I’m moving to Fairfield in late February. I was originally planning on bringing my car, but unfortunately, I can’t depend on it to make the drive all the way from my hometown to Fairfield.
My plan is to buy an e-bike and use that as my main way of getting around town. I’d also really like to explore nearby cities and other parts of Iowa while I’m there. Would taking buses be the best option for that, or are there other ways to get around without a car?
I’m also wondering what the weather is usually like around late February and early spring and whether it’s realistic to rely on an e-bike during that time.
If anyone lives in Fairfield or has experience getting around the area without a car, I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations! I’d also love recommendations for places near Fairfield that are worth exploring! I’ll be there from late February until mid-June, so I’d love to take advantage of that time and see as much of the surrounding area as I can.

So, I had someone living with me last year who was a total sleaze bag. Came up with 109 excuses not to pay the rent we agreed upon and I allowed it because I’m a nice person. Well, my kindness dried up completely because of how I was taken advantage of. This person moved in with me in the first place because, according to them, there was mold in their apartment that the landlord was not fixing and it was making them sick. Turns out, that was a complete lie. They didn’t pay their rent, that’s why they were getting kicked out, and that’s not at all the first place they’ve been evicted from.
Well, fast forward, I kicked them out and couldn’t give a single shit less where they went, which turns out to be with their daughter who lives in Section 8 housing. I can 100% guarantee they didn’t go through the proper channels before moving in and are living there illegally. The daughter is slower so I can guarantee they entirely manipulated them into letting them live there, and are now once again living on someone else’s (the taxpayer’s) dime. If they’re illegally living in section 8 housing, I want them removed, but I also don’t want the daughter to lose their housing. I am going to make a report with the housing authority regardless, I already subsidized this persons housing for months, I’m not doing it again in the form of them defrauding the taxpayers. I would hate to see the daughter lose their housing as well, but it goes to show just how shitty of a person this person is, manipulating their own child into letting them illegally live with them just because they’re too scummy to pay their own bills.

Was trying to find the video where they were playing basketball to send my dad who's very checked out of politics, and found out he just posted another one this morning.
Honestly, it is super cool to see Obama doing so much for Iowa specifically. I actually feel like we have a real chance to win this election, which is crazy because just last year I had basically given up hope in Iowa as a Democrat. Obviously, ignore the polls and vote!!!

On March 5, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate authorized the transfer of Iowa's unredacted voter-registration records to the U.S. Department of Justice after consulting with the Attorney General's office. The Secretary of State's staff confirmed the transfer was completed March 6.
On October 9, a federal judge vacated DOJ's nationwide voter-list collection and screening policy in Common Cause v. U.S. Department of Justice. But the ruling did not order the department to return or delete the voter records it had already collected.
Iowa's records establish that the transfer occurred. They do not establish whether DOJ still possesses the file, whether it was shared with other agencies, or what was done with it afterward.
The investigation also contains a separate finding from Iowa's own records.
An agreement obtained from the Iowa Department of Transportation and Secretary of State specifies weekly transfers of new or updated noncitizen records, including full Social Security numbers, driver's-license numbers, immigration status, and identifying document information.
The agreement also provides for monthly files containing the same fields and permits limited sharing with the state's voter-registration contractor, Civix.
These are documented provisions of an Iowa state agreement. The records do not establish that the specified files were actually delivered or that the DOT information was included in the separate DOJ transfer.
On October 14, I asked the Secretary of State's office whether DOJ had contacted Iowa about returning, retaining, or deleting the voter data. The office acknowledged the inquiry but had not provided substantive answers by publication.
The reporting includes the court decision, Iowa's transfer correspondence, and the state DOT agreement.

"An Iowa City semitruck driver fled the scene after striking and fatally injuring a motorcyclist Tuesday in southwest Wisconsin"
This is a reminder to verify that you're still registered to vote.
Hundreds of voters were removed from the rolls recently and it's also happening in others states as Republicans try to cheat and keep people from voting.
