Hi microdosing community!

I have been recruiting participants for my research study on the process of choosing to microdose psilocybin. I will be closing data collection in the next TWO WEEKS so this will be the final opportunity to share your experience and contribute to very exciting new research in this field!

I’m a clinical psychology doctoral PsyD student at The Wright Institute, conducting dissertation research on how and why people have decided to microdose psilocybin.

Below you will find the link to an anonymous study through the Qualtrics platform. On average, it has taken people about 15 minutes to complete. You will also find more in depth information on what we are studying, the IRB approval, and how we are keeping your data safe.

We are looking for people who:

  1. are at least 18 years old
  2. live in the US
  3. have chosen to microdose psilocybin in the last 12 months or so.
  4. are fluent in English

Thank you in advance, every response is a huge help and will fill in the gap on research in this area! You can find the study by following the QR code in the flyer or at this link below:

Getting Started/Newbie Question Is this too much for micro dosing? Feeling so drained and down after 3 days on.

Day 1: 250mg
Day 2: 160mg
Day 3: 200mg start of day/300mg in the evening later

(it’s honestly been 150mg/120mg/150mg/220 mg, but the strain is certainly more potent than GT so I think the above dosage amounts are more accurate)

After doing this 3 days in a row, the 4th day I have woken up feeling just so drained, tired and lack energy or motivation. They also gave me some nausea for a bit and suppressed my appetite.

I know 3 days on and a few days off is a recommended dosing schedule that has been effective for a lot of people, as far as I know the dosages I mentioned are still within micro dosing range, and I don’t plan to do this every week.

(although I’ll admit, I certainly feel effects and it’s noticeable, even though I wasn’t tripping, I could feel it)

Is this too much? Isn’t micro dosing supposed to give more motivation and be a boost?
not feel so drained and down the next day?
Idk if it’s unrelated but it seems to be caused by this.

Question: Psilocybin How to microdose shrooms

I have cognitive OCD, anxiety, autism and depression. No treatment worked for me. I bought 2g of shrooms and I wanna try microdosing. A guy told me to do it 10mg once per week, using this article: Single-dose (10 mg) psilocybin reduces symptoms in adults with obsessive-compulsive disorder: A pharmacological challenge study - ScienceDirect

But I think its a low dose and with a very low frequency. What you think about this?

>< Just a Reminder >< Reducing activity of the Default Mode Network

Welcome to the community.

"The default mode network refers to an interconnected group of brain regions that are associated with introspective functions, internally directed thought, such as self-reflection, and self-criticism."

Through life and our experiences we develop a set of neural pathways of communication that are relied on for our perspectives of life and self. As they develop, the communication with other parts of the brain becomes more limited. The DMN becomes our mental frame of reference for our lives. But it can become rigid in thought patterns and produce negative thought loops about oneself.

Psychedelics reduce the activity of the DMN and the negative self talk while also increasing communication with other areas of the brain again, sometimes with results somewhat similar to how children see the awe and wonder of the world. This also allows us through the new pathways to develop an Updated DMN over time. I think this is a basic understanding of part of what's going on with microdosing that many times helps us enjoy life more. Sometimes people sense this happening in a few days but for others is could be a couple of months, based on the thousands of reports we see here.

Question: Psilocybin what is your recommended md schedule?

hi, i was finally able to start microdosing psilocybin. last night at about 10:20 pm i did .2g. it was an enjoyable experience, no visuals or anything but i felt a lot more relaxed and motivated, and i woke up today feeling a lot less tired than i usually do.

for context i've done actual trips in the past so this isn't really new territory for me.

anyways i've heard a lot about different "stacks", which ones work best for you guys? i heard 3 days on 4 days off is good, but i worry that consecutive days will cause a tolerance. but maybe it's different for microdosing?

personally i prefer to do it at night bc i don't have obligations or responsibilities then and that is the most relaxed time for me. i live with family so it is my time where everyone's going to bed and i can be alone.

so i would love to hear recommendations from anyone who has a set routine that's worked for you!

Question: LSD Can I take a MD right now at 16:30 or is it too late?

10mcg. I am familiar with this dose. But Im not sure if its gonna f up my sleep tonight. Normally I go to bed around 12 or 1 am.

Can I still take a MD now?

Discussion Do you go to work when you are md’ing routinely?

Or is it an after work thing? When do you get off? Does it affect your sleep? Do you still see friends or family on the days you are md’ing? Do you only md on days you planned?

What is the reason you do or don’t do certain things while microdosing? Loaded questions, but I can’t find much explaining this fully on other posts

Discussion My journey begins.... NSFW

I've read and watched videos recommending Lions Mane alongside psilocybin when microdosing, so I will be taking the daily 50mg and a tsp of the mushroom blend. Got my scale, ground up my medicine, and I'm ready to start this journey correctly.

Don't want to be guessing, as i want to remain consistent and under the threshold of it's emotional effects. The dose I took this morning was far too much. High anxiety, lots of reflection and tears. Luckily I work nights, so I've had plenty of time to recoup.

I'm also in the process of quitting Kratom. I seem to have developed a habit, and so I must taper off and be done with it. I quit Kratom before, and it was brutal. Tapering is the way to go. Restlessness, anxiety, man opiod withdrawal is brutal. I'm cutting out anything that doesn't benefit my brain. Slowly get off of these prescription meds as well; tapering off of one atm.

Very excited about all of this. I'm feeling there is actually truly hope. Reached a place most never come out alive, and lived there to the point of suicidal ideology. It was really really bad. I cried for hours every day, and I had no clue what I was sad about. After my trip yesterday, I'm crying hard, but I know what I'm crying for. The fog is lifted, and I can see down all the streets of the Silent Hill that is my brain.

I've never journaled in my life, but I feel I must document my journey. Life has been excruciating for me for well over a decade, so this means EVERYTHING to me. I want to be me. The truth. Bless'ed Love ❤️.

Discussion Microdosing made me stop drinking completely

Post image
373 Upvotes

I know a lot of other people had similar experiences, but wanted to share my own too.

To be clear, I was never an alcoholic, and I’ve never especially loved the taste of alcohol (vodka sours were pretty tasty though). But since all of my friends drink, I would never say no to a night out spent drinking, resulting in feeling pretty bad the day after.

Since I started microdosing I completely lost the interest in drinking, I just get a 0% beer and I’m good. I don’t think it’s an insane accomplishment, but I’ve just reached 100 days without alcohol, which is probably the longest streak since I became legally allowed to drink. That’s it, and I’m kinda curious if anyone knows what happens if I stop microdosing, as I won’t continue forever

Question: Psilocybin should I MD while sleep deprived?

My youngest child is 19months old but I am still not getting very good sleep. (My oldest didn’t start sleeping well until she was 2ish) I don’t have a lot of support and I have two little kids I am home with. I am stressed and exhausted, missing my old creativity, frankly just kind of depressed and not as happy as I could be if I could let go of some things from the past and get my default mindset to focus a bit more on the many good things I have in life and not weigh the negatives so heavily. I’m just tired of being this version of me basically. Anyway, I’ve been wanting to try micro dosing but I hesitate because I don’t want to stress my body more while it is so tired. I haven’t had a decent night of sleep in at least five years!! Looking for perspectives or experience from people who have been in a similar position. Is undertaking this journey too much for an already exhausted body to handle? Or could it possibly help, even though I’m not getting enough sleep yet? Thanks!

Question: Psilocybin Wary of microsdosing?

I have been considering microsdosing shrooms for some time, primarily to help me better tackle my attachment trauma and how it has manifested in my life, as well as to aid in healing from a breakup with someone that has taken a huge toll on me mentally because of how on and off it was, and which kind of ties into my attachment trauma, and which in itself has been traumatic. I have been putting in a lot of effort to address my traumas over the last 2.5 years, but even so there are some blind spots which really hold me back. On paper, it seems like MDing would help me, but I'm just afraid of whether I'm taking a shortcut? I know there's no bypassing the real work. I guess I'm just afraid that if I MD i may not fully integrate changes into my life. But i also guess I'm afraid of what if I actually change and heal? I'm used to being in this sad state for a while too.

Has anyone else here dealt with something similar? If so, how did you guys tackle it?

Getting Started/Newbie Question Has anyone seen benefits in terms of brain fog/memory?

I have a theory that my brain fog stems from a severely burnt-out/disregulated nervous system due to lifelong anxiety, OCD, and depression. I think my brain had been in fight or flight for so long that it put into me a chronic “freeze” or dissociated state.

Question: Psilocybin Microdosing with albino A+?

Hi all. Does anyone have experience with microdosing with Albino A+ cubensis? I'm trying to research the most suitable variant for my needs and my research suggests Albino A+ is the one, although I understand this is highly subjective.

Liberty caps are game changers for me, although I'm dependent on what I can get. Storm Troopers have worked fine, but are less effective, Hillbilly Pumpkins started out fine - very productive but after a break tended to give me wild anxiety. I've also tried some random capsules and they sent my ADHD fucking haywire.

I'm recovering from a PTSD relapse and can see a similar pattern of the causing trauma in earlier childhood trauma (that I thought I'd dealt with and put to bed). With the availability of liberty caps very low I'm looking for a suitable alternative but I don't really have the means or capacity to experiment. Microdosing only, no trips at this stage.

Experiential advice on Albino A+ please 🙏

Question: LSD Adhd, can microdosing lsd be helpful

Hello, I need your help. I have ADHD, and I don't want to take medication because I'm worried about its potential long-term side effects. I'm thinking about trying LSD microdosing instead. Has anyone had any positive experiences with it? I feel like medication could harm my health in the long run.

Question: Psilocybin Anyone else experienced worsening negative rumination from microdosing shrooms?

Hi, I've been dealing with chronic GAD, depression, low mood and pretty much zero motivation for a long time. For the past few months I've also been stuck in this constant loop of negative thoughts and ruminations, mostly about my past, regrets and things I can't change.

I've been microdosing P. natalensis (Natal Super Strength) at around 50mg, both before and after a recent 3g trip

The trip itself was pretty rough. Lots of anxiety, crying, physical tension and getting stuck on the same negative thoughts over and over again, especially the feeling that I've ruined my life. Interestingly, later that evening and the next day I actually felt much better, more positive and motivated, but that only lasted a few days before I was back to baseline.

I've continued microdosing 50mg for the following weeks, but I've noticed that my negative ruminations seem to have gotten even worse. My mind just keeps going back to the same thoughts no matter how much I try to move on. My anxiety hasn't really improved either(might have got worse), and neither has my depression or motivation

I'm not saying microdosing is necessarily causing this, but I'm starting to wonder if it might actually be making things worse rather than helping?

For context, I don't do journaling and I'm not currently in therapy, although I'm looking for a therapist. Unfortunately I've had some pretty negative experiences with therapists in general, and especially my last one gave me another reason to lose trust in therapy. I do understand that not every therapist is the same though

Has anyone here experienced something similar? Especially getting stuck in negative thought loops or noticing more negative rumination while microdosing?

Would appreciate hearing your experiences, Thanks!

Discussion Looking for input/feedback from experienced microdosers :)

Wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I had my first microdose recently (50mg) and it was the best experience. I literally felt like I was restored to factory settings 😂 I started with 1 day on 2 off. By my 3rd dose it felt like I was back to how I was feeling pre-microdosing with no positive effects, it basically felt like I didn’t even take a dose on my dose day. I decided to increase to 100mg and still it felt like I hadn’t even taken a dose. I tried one more time with the 100mg with no positive effects. I’m feeling a little discouraged and don’t know where to go from here. My first week had me feeling so optimistic and I was so excited to finally feel how I’ve been imagining life should feel like. I’m curious to see how 150mg would feel but don’t understand how 50mg could give such positive results and 150mg could feel like nothing. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Question: Psilocybin Interested in trying microdosing

Hey everyone. Newb here. Im thinking about getting into microdosing psilocybin for just overall mental health and some slight alcohol abuse issues. Im mostly just curious if there is a certain strain that people suggest for someone just wanting to try it out. I've used mushrooms recreationally in my younger years so I have a little experience. I plan on trying to grow my own, so suggestions for that are welcome as well.

Getting Started/Newbie Question Upped my dose, week 4. Questions.

So on my fourth week of micro dosing, I’ve titrated up from 100 mgs to 125mgs of dried mushroom capsules.
First off, I’m glad I didn’t take my Vyvanse as my focus and motivation was greatly improved as if I had taken it, even better actually.
Second, the only noticeable ever so slightly unpleasant effects was a mild headache, and the feeling that my hat was on too tight ha ha, but just momentarily. Also, sleep wasn’t immediate as my mind was restless despite how tired I felt (it felt like I had concentrated way too hard on something all day)

So, for all you seasoned folks, is going from 100 to 125 mgs too much of an increase?

And, what’s the general rule for taking a break, at the 4 or 6 week mark?

Cheers!
