Hello all, I'm on my third kidney procedure of my life and I have a sinking feeling it won't be my last.
For context, at 12 I had a pyeloplasty (or whatever) to remove a congential blockage and I assume a fuck ton of stones from a kidney that hadn't worked until that point.
Last year (age 35) I had a stone blockage kick up and put me in the hospital for days waiting on a procedure (scope, but no stent) It turns out I have struvite stones, but no symptoms of an infection at all! I go back to work 4 days later a complete mess because my note didn't cover any recovery time at all.
No labs have been run, no discussion of antibiotics or any sort of prevention or reason this is happening? Is this normal?
Then, last month on a 1 year follow up it turns out I have 4 more stones (or possibly some of the same stones, I'm not convinced the first procedure removed all of them in the first place)
Apparently at the time i also had a "moderate blockage" (little of which I could even feel) and suspect I'll be in for a procedure quickly. Apparently by the time I go for the ct, the blockage is gone so I'm booked out 6 weeks later for the scope and a stent. This in itself is fine, except it puts me into the busiest and most physical season of our year.
Y'all I do not have the means for this and the note is only for a week, I do not have a desk job. I lift a 100 25lb bales of branches and haul around buckets full of water and more plant shit on a daily basis. No idea how long the stent will be in but I can tell ya I will not be doing that with a tube in my kidney, thanks.
Luckily I have some room to wiggle things around and can delay the procedure until after christmas when I am off work for a bit anyways...but ultimately I have zero faith in my doctor and finding another is feeling like it is not worth the chase as I doubt they will be any different.
Sorry for the vent but I am frustrated 😠
