I believe this classifies as a unicorn and I literally screamed when this came on my screen!! I was hoping and praying I wasn't being tip baited lol I had just missed a $55 order and was beating myself up and then I got this ughhh after a year of IC I finally got my first $100+ order. I'm currently platinum and thought only diamonds see these kind of orders but I guess everyone else was shopping already?? It was close to 11AM these were the most anxious two hours of my life because I was sooo scared they'd take off the tip lol

Rant - General 😠 Worked very hard to finally get my SPI down to the 40s. Here’s what changed.

Absolutely nothing.

I’m still watching the same four people go into Costco at the opening every day while not even seeing any of those orders.

In fact my earnings are down $200 a week since hitting the 40s; and I’m actually trying to get an earlier start than usual, too.

Haven’t seen a quadruple in at least a few months. Great….. 😑 And I’m willing to bet this order would probably easily been a 35-36 dollar triple, but of course IC has to throw in a no tip order on top of it

Negative Experience 👎 Had to report a customer for verbal abuse today for the first time

I haven't been doing instacart very long, only a few weeks at this point. So far everything has been relatively smooth and pleasant. Today I accepted a double batch, shopped both orders at the Kroger and delivered customer A with no issues. When I saw the delivery notes on B it said that they wanted it handed off at the apartment because they were disabled. Ok, no problem. I get there and knock and the man yells to come in (using my name). I opened the door and let him know that I don't go into customers' homes, but that I would leave his 3 bags inside his door in the entryway. It was dark and creepy in there, but I could see him on the sofa a few feet away. He said "no, you need to bring them to my kitchen and put them in the fridge." I repeated that I don't enter customers' homes as it's a safety and liability issue. He then FREAKED out screaming and swearing at me that I shouldn't be doing orders if I'm not willing to "deliver properly" and told me to take "that shit" back to the store. As I shut the door something hit it, so he also threw something at me. Like WTF? He didn't even tip on his order. Customer A tipped $25, so I didn't realize B stiffed me until after I accepted. I'm a 4'11" woman. I'm not going in some random dude's nasty apartment taking the risk of being in the next true crime documentary.

Daily / Weekly Earnings Good or Bad 👍🤑 The two different types of customers

Customer A: very responsive to messages about out of stock items, increased my tip after a downpour hit and I had to rush to get her groceries under cover

Customer B: tipped 2 quarters after I had to drive 5 extra miles in the rain to deliver their items 🤡

Unlucky ❌🍀 High demand, lit circles, no batches

Is anyone else experiencing this today? “High demand”; the circles are showing orange and red, around surrounding stores, not that it matters anyway; yet no batches are coming through? At first the ones that were rarely appearing, were completely unreasonable- high miles/items with extremely low pay?

Anybody seen this? I just saw this before going online. They’re going to start making us take pictures at checkout?! I hope it doesn’t mean we have to put groceries in the cooler bags inside lol

Rant - General 😠 Any Alberta IC shoppers hate the paper bags only rule at giant tiger & Walmart?

They rip non stop! Giant tiger recently changed their bags to smaller paper ones and they are so thin now. A couple weeks ago I was at Walmart and they had no paper bags, so I had to get the reusable ones. During check out I couldn’t complete it because “the bag wasn’t approved”. Another IC shopper beside me was already on the phone with support for 15 min trying to get the same issue resolved. She had like $300 order she said.

Would You Take It? how do batch earnings even work

Post image
3 Upvotes

so i did this batch today on my way home from class. i do these costco orders because usually theyre high paying and there isnt a costco around where i live
they order from costco to have it delivered around 45 minutes away (around 43-45 miles) but im already heading that direction anyways.
so i accept this batch because its $111 freaking dollars!
but at costco everything is ginormous. and in this order there are 70 items. i didnt realize how much 70 items is but it is a lot. and its like boxes of big stuff, laundry detergent, water bottle packages etc.
it takes me over an hour to get everything, like 20 mins to load into my car, 45 minute drive, and like 20 mins to unload and walk to their doorstep.
anyways im not complaining i have $111 more than I had-
but, i realized, the customer tipped me $96, and the batch earnings are only $21. and the persons order came up to over $800 so im just confused how they get the batch pay.....?

Question - App Function/New Function Late versus Ontime

I haven't figured out what's the best place to pause the app while checking out and loading groceries.

Usually when I'm checking out I leave it on the checking out spot and then dont hit done until im done unloading my groceries

I feel like it's always different, sometimes it shows that I'm late, sometimes it shows I'm early

But im confused since sometimes when I finish the shop in half the allotted time, I'm suddenly late

Or if I go over the shop time I still deliver on time

So at what point is it timing it in-between checking out and starting to deliver?

Question - App Function/New Function Curious about the Rating system.

I have maintained a 5.0 rating but the number is not what im worried about. Does anybody else's Shop Quality Rating pendulum from one side of the tier to the other randomly. For example i will complete a couple batched be all the way at the farthest most point of the Good Range. Then I'll wake up the mext dsy and be damn near in the Standard category. I mostly complete alcohol deliveries and small batches. I have not received any negative reviews. In addition to that I always try to follow the recommendations when items cannot be located or are out of stock. So I do not understand why this particular issue keeps occurring seemingly randomly.

Question - General Non App Related Account on hold for 24hrs

1st batch of the day I had arrived at a home where the dogs were jumping all over the car and the customer would not answer any texts or calls, eventually Instacart cancelled the batch. Then later in the afternoon I had a batch for 8 bags of mulch and none was available so the customer wanted to cancel so it was and now it says my account is on hold for 24hrs. My question is, is this normal I’m just getting started with Instacart in my spare time

Question - General Non App Related Is SC just this bad?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I've been splitting time between NE Ohio and near Columbia SC.... Markets seem to be about the same size but the discrepancy in pay is just astronomical.

Yesterday I was out for 6hrs...was sent 149 batches... Over 60% were under $20 and over 30% were under $15

The few that were over $25 - either 80 item tripples or going 40-50 miles

But here's what I don't understand - down here lately I either make 200 or 0 there's no in between... I meant it's always been worse than Ohio, but not this bad... In Ohio the 200 days are only weekends but avg weekday is like $120-$150

So people who live down here how tf do yall deal with it? I csnt even multi app with Shipt because I see maybe 10 offers a day on there and they are all tiny orders which you know won't tip.

I'm tempted to tell my gf we are gonna stay in Ohio. It's too fucking hot to sit in a car for hours. Ohio is a guarenteed 700-1k a week...
