Why is everyone bringing their newborns to Disney right now…?

Post image

Kurin whatsherface is joining these ranks with her, like, 4 weeks old?! 4 week old unvaccinated child, at that?! Regardless of your vaccination feelings, that is wild to me.

What are these people doing?!

Someone I know personally, who isn't an influencer, had their baby prematurely and spent 8 weeks in the NICU. Two weeks after they were released from the NICU and when the baby was technically "2 or 3 weeks old" she flew with the baby from the east to the west coast, and then spent a majority of the time in Disney.

They came back and a week later, the baby ended up hospitalized with a severe respiratory complications and I was not in the least bit surprised.

Anyone and everyone needs to understand that your child does not have all their vaccines at that point. Sure they might have innate immunity for a while but that is not a catch for all for what's possible out there anymore, especially as measles run wild and whatever else is out there now. So if you wouldn't take your new puppy to the dog park because they haven't had all their puppy vaccines yet, then why would you do the same with your own child with Disney?

That is so crazy. How can a trip ever take precedence over your new baby’s health??

62

u/terfnerfer 1d ago

Sadly the answer is usually that they are absolutely delusional about the "magic" of disney...to the extent that it's fine to risk your baby's life so they can crump with goofy or whatever the fuck

28

u/unicorntrees 1d ago

"crump with goofy" I'm stealing that.

6

u/Purple_Bug_1342 1d ago

Crump with goofy made me laugh so hard

3

u/Odd_Secret568 20h ago

Crump with Goofy 😂 I just for real spit out my Diet Coke

u/NvrthvrnLights 1d ago

Because the need to "create content" is more important than the genuine care of children nowadays. People are so focused on their online personas, children are being neglected left and right. The new gen of kids cant read, write, do math, look others in the eyes. Teachers are quitting at a horrifying rate because parents aren't doing anything for these gremlins and expecting teachers to be the parents. I truly believe that people becoming more self absorbed is what's causing so much negative shit to happen.

u/LiveL0veLasagna 1d ago

After 8 weeks in the NICU, how would you even have the energy to go across the country 2 weeks later?? Girl, stay home and RECOVER!!!

32

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

That part also. My nervous system took three whole YEARS post-NICU to cool off. Genuinely what the hell?

6

u/Whale_Stan 18h ago

This makes me feel better, I’m 14 months post NICU and still feel like I got hit by a truck

3

u/BpositiveItWorks 8h ago

Me too! I’m 7 months out.

Solidarity and love ❤️

3

u/BpositiveItWorks 8h ago

This is the most relatable comment I’ve read today. I am 7 months post nicu and still not right. I think it may be ptsd? I am taking Prozac and attend therapy regularly.

11

u/GabagoolFool123 1d ago

After a 10 week NICU stay, our pulmonologist was adamant about not getting on a place for at least a year.

1

u/BpositiveItWorks 8h ago

Did they say why? Our pulmonologist didn’t tell us this so I’m now extremely concerned if I’m about to fuck up doing a plane trip at 8 months.

When we got released from the pulmonologist they didn’t give us any instructions. They basically were like everything’s great it was just a combo of her size, early delivery, and the elevation you live at. No more oxygen needed, all normal

2

u/GabagoolFool123 8h ago

My guy was a 26 weeker, 1lb so it might be different for you but she said his lungs wouldn’t be strong enough to fight infections until at least a year. Said no daycare, no large gatherings, etc. We were lucky that we were able to avoid all that but you need to do what you have to do!

1

u/BpositiveItWorks 8h ago

I’m so glad he’s okay now! My nephew was a 24 weeker and 1lb and it was so scary for my sister and BIL.

Thanks for sharing that helps! They didn’t tell us to avoid any of that but my girl was 36 weeks. Also we live at 6000 ft so they said maybe she would have been fine at sea level.

I’m still going to call the pediatrician.. I’m definitely rethinking this trip now :/

1

u/GabagoolFool123 6h ago

It doesn’t hurt to ask! But yeah, totally different story with a 36 weeker, I’m sure you will be fine! I also made sure I was first on the list for the RSV antibody shot, that could be some extra piece of mind as well

u/0neirocritica 1d ago

Jesus Christ. I hope the baby was ok. How irresponsible of her, especially with a baby that was already born with complications. My nephew was born super premature and was in the NICU for almost three months. His mother, my sister in law, stayed home with him for another three months and would only leave with him essentially to go to doctor appointments. She would have NEVER taken him traveling and certainly not to Disney.

9

u/miloblue12 1d ago

Right?? The sad thing I didn't add originally is that the baby definitely has some genetic issues of some type that they are trying to figure out. The baby is at the age now that it should be walking with parent assistance, and it still can't even sit up on it's own, so that's a whole different can of worms there.

8

u/0neirocritica 1d ago

That makes me mad honestly. I am child free by choice, but I think children are precious and should always be loved and protected. It's infuriating to know people just pop out babies without a thought and then do stuff like that. Completely take their child's life and health for granted.

Out of curiosity did she know about the genetic issues after she had given birth? Because taking a newborn with complications AND genetic issues that still need diagnosing and treatment to Disney is doubly crazy.

3

u/miloblue12 1d ago

I'm with you on that. It's the fact that kids cannot decide what is best for them, so it's up to the parents to make those choices for them. It goes all the way from vaccines to what time a parent tells the kid to go to bed. That baby couldn't tell their mom, "Hey, I'm probably immunocompromised, so don't take me where sickness is rampant!"

From what I've seen, they didn't know that the baby had genetic issues. It definitely started with whatever illness they had, then the baby had issues with eating (tiring out to quickly which I think they thought was associated with the illness) and wasn't growing at the rate it needed to be. After quite a few months dealing with growth issues and other things, they then realized there was a lot more going on than just that.

1

u/0neirocritica 1d ago

If I was her I'd forever feel guilty that my decision potentially triggered serious health issues for my child. I truly hope she learned her lesson and that everything with the baby ends up resolving itself.

As you said children cannot advocate for themselves. It is up to us adults to watch out for them.

8

u/littlelou222 1d ago

I didn’t even take my preemies to the store for the first 5 months of their life. Truly insane

3

u/Ammamufa 1d ago

Our babies were born as micro preemies, we literally didn't go anywhere with them unless it was a doctor appt of some sort (they had eye, and regular checkups) for 9 months. If we wanted out of the house we took a drive around town.

12

u/KillerDickens 1d ago

The inate ummunity won't protect them from RSV/Flu unless the mother got vaccinated while pregnant.... and we all know these people could care less about stuff like that

6

u/Ok-Elk-1316 1d ago

yeah like don’t get me wrong i’m absolutely going to go travelling with my future children but that is after it’s safe and when baby is old enough to get their vaccines. these influencer parents are ridiculous, & a newborn to a theme park of all places. So germy

10

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

I also had a NICU baby and we didn’t get on a plane ON PURPOSE until he was 18 months old, what the actual fuck 😭😭😭

2

u/ZestyLlama8554 1d ago

Same! My NICU baby hasn't been on a plane at 2yo. We're planning a trip this year, though. Why are people like this?! 😭😭

2

u/cahrens414 1d ago

Same with my twins but their first airplane was at age 5 since they were born right before the pandemic so we weren't traveling for quite some time.

3

u/Meme_Tweets 1d ago

Soooo true! Last year I went to Disneyworld one week post-op & I was hit with some kind of bug the minute I sat down to lunch. I was blackout sick the entire time. When I got home I went to my doctor & after my labs he said I could have died on that trip due to very low potassium. Disney , especially after air travel, is just the worst place to be if your immunity is compromised at all. Damn, I want a refund soo badly!!

5

u/ItsFunHeer 1d ago

That is INSANE. I went for walks with my baby but I didn’t really take her anywhere but doctor’s appointments until about 2 months. By 3 months, we had done a short road trip, that was after her vaccinations.

2

u/curlycattails 1d ago

I had a 27-weeker earlier this year and I’ll at least say that they give vaccines at their actual age, not at their adjusted age. So when she was 2 months old, she was still a month out from her due date but she got her vaccines in the NICU nonetheless. So it’s possible the baby got the first round of vaccines before being discharged.

They are SO fragile though. We don’t stay in a total bubble because I also have a 4 year old and a 2 year old, and we ended up all catching a cold a couple weeks ago. My baby didn’t seem to get sick at all. A few days ago she was wheezing whenever she inhaled deeply, and she was a bit sleepier than normal, so I took her to the ER. The chest X-ray showed early pneumonia 💀 She got freaking PNEUMONIA without ever showing symptoms of being sick!!

Needless to say I will be very careful with her this fall/winter. She got three rounds of vaccines and the RSV shot already 🙏🏻

2

u/ash-art 1d ago

Unhinged! We were in the NICU for 16 weeks. It took us a few months to even conceive of danger things like grocery stores let alone travel!! We didn’t survive that for nothing!

And she was our third, so we were definitely not new to the baby thing but NICU babies (and all babies) are just so fragile!!

1

u/TurbulentBat8328 1d ago

Gotta give them that measles early.

1

u/cahrens414 1d ago

As a mom of premature twins with 3 older kids, we opted to quarantine all winter to keep them safe. This was pre-covid times but i couldn't risk them getting hospitalized for a respiratory infection. I get that it's not fun to stay home but that is what you sign up for when you have kids that have developing immune systems. Now my guys are super healthy and we took the whole family to DL last winter and had a blast. They were 5 and old enough to enjoy and appreciate it.

1

u/Interesting_Move_846 1d ago

This is wild. If you want to plan a major vacation like this close to the end of pregnancy, you should get insurance on your trip so you can reschedule it in case of anything.

1

u/Purple_Bug_1342 1d ago

Is the baby doing well now? It's ok if you don't know, this story just made me so sad for them.

1

u/giraffes_n_elbows 21h ago

The Nicu tells you not to do stuff like that too my baby was in the Nicu for 5 months

1

u/herbsanddirt 14h ago

I just can't with people like that. We didn't take our newborns out into large functions until they were a few months old and even then it was just family parties, not fuckin petri dish disney parks or planes. 🫠🫠🫠

93

u/salsa_spaghetti 1d ago

Just in time for early RSV season! Perfect.

27

u/dorkofthepolisci 1d ago edited 1d ago

Flu and RSV and Measles, what could go wrong!?!

(I avoid travel for myself during peak cold and flu season if I can, I can’t imagine dragging a newborn on a non necessary trip during it)

6

u/modernblossom 1d ago

Let's just hope for baby sake the mom got the RSV vaccine in her third trimester. (Doubtful)

2

u/sophwestern 1d ago

How old is the baby? My baby got her rsv shot at 4 weeks.

1

u/modernblossom 1d ago

I believe same age. That's awesome your baby got it! There was a shortage for a little bit on infant does in our area

1

u/sophwestern 1d ago

I wanted to get it while I was pregnant but apparently I just missed the window of it being available to get and in season for it to transfer benefits to my baby in utero (I’m not a doctor but was told I would need to get it before 37 weeks and it wasn’t available until I was almost 39 weeks)

4

u/daydreamingflgirl 1d ago

And fun fact, rsv season is year around in Florida because we get so many tourists!

63

u/Seajlc 1d ago

I know life goes on when you have other kids but it seems pretty reckless to me to be taking your unvaccinated newborn on a plane for unnecessary travel… at the start of flu and sickness season, at that. People really be dumb.

16

u/modernblossom 1d ago

Anti vax people do not care about that stuff

6

u/Seajlc 1d ago

I’m not familiar with this influencer and didn’t want to jump on the stereotypes, but by looking at her page I figured there was a high chance she fell into the antivax crowd

1

u/Educational-Cow-5989 8h ago

Human sacrifices to the Mouse

3

u/pokiepika 1d ago

I'm literally worried about my toddler going to be one a week toddler class while I have a newborn because she gets sick every other week. Then there's people taking their newborns to Disney.

3

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

Straight up. Just inviting shit 😭

16

u/primcessmahina 1d ago

Disney groups on Facebook are so bad for this. “Moms, will I regret taking my 2 week old to Disney world?” And many say yes, that’s dumb. But inevitably there’s at least one dumb B who’s like “I took my 6 hour old baby and it was great!”

(Slight exaggeration)

48

u/Pepper4500 1d ago

A 4 week old unvaccinated baby at Disney is DIABOLICAL. It’s actually insane. I wouldn’t have done that 20 years ago even, but NOW? Not even a thought in my mind to do that.

13

u/waysideflower 1d ago

Even without all the health risks, I can’t imagine Disney even being enjoyable with a baby that young.

7

u/unicorntrees 1d ago

Especially right now after FL has lifted vaccine mandates. Disney will or has become a disease cesspool.

13

u/recycledpaper 1d ago edited 1d ago

Is this genuinely fun and enjoyable for families? Is it fun to be on the go in very crowded place without your usual at home comforts while taking care of a baby? Trying to change diapers in random places and balancing feeding and the naps

*Edit because I apparently forgot my train of thought

7

u/sophwestern 1d ago

Idk about if I had four kids like whoever this lady is, but having just one tiny baby, it is really easy to go anywhere with her. I haven’t been on a trip with her bc we’re waiting until she can be fully vaccinated, but we’re constantly feeding/changing diapers/facilitating naps anyway, may as well do it on vacation.

6

u/bananas2468642 1d ago

Yea, 0-3 months is the most chill the child will ever be lol. I’m avoiding indoor stuff but I’m bringing my baby to outdoor stuff.

3

u/PandaAF_ 1d ago

It actually sounds like my living nightmare. I birth horrible sleepers though so maybe it’s just me.

3

u/LiveL0veLasagna 1d ago

Right? Germs aside, this just doesn’t seem fun, especially for the cost.

1

u/Alarming-Jello-5846 15h ago

It’s not but like memories for the kids or whatever

1

u/SamiLMS1 1d ago

Is it fun as a parent? Not at all. Does it take away from the older kid’s fun? Not at all.

0

u/Interesting_Move_846 1d ago

I took my toddler when my baby was 8 months old. We left baby with family because they weren’t full vaccinated yet so I had to pump and carry my milk around that day. It sucked so much. I can’t imagine having to breastfeed and constantly change diapers and all the extra stuff that comes with little babies.

28

u/BottomPieceOfBread 1d ago

Disney is sponsoring the measels outbreak in Florida

30

u/Key_Exchange1426 1d ago

I go to Disney at least once a year and I’m always shocked to see newborns! Like why is this a socially acceptable thing? I didn’t even want to take my newborn to the store in my tiny town. Taking one to Disney never ever even crossed my mind.
Also my youngest got rsv at 8 weeks old and it turned into pneumonia and it was the scariest thing I’ve ever dealt with in my whole life.

6

u/houseplant-hoarder 1d ago

There’s a cultural festival I’ve gone to every year for as long as I remember, but our daughter was going to be just under two months when it rolled around. We thought about it, woke up that morning and…didn’t want her to be cranky and tired, deal with nursing in a very public venue, or honestly even get up out of the house since we were both tired. And this place was only about 45 minutes from our house 😅. I can’t possibly imagine bringing a baby that small to Disney of all places! At that age they won’t even enjoy anything 🤷‍♀️

16

u/Accomplished_Cell768 1d ago

Part of it is that children under 3 go for free, so parents choose to take their toddlers and newborns because it’s cheaper. They prioritize their wallets over their children’s health.

1

u/Ok-Election4145 1d ago

How many of your children had major health scares that were outside of cough and cold season? And how long did you keep them indoors outside of crowded places before you went out or on vacation?

8

u/PandaAF_ 1d ago

Many, if not most, of us wait until our babies have their initial round of vaccines around 3 months old to go anywhere very crowded.

Four kids and a newborn at Disney in flu season is a whole different level of stress I can’t even imagine

5

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

Same. My 7-week-old got the RSV-to-pneumonia pipeline a week after he got out of the NICU. Awful.

6

u/SJBond33 1d ago

I collect Disney pins.

Sometimes there is a limit of how many pins you can buy of a particular pin. Let’s say it’s 5 per person. People will bring their newborn, and now they can buy 10. Happens all the time. It sucks.

1

u/Key_Exchange1426 1d ago

Wow for real? I know there’s a limit on some things at Disney but it has never occurred to me that I could buy three times as much and use my kids to do it.

1

u/SJBond33 1d ago

Yep, and it’s abused. It’s body count, not payment used.

2

u/Interesting_Move_846 1d ago

Same! We go every year and always plan around pregnancy/delivery to avoid ever taking a newborn. When we’ve had an infant we’ve tried to wait until after 1 so they can at least have their MRR vaccine. I can’t imagine taking a newborn.

1

u/ItsFunHeer 1d ago

Omg I am so sorry, that must have been gut wrenching. It’s just too young to be ill. I’m glad they’re okay now!

1

u/DraperPenPals 19h ago

Because people are free to leave their houses? Damn Jackie

1

u/Aggravating-Laugh687 1d ago

Yeah my sibling and his wife had their baby not long ago and even though she was totally healthy and didn't need the NICU or anything they still don't go around in public places with her yet. She's barely a month old and she hasn't had all her shots yet. So they just take to her doctors appointments for the most part and maybe the odd errand they have to run and that's it. And it's cold and flu season too so that is asking for the baby to possibly get something at this young precious age if other people get to close or you even touch germy stuff in stores then touch the baby.

I can't imagine taking a freaking NICU baby whose extra vulnerable out to the most busiest park in America surrounded by coughing kids, adults with colds or flues, and old ladies who love to go up to strangers kids and try to touch them. That's wild to be more concerned about your Disney trip and getting that baby in for free under three years of age over just waiting a bit to go with them once they've had all their shots and time to develop their immune system.

-2

u/parisienpearl 1d ago

lol why is it socially acceptable? Wtf do you mean? You’re acting like these people are bringing their newborns to a strip club. Newborns are just as likely to get sick from an older sibling bringing something home from school…so now older siblings aren’t allowed to leave the house either lol?

u/reeefur 1d ago

If these losers are anything like the anti vaxxers in my office, they hate Disney and call it woke all day, claim they are having male princesses pushed down their throats blah blah blah, then go to Disney 5x a year like they never said any of that shit 🤡

8

u/Logical-Tough5354 1d ago

To get measles?

8

u/Immediate_Skill1995 1d ago

Kurin is gonna say it’s a spiritual thing she just dreamed of bringing a baby to Disney and then put a Mickey ear stamp on her placenta

2

u/tofuandpickles 1d ago

The last thing I want to do during the sleep deprivation newborn period, is bring other kids to Disney. Sounds fucking awful. I barely survive at home without walking around a theme park all day long.
Most of the influencers that I see doing this right now, have a nanny with them. But they are definitely doing it for the content imo.

16

u/eastcoastjon 1d ago

Disney is prob paying them to before the winter rush.

6

u/Aurora22694 1d ago

Disney isn’t paying anyone lol Disney doesn’t need to pay promoters or influencers.

10

u/SwimmingEvent 1d ago

disney is not paying anyone to go 😂

7

u/silent_chair5286 1d ago

Do they want applause for this insane decision?

3

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

✨ yes ✨

She’s so calm, cool, and collected!!!!!!!!

12

u/islcastaway1986 1d ago

I feel like a curmudgeon saying this but these days I see way too many fresh out the womb umbilical cord ain't even fell off babies in places babies shouldn't be.

7

u/softpretzelfiend 1d ago

Don't let anyone make you feel like the curmudgeon, or the crazy one! *Especially* with all the Measles on the rise lately!

3

u/telsongelder 13h ago

Seriously. I see this and think, we are neverrrr going to get universal parental leave when we have people acting this untethered after birth lol

2

u/AC0622 23h ago

My friends and I, all newborn nurses, just saw a very fresh baby at a theme park recently and were joking about how she looked so new we could have done her admission the week prior. I don’t want people living in a bubble, but I would be so scared of taking an unvaccinated newborn with measles on the up & up, and with this early flu season!

6

u/Sure-Canary-1436 1d ago

I grew up going to Disneyland and nearly everytime I’d get the stomach flu the next day. It’s so germy

5

u/DogsOverPpl4Ever 1d ago

Considering I’m currently battling the magical bout of flu A Disney just gave me, I have no idea why newborns are anywhere near there (esp during the super germy seasons) - P.S. I’m youngish and healthy, this thing is kicking my rear

6

u/bbsitr45 1d ago

Ugh, flu and RSV season and a baby with no immune system. Parents need to stop being so selfish for the sake of their babies.

6

u/EmotionalFollowing72 1d ago

I swear to you people stop at Disney on the way home from the hospital with their new borns

20

u/Rose1982 1d ago

When my kids were 4 weeks old, all I wanted my couch. Or a walk in the sunshine. And sleep. I can’t imagine doing anything as chaotic as Disney in that phase of life.

5

u/riku_targaryn 1d ago

Yeah, my youngest was a week old at Halloween and we took my oldest trick or treating… just around the neighborhood, a few streets, but my gosh… it was so incredibly hard. Cannot imagine going to a theme park at all.

2

u/Certifiedpoocleaner 15h ago

See I keep seeing people in this thread saying things like “life can’t stop just because you have a newborn!” What you did is “life” the grocery store or swim lessons or school drop off is “life”. I can’t believe people think that flying across the country to a preventable disease hub is just “life”.

Didn’t Florida have some malaria cases a couple years ago?? 😂 you couldn’t pay me a million dollars to take my newborn to Florida.

6

u/owntheh3at18 1d ago

I can’t believe it would even be safe to fly this soon after giving birth?? Both for mom and baby. I was still bleeding at this point like isn’t there a risk of infection or blood clots?

4

u/modernblossom 1d ago

Right? At 4 weeks I was sooooo anxious about everything after our NICU stay like we stayed put

4

u/unicorntrees 1d ago

"Why would anyone think about taking their vulnerable newborn child to Disney during RSV season?"

That's the problem. They aren't thinking. They want to go to Disney. They have a newborn. Therefore, they take the newborn to Disney. If something bad happens, I guess it can just become content. Maybe deep down they hope their baby gets sick so they can start a GoFundMe.

3

u/Jealous-Pipe8915 1d ago

eat the rich, save their babies

3

u/newgirl01LA 1d ago

One of my mom friends took her baby to Disney 3 times before he turned 3 months. And she’s anti vax. Hard to be friends with parents like that

3

u/ctlses 1d ago

We just got back from Disney 2 days ago and my boyfriends already sick 🥲

5

u/Theabsoluteworst1289 1d ago edited 1d ago

Because they care more about content and stupid Disney bullshit than the health of their children. Antivax people in general clearly don’t care about their children’s health (or any child’s health), and add the whole attention-seeking influencer part into that and you get exactly what you see here.

I am so glad I have zero desire to ever go to anything Disney so I won’t have to run into large groups of these assholes, hopefully ever.

7

u/Justme-Jules 1d ago

I don’t know why anyone would bring a baby to Disney period. I’m a believer if they can’t walk, can carry their own backpack, still wear diapers and aren’t tall enough to ride most of the ride, I’ll wait until they are.

2

u/bombswell 1d ago

My MIL was visiting with the family and pressured me to at 6mo. I live 20min drive away, agreed reluctantly. It was 90F and not worth it till the sun went down (baby and I even went home from 10-4).

2

u/MindOdd1085 1d ago

And I thought I was over doing it taking my toddler and 2 week old newborn to an almost empty park to get some energy out of the toddler. I understand the big kids shouldn't be kept inside because there's a new baby but man there's a line on the places you should be going

2

u/Ok_West347 1d ago

It's not just influencers, sadly. I recently stayed at a Disney resort for a business trip and so many people had newborns and took them to the parks.

2

u/seraseraphine196 1d ago

I could not think of anything WORSE than dragging a newborn on a plane somewhere. Nope. No. Definitely not.

2

u/SJBond33 1d ago

It’s free and people are stupid.

2

u/ReaderofHarlaw 1d ago

✨content✨

2

u/fancypants1589 1d ago

People who take their unvaccinated newborns to travel on a plane to go anywhere are some of the biggest idiots. I see it all the time on Reddit, and it shows a complete lack of critical thinking.

2

u/Sprinkles2009 1d ago

They’re all speed running to get their kid measles or RSV so they can do hospital Vlogs and maybe a GoFundMe. Or fuck around and find out and get funeral Vlog content.

2

u/leeeeteddy 1d ago

It’s all content. Disney trips get engagement and create content

2

u/Charlieksmommy 1d ago

She’s truly batshit
Let’s not vaccinate but bring our kids to Disney

2

u/Prudent_Honeydew_ 1d ago

Vacations are not essential. I know people with multiple kids are still lugging newborns around but that's to school, to soccer lessons, etc. No need to take a vacation with a baby who can't get vaccinated yet and a mom who is still recovering (or at least I, as a mom, would not have wanted to travel while I was still recovering.

2

u/SH521 1d ago

I’m a Disney person but I would never bring a newborn. That’s just crazy and dangerous for the baby! The germs, the heat, just no.

This has been a thing forever. We're just forced to see it more now bc these people make us. I fully agree with you, this is insane.

2

u/txjennah 1d ago

I cannot imagine walking around Disney 4 weeks postpartum and with an infant, fuck that.

2

u/PaymentMaterial7 1d ago

I go to Disney a LOT. We even have a home there… the only time I didn’t go to Disney? When my children were between 0-12 months old. For each of those blocks, I avoided it like the plague…

And guess what?!? It was still there every time I went back… what is the rush???

2

u/banditotis 23h ago

I barely wanted to go to target with my newborn

2

u/prinxcess12 10h ago

i went to the mn state fair this summer. the amount of new born babies ive seen was ridiculous.

1

u/ijustwanttobeanon 8h ago

Grew up going every year, absolutely agree 🥲

2

u/dddddddddude 4h ago

Since u were a newborn? Lol jk 😏

1

u/ijustwanttobeanon 3h ago

LOLLLLLL ohhhhkayyy, touche 😂😂😂😂 (my first was at 2 1/2 in case somebody takes this real serious)

3

u/18karatcake 6h ago

My 7 week old baby got RSV from going to the grocery store. He was in his stroller the whole time and no one came near him. I was on mat leave and my husband WFH. Yea, not worth the risk going to a packed theme park with an unvaxed newborn. I’m worried about my baby going into daycare before he gets the measles vaccine at 1 yo.

2

u/ijustwanttobeanon 3h ago

Exactly. It happens so easily, that even the normal, unavoidable life shit can lead to it. WHYYYYY are we increasing our risks intentionally and unnecessarily?!

2

u/Effective_Handle4033 5h ago

I was just at Disneyland and shocked at how many young babies there were! Mind you- I got a minor sore throat and cough and my kids did too. Lasted a few days but we all are vaccinated/have a good immune system. I can’t imagine

1

u/ijustwanttobeanon 3h ago

Always been vaccinated and healthy, and I always come home from Disney sick. Every damn time. Word.

4

u/Boring-Waltz8616 1d ago

This is definitely not new. Every time I go to Disney there are newborns there. It’s not specific to influencers either.

1

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

I’m not saying it’s new or specific to influencers, I’m saying that I am currently seeing a bunch of random influencers doing this in the same week lol

3

u/its-just_me- 1d ago

Babies don’t even start getting vaccinations until their 2 month checkup. It’s insane that anyone thinks it’s okay to bring such a young baby, let alone unvaccinated, to such a crowded public place.

1

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

You get Hep. b at birth and 1 month (not likely to contract that one, obviously, but still possible). This lady’s baby could definitely be getting RSV vaccine now, considering baby’s DOB, too.

1

u/sophwestern 1d ago

You also get the RSV shot at 4 weeks (at least my baby did).

1

u/its-just_me- 1d ago

Well yes Heb B at birth, but I’d say that’s not as important as others for this kind of thing. And neither of my kids got any others before 2 months so idk

0

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

I’d say RSV is pretty important atm

1

u/its-just_me- 1d ago

And I literally said Hep B isn’t as important as the others for this kind of thing, which means I agree the RSV is important.

1

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

Whoa, hold up friend. Not being an asshole to you. I just meant it like, “yup, agreed, but RSV is important still in my opinion.” Like continuing the conversation. Maybe the wording came across tone-y. That wasn’t what I was trying to do, sorry.

2

u/its-just_me- 1d ago

Ahh I gotcha it’s cool. It just seemed like you misunderstood what I said but I was fully agreeing with you lol

1

u/thechickgoesmoo 1d ago

I'm a grown adult and being in an airplane has made me sick before. Airplanes are gross as fuck with all the awful smells and food and trash on the ground and fecal stains on the bathroom walls. I can't imagine what it would do to a newborn baby's immune system.

And I'm not a bitter adult who complains about babies in airplanes, but I think it's stupid as fuck to take a baby, especially a newborn one, to freaking Disneyland. Not only will they not remember anything, but it will also be a waste of time.

1

u/SupEnthusiastic 1d ago

Well there was a hurricane and and ongoing spread of measles, you can get a lot of clicks for something like that! Leaving the happiest place on earth for a storm shelter PHEW imagine the views! If the baby is hospitalized they could hit a million! What are they risking? Their child’s life? Pennies on the dollar for going viral. /s

1

u/moontanyah 1d ago

Could just be Halloween but I will say some big influencers have sponsorships for Disneyland happening right now. Josh Peck/Good Guys, Brittany Broski and Caleb Hearon. Those are pretty big podcasters with large followings, wouldn’t be surprised if Disney handed out free trips to smaller influencers.

1

u/EGel0229 1d ago

If these are all “influencers” and part of Shine talent group I’m sure that’s why. 3 Canadian shinefluencers that I know of are all there right now.

1

u/RevolutionarySand230 1d ago

I was at Disney last week and saw 3 babies who had to be under 4 months old just on the 1 bus ride we took to MK

1

u/Poeticlandmermaid2 1d ago

I don’t even want to take my baby until he’s 1 and has his first round of MMR!

1

u/Overall_Caregiver237 23h ago

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween is going on. It's their most popular event.

1

u/HeavyPause9718 23h ago

if local to the parks it makes sense for a super short visit but definitely not hauling them on a plane and staying more than an hour.

it’s even riskier now that we’re inching into flu / RSV season

1

u/WindyZ5 19h ago

Selfishness and ignorance of the dangers.

1

u/disastrous_belle 19h ago

Will never forget seeing a straight-from-the-womb infant during cold and flu season in the middle of a slammed Tony’s Town Square restaurant. Poor little baby had no protection from kids running around, snotting and coughing on everything. Absolutely insane.

1

u/Advanced_Ad1856 17h ago

I don’t even take my kids to the store much less Disney world 😂

1

u/Admirable-Toe-6808 17h ago

This is crazy. I’m planning a Disney trip and it’s all over the boards about HFM and the flu running rampant there right now.

1

u/ktxkakes 15h ago

I’ve never been a fan of Disney; went one time for a few hours. I don’t get the hype. Everything is absurdly over-priced and sub-par at best, hot and overcrowded, and everything seemed EXTREMELY dated to me. The animatronics in the Little Mermaid ride…I was so shocked at how just overhyped the whole place was. Never again. I think people go because it’s so damn expensive and expensive shit means you’re just sooo cool and can afford it. I really think that’s all it is. Paying $12+ for an ice cream shaped as mickeys head…lol it’s so stupid. And the prices have increased since I was there 5 years ago.

1

u/Tricky-Buy-5066 12h ago

I don’t even want to take my newborn to the grocery store. It’s a wild to me that these people don’t think it’s an insane amount of work that’s absolutely not worth it to do these types of trips.

1

u/goodatcards 5h ago

My husbands ex wife who is a narcissist took a Disney trip with every newborn. Her new husband was like newborns need very little at that stage they’re very easy to travel with 🤗🤔 I think she did because she would get an insane amount of attention and fuss over her and her newborn

1

u/UnderstandingBig3248 2h ago

Unfortunately it’s not only influencers. SO many people do it and I don’t know why! Craziest thing we saw so many tiny babies on all of our trips this year in different seasons.

1

u/ijustwanttobeanon 2h ago

I’m hearing this over and over and it’s truly baffling me.

1

u/UnderstandingBig3248 2h ago

We went durning sick season(January) as well as it being super hot (August&September).
I don’t see the appeal in it! I would be too stressed about getting sick or being too hot or cold. We both agreed the youngest we would take our kids is 1ish.

1

u/hbak8792 1d ago

I have a 4 month old who has his first round of vaccines, about to get his second round, and I won’t even take him to a grocery store because of potential measles exposure. I’m in PA.

I can’t even imagine bringing him to such a crowded place as a newborn! Way too overstimulating and their immune system is too immature! It’s just irresponsible.

1

u/Fickle_Cricket3422 1d ago

Not just now. It is always this way. I was there a couple years ago and my partner and I started counting. We stopped at 400. Four hundred babies. Not toddlers that could walk a bit themselves, or small kids, actual babies. I saw at least a few dozen that had been born with a month of arrival. It makes no sense. The only reason I can think is that they get in free haha.

5

u/Accomplished_Cell768 1d ago

It’s absolutely because Disney is so expensive and kids under 3 get in for free. It’s also cheaper because they can just have scraps of your overpriced amusement park food.

1

u/Bubble-Master96 16h ago

Why does this sub hate bringing babies out into the world?? America seems obsessed with this

-1

u/ijustwanttobeanon 12h ago

They don’t, being the babies out!!!! We hate intentionally risking a newborn with zero immmune system over and over and over continuously for days on end. Because wtf?

1

u/Legrandloup2 1d ago

They’re getting content. Its all content, if their newborn gets sick from them making content, guess what? They just got even more content

1

u/Mushrooming247 1d ago

To impress their friends and family and followers.

No newborn wants to travel, plus you are exposing your baby to exotic germs before they’ve developed an immune system, they don’t need to know what interesting pathogens the mosquitoes of Florida might carry compared to your home in Chicago.

1

u/Short_Cancel4598 1d ago

Probably because it’s one of the cheapest times to go and the crowds aren’t that bad. September and October are dead months, when it’s not that hot but you could still get hit with a hurricane in Florida and school just started so people don’t usually pull their kids out.

1

u/Simplysmile1981 1d ago

Feels so performative. 4 weeks is still time for mom to be recovering from birth and to be bonding with baby.
We had to travel with my youngest when she was 6 weeks old because my MIL went into hospice and we wanted to see her one last time. Not on a Disney vacation full of people and germs.

1

u/daydreamingflgirl 1d ago

I was just at Disney for a girls weekend. I left my 5 month old at home and had to pump frequently. It was amazing how many small babies were with me in the nursing room. Every time I saw a newborn my heart ached for them. It’s was HOT and humid. As an adult it was miserable. I saw a newborn that couldn’t have been more than a month old, he wasn’t wearing any clothes and the dad had him wrapped in a blanket. He was so tiny. I felt terrible.

1

u/Potential-Plenty5106 1d ago edited 1d ago

Idk why people take little kids to Disney at all. They won’t remember it. But I guess that’s the poor in me because I’ll only ever be able to afford it once for my kids.

Edit: When I said “I don’t understand” I meant I personally wouldn’t spend the money or time on something little kids won’t remember. Not that I literally don’t understand

13

u/Aurora22694 1d ago

I don’t understand why people think that just because little kids won’t remember things means they don’t have fun or shouldn’t be able to go to fun places make literally so little kids. Just because they don’t remember it doesn’t make it not worth it? I remember it lol It’s so magical at Disney with children under a certain age. Sure it’s still fun when they’re a bit older but, when those characters are real to them? Man. That’s just straight magical.
We’re going back in December for the Christmas time Disney world set up and it’ll be my 5 year olds 3rd time and my 2 year olds second time. I’m going to soak up every ounce of magic that I can when they’re that little 🤷🏼‍♀️
And fwiw, one of my earliest memories is me riding the teacups at Disney with my dad when I was 3. So they very well may remember.
Also that said, I’d never take a newborn or unvaccinated baby. That’s insane.

5

u/Laundry-Is-Winning 1d ago

My husband “hated” Disney all the times we went before kids. We took our daughter at 18 months earlier this year and the other day he surprised me with another trip this December. No she’ll never remember it but it’s something as a parent — we will never forget. He said seeing her so happy and just experience the magic makes him not hate it even though he’d never choose to go there kidless again!

6

u/Cultural_Bend5158 1d ago

Its pure magic when to them Mickey and Co is REAL. My son still asks when we can go back, he's 4.

5

u/Miserable-Ice683 1d ago

This. I haven’t even had my baby yet but each time I go to Disney I LOVE seeing the little faces of babies who are so excited to be there! There is so much to see. I wouldn’t bring my baby at 4 weeks but I won’t be waiting until I think they’ll be able to remember it either.

3

u/cherrylime07 1d ago

One of my first memories is meeting Ariel & Winnie the Pooh at Disney! I was 2 years old back then, and I’m now 30. Kids do remember!

2

u/velvet1629 1d ago

Even if they don’t - I’ll remember it!!

2

u/Cat_Island 1d ago

Amen! I just took my four year old and I teared up at some point every day watching her just have the best most magical time ever! Maybe she won’t remember it, but I’ll cherish the memory of her joy for freaking ever.

I also brought my nine month old and he loved meeting characters and watching shows it was so sweet!

3

u/Interesting_Move_846 1d ago

Also, my kids might not remember it as adults but my 4 year old still remembers parts of our visit from when we went for her 3rd birthday.

0

u/Potential-Plenty5106 1d ago

I think you all just bypassed the part where I said that’s the poor in me. It’s a once in a lifetime trip for me and it’ll be when my kids are old enough to remember and appreciate it. No one said you can’t bring your kids to Disney.

5

u/Fancifulllama 1d ago

You literally said “I don’t know why people take little kids to Disney” and then took issue with people explaining why they do it…

0

u/Potential-Plenty5106 1d ago edited 1d ago

I didn’t need 20+ to explain to me that y’all have money so you’ll take your kids where you like. That was obvious 😂

No one said kids can’t have fun or to not make memories with your kids. I said I don’t understand taking your little kids because it’s an outrageous amount of money. There’s lots of cheaper ways for little kids to have fun. But idc what someone else chooses to do with their kids

4

u/Cultural_Bend5158 1d ago

Watching my kids meet Mickey- is literally a core memory for me. Their childhood is also our motherhood/fatherhood. I'll cherish those sweet moments forever.

5

u/pumpkinpencil97 1d ago

Because their joy and happiness matters now even if they won’t remember it later. If we went off that we wouldn’t do anything fun for or with them.

4

u/Ok_West347 1d ago

Little kids and newborns are two different things. As someone who has traveled with my kids since they were young...not taking kid on vacation cause they won't remember is dumb. My kids talk about vacation from when they were as young as 2-3. That being said, Disney is not my type of vacation lol.

3

u/Most_Jellyfish_1686 1d ago

Because if we decided that we should only do fun things once a small kid is able to remember it, we’d just sit in our houses for years and do nothing. I don’t understand why people think parents shouldn’t spend money or do anything fun just because their baby/toddler won’t remember it.

In my experience, Disneyland was just as magical when my kids were under 2. They LOVED it. Their amazement was worth it.

3

u/RomeTotalWar2004Fan 1d ago

Kids are free until they're 3 so it doesn't matter if they remember it or not.

5

u/Tight_Ad_6802 1d ago

Big Disney person here. If people have the means for it to be more frequent than “once in a lifetime” the memories of seeing your child in Disney can be really special even if they don’t remember it. We’ve been bringing my niece since she was just under 2, and it’s really helped her not be afraid of crowds, characters, and she is fearless with rides. Early exposure was fabulous for her. I can’t tell you the number of 7-9 year olds having meltdowns after rides they were forced to go on but were too scared because they’d never been on or seen anything like it before. But the parents need to make the trip worth the fortune they spent.

It’s a personal decision for families. The joke always being that Disney is the most expensive once in a lifetime annual trip because it really can be a joyful place if it’s your family’s vibe.

Kids under 3 go for free, that’s why. They are choosing their own personal enjoyment and their wallets over the health of their kids.

1

u/CakePhool 1d ago

I was 3 and we where in Berlin and was on Tourist trip, dont ask me how, to East Berlin.

All I remember is in West Berlin chocolate and living statue and East Berlin, the clean boots of the soldier standing in mud. I am 50. Kids remember the weirdest things.

0

u/sophwestern 1d ago

I mean Disney world is largely outdoors and if you baby wear or keep the baby in the stroller the chances of baby catching something at the parks is not particularly high. I’d be more concerned about the flight. Also it’s way easier (and cheaper) to travel with a newborn than like a 6 month+ baby, and it’s easier to travel with a 6-18 month old than 18 months -4years.

0

u/ijustwanttobeanon 1d ago

If you go to Disney as the adult, touch shit, and then touch your baby, even though they aren’t touching shit… Chances are still far too likely for comfort. I cannot understand this mindset.

0

u/littlemybb 1d ago

I would just hate taking me kids if they were that little.

I’ve been to Disney a few times and I always feel bad for the super little guys or toddlers throwing fits because it’s hot, they are tired, it’s loud and crowded, and they are out of their routines.

I would be irritated about being in a super overstimulating environment while trying to force a magical moment with my kid who is super over it.

0

u/Lisitska 1d ago

It's been 9 years and I still can't wear pants. These people are bonkers.

0

u/Charlieksmommy 1d ago

My good friend took her 2yo and 2 month old to Disney world and she’s BF, I would be so miserable BF and walking around in humidity
