Rule Clarification: Line Progression

TL;DR: mods are being flooded with reports about pregnancy test pictures that don’t violate the rules. This post clarifies what constitutes a violation. (for the life of me I cannot get the formatting to create actual paragraph breaks, sorry about the wall of text)

In the interest of ensuring everyone feels comfortable participating AND we as the mod team aren't flooded with unnecessary reports, we wanted to offer some clarity about the rule about pregnancy tests.

The spirit of the rule is to prevent the sub from being flooded with pregnancy tests from an evaluative perspective. It is not productive to see the feed taken up with questions about if lines are getting darker, if other members can see a second line, etc. The reality is there are no definitive answers about the state of your pregnancy until beta tests and eventually ultrasounds. Being in the thick of treatment and hoping for a positive looking for a lifeline is reasonable but there are other subs that exclusively focus on that support.

However, there have been an influx of reports of posts that contain multiple positive tests in general, even if the person is not asking for opinions on progression/line visibility. These posts do not violate the rules. Since pictures of positive tests are allowed, it is unreasonable to establish an arbitrary cut off around how many tests create a line progression question, especially when nothing is being asked.

Pics of positive tests in general make some people uncomfortable but they have never been forbidden. If this is you, this sub may not be the best space for you. The language of the rule itself will be updated to reflect that demonstrating line progression via multiple tests and asking about line progression are different and only the latter is a violation. That being said, it is up to posters to be clear in their titles and captions about the purpose of the post. If it is left ambiguous removal remains up to mod discretion.

Regarding pregnancy test pictures

Hi everyone!

So I've gotten many messages about the abundance of test pics here. I want to start by saying these will not be moved to a thread, I really hate that format as it hides what I consider to be important posts.

Secondly, this sub is really FOR posts like that! I want ppl to be able to share their success, thats what makes it so special here :)

But from now on I will be removing all posts that are asking questions about line progression and asking "do you see a line?"

  1. at home tests are not a reliable way to quantify hcg, we all know that. even though we know that, we still serial test after a transfer. I did it too. but it's just redundant to ask a sub about something that isnt even a reliable method of tracking hcg in the first place

  2. asking if a test is positive is just not something we can keep doing here. this isnt really the place for it as you arent celebrating success and it isnt about ivf itself. many ppl ttc naturally have line eyes and questions about that, so r/lineporn and other subs like that are better suited

thank you for reading and understanding the new rules!

Our beautiful baby girl is here

Dad here.

After 3 years of unsuccessful trying, last October me and my wife started our IVF process. We got 3 healthy embryos and did our first and only FET this January.

Thankfully, the FET was successful and my wife got pregnant. Pregnancy was completely normal and few days ago, our beautiful baby girl arrived into this world :)

Needless to say we both are over the moon despite all the stress and the sleepless nights of the past few days!

To everyone who are still on this journey I wish good luck and keep strong! You got this!

Graduated from our clinic today!

Our only egg is 13+4 weeks today! 🎊🥳

He is measuring a few days ahead, with a strong heartbeat.

Nipt and nt were fine.

My placenta is a bit low, we'll see if it migrates up, but we are going for a c-section anyway.

I only hope that the rest of my pregnancy and delivery goes smoothly and is totally boring and uneventful 🍀🤞

I was told this is a very good number for 12 days post transfer. Now I get a 2 week break from the clinic until I have an ultrasound next :)

Large SCH, embryo 3 days behind, heartbeat seen (6w5d, FET). Similar stories?

• Upvotes

FET with a euploid 5AA, strong betas. I have adenomyosis and an intramural fibroid, and did 2 months of Lupron depot suppression beforehand.

5w4d: Moderate bleeding. Ultrasound showed an SCH the size of the gestational sac. Heartbeat flicker seen.

6w5d: SCH still as big and sac size is smaller than desired (I think), heartbeat still there, embryo measuring 3 days behind. Doctor said 50% miscarriage risk and that blood supply may be insufficient due to SCH and/or adenomyosis/fibroid.

Has anyone had a large SCH and a lagging embryo with a heartbeat and still ended up with a healthy baby? Did your baby catch up on growth? Any success stories are welcome. Thank you.

Anyone here 3/3 on successful transfers?

I know this is a delusional post.

Maybe it’s not, I don’t know.

I have not done a transfer myself yet. But I only have 3 euploid embryos. I think I truly only want 2 children but I may want a third later on down the road (in 8-10 years) if we end up successful with 2 living children while still young.

I have no idea if my upcoming FET will be successful or even the one after lol.

I often see posts of people who are 2/2 on transfers resulting in a live birth but I rarely see anyone with 3/3. Maybe it’s just not posted about?

IVF plan consultations- to ask or not ask questions to doc?

Hi All,

I go prepared for the IVF plan consultations but the doctor brushed it off as saying I know you are reading from an AI list, which I was not.

I had like 10-15 questions based on my past cycle and was from the prep I did after hours and hours of reading and research and from other similar people, which in turn is from other doctors basically. To have a better next cycle. I have this immense guilt that I didn't prepare for the first and it resulted poorly. I started reading after that and understood that had i read, my first would have been lot better and i still couldnt get over my guilt for not being prepared with the first.

From what I see, we have to self advocate a lot in fertility. But then, the doctor shuts it down or just categorizes you as a certain type and then zones out and starts giving blanket answers.

The doctor does answer few but if it is in-depth qns, or when asked reason for their choice of something, the doctor says its due to 'my expert opinion' The doctor is not necessarily bad or anything, they are knowledgeable and experienced and supposedly has good bedside manner from many of the reviews.

Especially when i brought up an option for one of my issues after he gave a solution, (which i read here and was from an another doctor), he started saying that AI thing and that there are a million possibilities. Not sure if he was pissed off that i brought something he didn't propose. I haven't seen that many solutions tbh. When i said its from another doctor, he said ok and i will do what i think is best for you. I understand that, but should'nt he give reasons why he is/ is not choosing something.

I have seen good results with many women my age and values. He said not to expect much from my previous clinic results, that we are sort of throwing the kitchen sink adding all, and like don't blame me if i cant get better results.

Has anyone been in the similar situation. How do you handle this.

Should we just act like we have not read anything.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Wish me luck, please

My ultrasound earlier this week showed I had 10 eggs for sure and 3-4 possible others if I pushed back my egg retrieval a few days. Last egg retrieval back in April I had 8 eggs, 6 mature, 4 fertilized and 3 pgt a normal and after 2 transfers, i didn't become pregnant. So, this will be my 2nd egg retrieval and I am so nervous.

I did opt to hold out for a possibility of 3 or 4 more and let me tell you I can feel my ovaries are swollen. My job is physical so I have to be pretty careful.

I am hoping for more quality eggs this time and really hoping I will have several to give me more chances of the embryo sticking. Excited and nervous all at once.

I go tomorrow for my next ultrasound and hopefully by Monday do my ER. 🤞🏽🙏🏽

10 Fertilised... now we wait for Day 5

I had our egg retrieval yesterday - absolutely horrific procedure and I feel so unwell... but we got 16 eggs!

3 - Egg shells were present, but the egg contents were missing, potentially due to damage during retrieval.

1 - Egg had not reached the maturity needed for fertilisation.

1- Egg appeared mature but did not fertilise. Exact reason unknown.

1 - Abnormal fertilisation. Only one genetic package was visible instead of two.

10 - Normal fertilisation. Two genetic packages present (one maternal, one paternal). All looked as expected.

Our first IVF cycle at the age of 41, we feel so pleased to be at this point after years of TTC and months of specifically preparing for this cycle.

Just hoping with everything we've got to get to a good Day 5 number!

Success with own eggs at 42-43?

I’m 43, had 3 retrievals at age 42-43 that resulted in 3 euploids, a day 5 and two day-6’s, but they’re all graded “fair” (my clinic doesn’t use Gardner grading).

Anyone here with similar numbers/age that ended up with a live birth? I’m getting ready for a transfer next month, and I’m so terrified that even with 3 euploids it won’t work

Remaining miscarriage risk?

Hi, I am 6w5d from my second FET. First failed to implant and had a miscarriage from a natural pregnancy last year. I had a scan yesterday at 6w4d, heartbeat measured at 125. It’s a euploid embryo. What would you guess is remaining miscarriage risk? My miscarriage last year was a MMC after seeing the heartbeat the first time so I’m a little worried, but that was not ivf so obviously not sure about euploid status.

New to IVF: How does my protocol look?!

Starting IVF this cycle. I’ve conceived naturally in the past and also with IUI but after a 22w TFMR (non-genetic issue) following by a miscarriage 6 months later we are moving to IVF.
Just turned 33, AMH 3.6, AFC 20+, one ovary. Attempting to do a fresh transfer if I don’t get OHSS and will PGT test the rest.

Doing conventional IVF with Zymot add (our request). Husband’s sperm sample wasn’t great this year but is normal now after supplements. His DNA frag is 17%.

Priming: Estrace in luteal phase

  1. Stimulation
Orgalutran (Ganirelix equivalent) — 250 mcg daily for 8 days
Pergoveris (FSH + LH) — 350 IU daily for approximately 12 days

  2. Trigger
    Decapeptyl (Lupron) — 1 dose
    hCG trigger — 1 dose

  3. Shut Down (not sure what this means.. for fresh transfer maybe?)
    Prometrium — 200 mg daily
Progesterone in oil (PIO) — 1 injection every 3 days

Beta rate slowed

9dpt beta 84
12dpt beta 312
14dpt beta 543

Doctor says we need more data so I will go back tomorrow for 16dpt, hoping for 100% growth. She said she has seen this bounce back but also if it continues with normal growth, then she will have concerns. I assume this is not going to go well- so looking for positive but also realistic stories. first time getting implantation with our 5th euploid so lotsss of emotions here

Beta not doubling

Hi everyone, I’m currently very nervous going through beta hell. My clinic does first beta on 14dpt. My initial number was on the lower side but second beta came back strong, but because my clinic only schedule ultrasound when hcg is over 7000, so I had to come back for a third and fourth beta. Today I just got my there beta which didn’t double in 48 hours. Below are my numbers:

14dpt - 386
18dpt - 1880
20dpt - 3440

I’m very anxious right now. Does these numbers look alright? I thought it has to double within 48 hours.

7dp5dt she stuck 😭

36yo 5day grade aa euploid transferred 10/7 - I’m 7dp5dt this was my second FET after my first failed in June of this this year. My first cycle was all medicated cycle this one was a modified natural including lovenox and baby aspirin.

I had a beautiful daughter in 2021 who passed away just two weeks after her second birthday in 2023 due to a rare genetic disorder.

It’s been three years since she’s passed and I’ve been struggling with deep depression. I’m so excited but so scared at the same time.

When can I celebrate? When can I be happy? I’m so hopeful. My husband and I need this happiness. My first beta isn’t until next Monday!

flu like symptoms after FET… 😷

Hi everyone! I just did my 2nd FET on October 8th so today I am 7dp5dt and I have come down with a terrible cold since Monday (4dp5dt). Has anyone experienced something like this? I rarely ever get sick, and now I’m worried this could’ve affected my embryo’s implantation. I don’t have a fever or anything, just a cough, headache, and stuffy nose!

I’m planning on at-home testing on Saturday (9dp5dt) and hoping for the best! I have my Beta on Monday!

Another thing to note is I’ve had “major signs” show up on my Oura ring since Monday, and it hasn’t gone away… I’ve had this ring for over 3 years, and I’ve never seen major signs; maybe I’ve seen minor signs once or twice.

Last FET I feel like I had a lot more symp than this time around, but I don’t know if that’s because all I’m feeling is “sick symp,” so my mind won’t allow itself to wander.

I did a fully medicated transfer with a euploid girl! Please share your stories, it would be greatly appreciated! 💕💕
