Discussion Anyone ever done the reverse back-to-back?

WMF straight into NOTW?Just finished my third journey through The Wise Man's Fear, this time on Audible, and I'm experiencing the familiar grief of leaving Temerant behind. Might hit up Name of the Wind again?!

These books are my go-to listen while falling asleep. I usually try to mix in something else, but have definitely just started over at least once immediately after finishing WMF.

I remember my first time finishing name of the wind, I flipped it back to page 1 and started reading it again

A concurrent listen through of both Podel and Degass, while taking detailed notes of who wins the Oscar for each chapter/scene.

Had to look up what any of the meant, but Yes, I am glad the consensus is that I am not the only one obsessed.

What’s your vote? I love Podehl personally, but I do know many people favor Degas. I tried listening to his, but it made my skin creep like the uncanny valley feeling.

Degas. He is kote. For the entire story you are there, sitting on a barstool listening to him spin the tale of his youth.

Podehl was my first listen through.... and I remember the transition was super jarring and took a long time to get used to. Podehl gives a great audio book performance. Degas gives you an experience.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who found it jarring. How did you get both? I remember someone posted a YouTube link to the degas one, but I think it was under a weird title.

The thing I love about the Podehl one is that there are a bunch of Easter eggs in it that seem like mistakes until you get it. There have got to be some in the Degas one, too.

There has been just as many time I have read notw after wmf as wmf after notw.

Thanks. I am not sure why it feels so good to hear this. Maybe it is partly because there is so much frustration with Rothfuss himself. Also, it feels lonely that no one else in my world even knows these books exist. Regardless, I am going to jump back into NOTW with everyone's encouragement and blessings:)))

I spent like an entire year going back to back and skipping around. It’s the best way to figure out all of the dots to connect and to see the patterns before you forget everything during a hiatus. Going “back and forth, back and forth” is a motif that is repeated a few times in the books. 10/10 would recommend, if you’re interested in getting to the bottom of these books. They’re meant to be lived in.

Good!!! I’m sure you know this, but it bears saying anyway… You’re allowed to read these books as often as you’d like and in whichever order suits your mood. Don’t let anyone try to tell you there is only one way to read them. Your way is the right way for you. People here can get tetchy about it because they seem to forget that these are open ended fantasy novels. They’re for entertainment purposes. Entertain yourself!

I have just rented NotW for the first time since reading it 3 years ago, and I'm really looking forward to it
