General Discussion We updated the r/IndiaTech sub’s icon. Here’s why
The brutal crackdown on students, protesters, and journalists in Delhi, along with reports of illegal detention and house arrest, raises serious concerns about Democracy in India.
Our Constitution gives us the right to Freedom of speech and peaceful protest under Article 19. Questioning those in power is not anti-national; standing up for our rights is patriotism.
Changing our subreddit’s icon is a small gesture of solidarity, as fellow Indians. We cannot remain silent when our democratic rights are in danger.
Dissent is a right. Protest is a voice. Standing up for India is patriotism. 🇮🇳✊🏻
And Democracy is everyone’s concern. We’ve always tried to keep rIndiaTech free from politics and controversial issues and that remains our stance. But being apolitical as a community doesn’t mean being indifferent as citizens. When democracy and fundamental rights are at stake, silence isn’t neutrality. We stay out of party politics, not matters of conscience. Jai Hind
