Rant Two Months Later: Someone Asked How Things Are Going, and Honestly, Weeh
Hey guys ❤️ So, somebody asked me how things have been going since I posted two months ago. Honestly, time flies, but unfortunately, things haven't really improved.
The job situation is still uncertain. We went from being told we would start on 9th October to 20th October, and now I'm worried it might be postponed again.
My landlord is really on my neck right now. My door was closed, and I had to stay with a friend for three days. I eventually went to the chief and made a promise that I would pay my rent on 12th November because we had been told the contract would start on 9th October. Now that the job has been pushed to the 20th, I honestly don't know what I'll do. If I don't come up with the money before the 10th, I'm out. 😅😅
I know it's not funny, but I'm honestly tired of crying these days. Sometimes I just laugh because what else can I do?
The housekeeping jobs come in maybe two days a week, and then I have to figure out how to survive the rest of the week with my three kids.
My daughter was sent home on Friday because I hadn't paid the KES 1,750 the school was asking for. I later asked and was told the money is for feeding and exam materials because she's sitting for her KPSEA exams.
Yesterday, she was home again because I hadn't cleared the full amount. Today, I managed to send her with another KES 500. I honestly don't know if she'll still be in school by 10 a.m. or if she'll be sent home again, but I'm praying she gets to stay and continue with her exams.
I even sent someone to talk to her dad, hoping he could at least help with KES 500, but the answer I got was, "I don't have any money." I wasn't even asking for the whole amount.
These are just some of the things I've been going through over the past two months. Mentally, I'm drained. Sometimes I feel like I'm running on empty, but I keep standing because I'm a mum and my children depend on me.
The hardest part is hearing my kids say things like, "It's okay, Mum, wacha tukunywe uji jioni, tutakula shule." They try to comfort me by saying we'll have porridge in the evening and they'll eat at school the next day.
Then I realise I can't even afford the KES 15 for their lunch.
Imagine being a mother and having to listen to your children comfort you because they can see how hard you're trying. They don't ask for much, but even the little things have become difficult.
And this is how I'm about to turn 29 on the 24th of this month, with most of the same problems I had two months ago still hanging over my head.
I'm not sharing this for pity. I honestly don't even know why I'm writing all this, maybe because sometimes I need somewhere to let it out. I'm still trying, still looking for work, and still hoping that something will finally work out.
If anyone knows of temporary work around Riruta, Kilimani, Lavington, Westlands, or nearby areas, please let me know. I'm available for housekeeping, laundry, errands, meal preparation, or any honest work.
Weeh, life has really humbled me. I'm tired, but I haven't given up. One day at a time.
