College Choice A calculated risk that might turn out to be the biggest mistake of my life 😰✌

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

before I explain my situation, I wanna make sure yall know about my goals, limitations and why I am considering such a big decision…

if you could spare a bit of time pls read it fully and drop some advice or criticism or whatever u like 😊

Background-

I’am a Btech CSE student at a tier-3 college in Delhi. I was already a Dropper before joining and taking another drop would make me a 2nd dropper.

honestly, I am not quite satisfied with my clg, I feel that the environment, opportunities, and the resources available here might not be sufficient for the kind of growth I’m looking for.

yes, ik ik…. I should have moved on with my life and should do best of what is already given to me, so for that same reason I decided to give this college a time period to see if things did actually work out for me or not… and its been 2 months already and ik for sure this clg aint for me

Before I get into the JEE part, I wanna let yall know something about me- I had less than 75% in class 12th CBSE. I am fully aware of the fact that due to the boards criteria and me being a 2nd dropper I cant get into IIT/NITs and most of the elite premier institutes.

I don’t wanna settle for a tier-2/3 institute again after a 2nd drop, because being a 2nd dropper comes with its own cons that is- Placement issues

So, it is kinda mandatory for me to join a tier-1 institute otherwise I wont end up in a significantly better position than I am right now.

there is no way I can get into IIT/NIT or some other elite tier-1 institutes, so why am I preparing again…?

the thing is since I am from Delhi I can target DTU/NSUT at a much safer %ile criteria…

and frankly speaking that is the only safety net I have…. ☹

I am not assuming admission will be easy, nor am I treating DTU/NSUT as guaranteed backups. I am trying to figure out whether another attempt would make sense or not?

well why did I fail before?

I was caught up in a prolonged chronic medical issue starting class 12th and is still dragging till this day, back then I wasn’t in good physical or mental state to prepare properly… I still am not but I can manage my condition a bit better than before.

Interestingly, the attendance at my clg is quite relaxed and I get some free time for myself more than what I got when I was in school.

I want yall to please advise and guide me on these things-

1) Given my circumstances, should preparing for JEE make sense targeting DTU/NSUT?

2) or should I just stay in my current clg and focus on coding, projects, internships, and off-campus opportunities which I think wont get me far considering the situation of my clg….?

3) finally, tell me how do I prepare for ts again… starting with maths I have previous PW paid batches that I bought back in the day…

I am not asking anyone to validate my decision blindly, I want genuine help regarding this calculated risk or mistake that I am trying to justify…

I don’t want to make the post too big so feel free to ask me about my current situation, previous performance, medical situation or anything that might help you or me…

~thanks <3

TL;DR: Unhappy with my current college, considering a partial drop for DTU/NSUT despite being a double dropper with less than 75% in boards. Is it worth the risk, and how do I restart JEE prep, especially Maths?

General Title: Day 2 of my Physics PYQ grind — bro said 500 šŸ’€

Post image
11 Upvotes

Day 2 update:

  • Physics: 70 PYQs
  • Chemistry: Not started yet
  • Maths: Not started yet

I'm using Marks to solve JEE Main PYQs, currently focusing on Physics. I'm tracking my mistakes and trying to improve my speed and accuracy instead of blindly chasing question counts.

Tomorrow's plan is to start including Chemistry and Maths as well, with one chapter from each subject.

The goal is to gradually increase my daily question count and build consistency across all three subjects.

We'll improve. See you tomorrow, guys. 🫔

Genuinely What is difference between all this oneshots?

If i really want to learn concept 100% and practice question such that I can go and approach every type of questions that exists.

After the oneshots I'll go do more question practice like all dpps once and modules and all but generally what's the difference between all this oneshots?

Like for example I had seen the latest rajwant sir Oneshot on jee wallah and it had like every type of questions and everything and after watching straight line Oneshot i could approach any type of questions of mains not advanced but I didn't watched it properly + didn't did question practice but mains was approachable.

HI I wanna keep this short as I don't wanna waste much of your and my time

I'm a 12thie online student from lux27. And also lux26 (phy and oc)

Attached is my list of chaps I have done and i have also attached ypt to show that I m not suffering from problems like distractions or anything my main problem is idk if I'm going right test I have not been giving kabhi syllabus match nhi hota jitne bhi diye he kafi Kam number he

Pyqs mene kre he but vo kuch hafte pehle hi start Kiya he so yeah

My subject wise state is:

Phy

I think good coverage just worried abt rotational backlog and fear of missing out on number of pyqs by end

Maths

Basically 11th is dead tbh 12th i m following pretty well just that kuch chap dhile he

Oc

Just need to revise and do many many practice and also completing amine and bio rn

Pc

Idk i feel very smooth here but accuracy improve krni he 50-60 chal rhi he

Ioc

Tbh I don't know just started 12th ioc

Im quite much done tbh pata nhi ajj tak give up krne ka man nhi kra but ab kr rha he kuch feel nhi hora na good na bad

I don't even know if my situation is recoverable

My main concerns are

How can I improve pls be more specific don't just say " test deta reh"

11th ko kese cover kru details or SMTH else

And are pyqs enough bcus that's the only thing I can do tbh in the given time

overall 11th ke sep se jee chalu kiya tha tab me maje me tha tbh fhir march me 50% hua serious and August se major progress hui he i swear agar august se nhi hota to ye bhi nhi ho pata

Serious I want to run away from home, I can’t take this anymore

I am an 18-year-old JEE aspirant taking a drop year. In JEE Main 2026, I only gave the April attempt and panicked because I had never taken a proper mock test, which led to a 46 percentile score. That was when I decided to take a drop.

At first, things were going well. I joined a library and was studying 7 to 8 hours every day. However, around September, my health worsened significantly, and I was placed on bed rest, forcing me to stop going to the library.

Once I recovered, I decided to study at home instead. My reasoning was partly to save money—my father doesn't earn much, so I wanted to cut down on expenses rather than waste his hard-earned money. But that decision has ended up giving me overwhelming anxiety and pressure.

Without the strict routine of going to the library, I started sleeping slightly more in the mornings. I was sleeping around 7 hours—not 10—just enough to ensure I wasn't exhausted while studying. But my father started constantly commenting on it, telling me things like, "How can you sleep this much? That’s not how a JEE aspirant acts—kids only sleep 3–4 hours," and demanding that I sleep no more than 5 hours.

Hearing this first thing every morning leaves me deeply frustrated. I am human, not a machine, and I need proper rest to function.

Whenever I try to talk to my mother for support, she ignores me, keeps looking at her phone, or turns the conversation back to herself. It makes me feel completely unheard, unworthy, and unloved. I’ve reached a point where I wonder why I’m even living.

Since September, I haven't been able to bring myself to study. I feel like I've lost all courage to even pick up my books. I don't know how to handle this environment anymore, and I feel completely trapped.

General 99.5%ile in the next 99 days. Can i pull this off?

Okay, so I thought I'd share my current syllabus status and the plan I'm going to follow from now on.

Physics: Almost done with the syllabus. Only Ray Optics and Wave Optics are left, along with 1–2 weak chapters.

For Physics, I'll cover Ray Optics and Wave Optics from ABJ Sir. For the remaining chapters, I'll solve JEE Main PYQs from 2019–2025 and practise RBS and Sure Shot from Eduniti alongside them.

Maths: I've covered most of the syllabus, except PnC, Probability and Statistics. For the rest, I mainly need to focus on PYQs, revision and practising good-quality questions.

Chemistry: Honestly, this is where I'm struggling the most. My preparation is pretty messed up, and I haven't done things properly so far. I'll be starting seriously from tomorrow and trying to get things back on track.

My goal is to complete most of my syllabus, along with question practice, by the end of November. Hopefully, that will leave December for full-syllabus mocks, analysing my mistakes and revising everything repeatedly.

Starting tomorrow, I'll post daily updates here with:

- How many hours I studied

- How many questions I solved

- How many Chemistry lectures I completed

I feel like posting here will help me stay accountable and be more consistent. I'll try to be honest about my progress, even on days when things don't go as planned.

I know 99.5%ile is an ambitious target, especially considering my Chemistry situation, but I want to give these next 99 days everything I've got.

If anyone has been in a similar situation, please share your advice, especially regarding Chemistry and how to balance lectures with question practice.

Let's see where I end up. One day at a time.

Serious My parents have made my life a living hell

Post image
30 Upvotes

The title is not an exaggeration and I am sure that I am going through the absolute worst phase of my life (I hope so coz if there is something worse then this then idk what to live for ) .

Loneliness and depression are quite common during jee , I always knew that but my parents make it 100x more difficult to live especially my dad . Always checking on me if I am studying or not as he gets influenced by those stupid ass teachers yapping on reels about studying like 14-15 hr a day . He genuinely thinks that I have to study this much everyday otherwise I will definitely FAIL , not even like it will be difficult but I will FAIL if I am not studying this much .

Forget about opposite gender interaction , I haven't even met any of my friends for many months , I only chat with them online coz even talking to them is considered an absolute waste of time and I am then scolded to be immature about life .

He often tells me to do 100-150 Q per day (again ezily influenced by some braindead) and sometimes checks it too like asks me to show my work . He checks my screen time and makes sure I am only using my tablet for studies.

I have to wake up at 6 am otherwise I am woken up forcefully accompanied by scoldings and a lecture on how miserable my life decisions are . When I suggest something or present my opinion , he tells me I don't have the brain to do that and are often driven by emotions which can't be true coz I don't feel any emotion nowadays .

And the cherry on the cake , I am a dropper and I am very under confident about my prep. I don't think I will be able to score well because everyday I feel like I am not studying for jee but studying because I want to avoid him scolding me for hours so I am usually just sitting on my bench and doing absolutely nothing .

My life is in complete shambles currently , I also have to experience my friends living peak clg life because that's the way it is right , my friends who scored even less than me are sitting in clgs in which I can't even think of getting a good branch because my ancestors decided to do some discrimination and now I have to pay for that too .

Is life really worth living if u are not alive?
