Kenshi is the only game I've played since 2018. It's been a big inspiration to me, and I've always wondered how its world and systems fit together. The factions, the ruins, the things nobody explains to you, and the stories that come out of simply trying to survive there.
Recently, I saw those clips mixing different games together: Mario Kart in Call of Duty, Minecraft with Elden Ring. I came across the REA repo and wanted to see whether it could work with Kenshi too.
After 16 hours with an AI and the REA repo, here's what these tools can already help us do: understand how parts of Kenshi work and start reproducing some of those systems.
That's the possibility I wanted to bring to the community's attention. More fans will be able to investigate the game, experiment with its mechanics and try ideas they've had for years. Improving performance, trying a different perspective, or changing how a particular mechanic works. Parts of what makes Kenshi so clever are becoming possible to study and recreate.
Kenshi's systems are complex, and the way they interact is a big part of what makes the game interesting.
That's what I wanted to share here. These tools exist now, and I wanted to try them with Kenshi and show what came out of it.
I imagine Chris and the Lo-Fi team have considered that someone would eventually try this. With these tools becoming available, it seemed inevitable. I tested it, and these are the results of that experiment.
I'm still looking forward to Kenshi 2, and I'd love to hear more about where it's heading.
