Rant/Vent Tired of being surrounded by shit people.
Never in my life have I looked down on someone's appearance, circumstances, money, anything. I do not understand how people find it so easy to do. Perhaps its just the chronically online who think doing that is the norm? The normalization of insulting people for their looks or anything on social media is something I've always found disgusting.
Anyways, I tried to meet someone after 2 years. Mental health was bad after my last relationship so I wanted a while for myself. I haven't even tried to date in this time period and wasn't looking for anything, but after so long I finally decided to keep talking to a girl who was a senior from school I'd asked help from. We're both mostly busy but I used to look forward to her texts. Waited for her texts throughout her exams for 2-3 months. Finally made plans to meet about 4 days ago. I'd been wanting to meet her for very long so I was looking forward to it.
A night prior to going, I texted a female friend of mine to help me out a little, it's been 2 years since I went out with someone so I would've appreciated any tips. I assumed she would be supportive knowing I hadn't been ready for anything for so long. Nope. She put her insecurities on me instead. I show that I have thick skin which is perhaps why she thought it was okay to say those things, and I do, but I also read public messages of my ex saying something about me in recent times. For context, she was conventionally attractive. I'm also not bad looking, I believe I carry myself well, I've been cold approached in public, I get many compliments, but I am short. Apparently, in hindsight, only the fact that I am short seemed like an issue to her, that it was a "boring" height to be, even though she was a couple inches shorter. I've always owned my height but man, seeing so many people portray it as a bad thing ended up hurting this time. I've never been insecure about it and of course I know the right person wouldn't give a shit about how tall I am.
But well, one of the things the friend said was also about my height. I knew she was projecting herself and her fucked up love life but I still listened. Most of it sounded silly and was a result of her own BS. I texted another friend who was very supportive and she did help me out but I was already overthinking by this point.
Fast forward to finally meeting up. She was about 2 cms taller maybe? Normally, I wouldn't give a shit about this. I would've completely joked about it and made her and myself comfortable on any other day. Except all these instances popped up in my head repeatedly and I ended up mentally freezing there. Had to apologize to her thrice like a fucking loser. I couldn't be myself, I wasn't mentally present the whole time and it just sucked overall. I could barely speak. I've spent the last 4 days sobbing. No appetite. I tried to explain to her but I was understandably ghosted. I don't blame her.
I've blocked the friend and many other "friends" in a period of a few months. Trying to get rid of the negativity these people bring in life in so many forms. I am getting back on track after this incident, just sucks to be looking forward to something for so long only for temporary circumstances to ruin it all. Welp.
