danced for a few hours, felt good.
It was like 3 and a half hours since I dropped the AL-LAD at this point, but there was no huge effect, no visuals, I just felt kinda weird ? I was thinking maybe the tabs I took were underdosed, or it went bad or something. It never took so long to come up, so I thought I was peaking at that point.

I took the MDMA, and quickly felt bad. I had to sit down and felt really weak. It's just the Molly coming up right ? But the feeling did not go away and I only felt worse as time went on.

Decided to take a Uber home, might as well be in bed if I'm having a bad time.

Arrived home, went to bed, and at that point I had crazy visuals, I think the AL-LAD just took forever to kick ! But I still felt so so bad.

After maybe an hour of this, I think the AL-LAD comeup was done, because I suddenly felt great, I was finally feeling the Molly and AL-LAD working together.

Enjoyed this for a bit then suddenly it felt like someone turned off a switch in my brain, I felt the MDMA going away instantly. It was not a good feeling.

Anyways, just wait a while if you take AL-LAD, it can take a while to fully come up

----------------------
TL;DR

AL-LAD took forever to comeup, thought I was already peaking and that I just took bad or weak tabs, dropped MDMA and had an aweful time for hours because the two came up at the same time and it was rough.
