Rule Clarification: Line Progression

TL;DR: mods are being flooded with reports about pregnancy test pictures that don’t violate the rules. This post clarifies what constitutes a violation. (for the life of me I cannot get the formatting to create actual paragraph breaks, sorry about the wall of text)

In the interest of ensuring everyone feels comfortable participating AND we as the mod team aren't flooded with unnecessary reports, we wanted to offer some clarity about the rule about pregnancy tests.

The spirit of the rule is to prevent the sub from being flooded with pregnancy tests from an evaluative perspective. It is not productive to see the feed taken up with questions about if lines are getting darker, if other members can see a second line, etc. The reality is there are no definitive answers about the state of your pregnancy until beta tests and eventually ultrasounds. Being in the thick of treatment and hoping for a positive looking for a lifeline is reasonable but there are other subs that exclusively focus on that support.

However, there have been an influx of reports of posts that contain multiple positive tests in general, even if the person is not asking for opinions on progression/line visibility. These posts do not violate the rules. Since pictures of positive tests are allowed, it is unreasonable to establish an arbitrary cut off around how many tests create a line progression question, especially when nothing is being asked.

Pics of positive tests in general make some people uncomfortable but they have never been forbidden. If this is you, this sub may not be the best space for you. The language of the rule itself will be updated to reflect that demonstrating line progression via multiple tests and asking about line progression are different and only the latter is a violation. That being said, it is up to posters to be clear in their titles and captions about the purpose of the post. If it is left ambiguous removal remains up to mod discretion.

Regarding pregnancy test pictures

Hi everyone!

So I've gotten many messages about the abundance of test pics here. I want to start by saying these will not be moved to a thread, I really hate that format as it hides what I consider to be important posts.

Secondly, this sub is really FOR posts like that! I want ppl to be able to share their success, thats what makes it so special here :)

But from now on I will be removing all posts that are asking questions about line progression and asking "do you see a line?"

  1. at home tests are not a reliable way to quantify hcg, we all know that. even though we know that, we still serial test after a transfer. I did it too. but it's just redundant to ask a sub about something that isnt even a reliable method of tracking hcg in the first place

  2. asking if a test is positive is just not something we can keep doing here. this isnt really the place for it as you arent celebrating success and it isnt about ivf itself. many ppl ttc naturally have line eyes and questions about that, so r/lineporn and other subs like that are better suited

thank you for reading and understanding the new rules!

7dp5dt she stuck 😭

36yo 5day grade aa euploid transferred 10/7 - I’m 7dp5dt this was my second FET after my first failed in June of this this year. My first cycle was all medicated cycle this one was a modified natural including lovenox and baby aspirin.

I had a beautiful daughter in 2021 who passed away just two weeks after her second birthday in 2023 due to a rare genetic disorder.

It’s been three years since she’s passed and I’ve been struggling with deep depression. I’m so excited but so scared at the same time.

When can I celebrate? When can I be happy? I’m so hopeful. My husband and I need this happiness. My first beta isn’t until next Monday!

Looking for motivation to continue the journey…

• Upvotes

Two failed FETs (first - no implantation; second - just now - a chemical pregnancy), both PGT-A tested 4AB embryos… Another 4AB PGT-A tested did not survive the thaw… I only have two embryos left (4BC and 2BB), and it was soooo difficult to get them.

Hysteroscopy done (all good and clean);
chronic endometritis - negative;
all blood work good (no trombophilia);
autoimmune thyroid disease under control for over a year.

First FET was a modified natural protocol (with progesterone shots and suppositories + heparin and aspirin + Prednisone) - no implantation at all.

Second FET - fully medicated (same as modified natural + estrogen) - HCG on Day 10 was 40.7 (same morning I started bleeding, which stopped in about an hour). Then Day 12 HCG dropped to 28….

I am so defeated… the only factor that we did not really treat was my adenomyosis (but my doctor said my uterus looks good, and adeno does not seem to be active now). I begged her to do a suppression protocol, but she does not believe in that.

Any thoughts? :( is there still any hope? Should i even try with the two lower graded embryos, or i should consider another stimulation as maybe all my embryos from that “batch” were not good?

Finally, a transfer worked!! 4th one's the charm.

After 3 failed euploid transfers and 3 miscarriages before then, I finally have a positive!! In tears! Went for my beta yesterday, and the hCG numbers were really good too. It was our last embryo too and I had all but given up hope. I made this little rainbow monkey as a symbol of hope for my rainbow baby one day, so it felt apt to have him pose with the test. It's early days, of course, but just wanted to share as I'm bursting with joy after so many years of tears and anguish and pain. 🌈

I felt so defeated after having 3 failed transfers in a row. Can't believe this 4th one made it! 🙏🥹♥️

5-day discrepancy between FET gestational age and first ultrasound (7w5d vs 7w0d) – should I be worried?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I had my first scan at my fertility clinic today after a frozen embryo transfer (day 5, euploid/PGT-A tested embryo).

Based on my transfer date, I should be exactly 7w5d today. However, the ultrasound measured the embryo's CRL at 9.75 mm, which the machine dated at 7w0d (a 5-day difference).

The good news is that there was a clear, strong heartbeat, and the clinic was happy enough with the scan to officially discharge me to regular prenatal care with my OB/midwife.

Still, after previous losses, my anxiety is through the roof. I can't stop obsessing over this 5-day gap and whether it could indicate a problem or slow growth.

Did anyone else have a similar 4 to 5-day discrepancy in early FET scans with a good outcome?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences or advice to help calm my nerves. Thank you!

First FET

• Upvotes

We finally have our first FET booked in in 2 days. Trigger done a few days ago, now on Crinone 2x per day and so glad to be needle free for a while. I want this transfer to work so badly, and we are staying positive!!

I have had 3 previous miscarriages before discovering i have endo. Had that excised and got moved on to IVF by my specialist. Anyone with a similar story that saw quick success? 🤞

Hello anyone with this kind of grading? I’m worried my embryos are not that high of a grade to end in succesful pregnancy? Thanks in advance

Initial beta… I thought I was out

First beta today - 172 at 9DPT of my day 5 6AB 💓 I know it is too early to celebrate but considering I’ve spent the past 5 days crying that this was a fail/ chemical, it feels nice to know that I can (try) relax until the next beta.

I’ve been spotting which I have never had before in my, albeit lost, previous pregnancies. my OURA also shows a big drop in temp last two days and my lines on pregmate are still pretty faint. I was convinced it was game over. I know it still might be but I’m just going to try and enjoy this small win as I’ve enjoyed NONE of the time after the transfer so far.

Has anyone had similar starting numbers?

Endo Biopsy (CD138)- how painful and is it done by doctors

Hi Everyone,

My clinic said PA does endo biopsy and they have given penthrox. No anesthesia.

I am worried that its done by PA and not a doctor, and without anesthesia.

Has anyone done it in similar way, how did it go. was anesthesia offered or not for you. Has a doctor done it for you or a NP or PA.

Thank you very much.

Success after a failed FET?

Looking for positive stories of successful FET after a failed cycle. I’m just looking for hope. My last FET failed, transferred a 5CC euploid. History of 2 early miscarriages, 1 live birth also from FET in 2022.

We only have 1 euploid left and I’m really leaning towards transferring again. 40F

Gestational Sac no Yolk seen 6 weeks 5 days FET

I just went for an early pregnancy scan, 6 weeks 4 days after my FET. And it doesn’t look good.
They couldn’t find a yolk sac or the embryo. And the measurements was small. Sonographer said not a viable pregnancy

Report: 3x7x4mm anechoic fluid area within endometrium, likely intrauterine gestational sac. However, not confirmed and no yolk
sac seen within. No fetal pole.

Please for anyone who has gone through something like this, when did you stop medication? Was the next period very painful? I’m guarding my heart and accepting this isn’t viable

Is 9DPT too early for a definitive Beta?

My clinic only does Beta at 9dpt. I've read so many of you get the Beta later than that. So I have been in my head about it like is this too early to make a decision to stop meds? Just curious on all of your thoughts on this.

Positive on day 7 of my 4th FET! Cautiously optimistic!

Post image
120 Upvotes

I’m so unbelievably happy, and completely in shock. I can’t stop taking tests and I can’t stop staring at them! We have been trying for over three years. Unexplained infertility. My first two transfers were fails, my next was a heartbreaking chemical pregnancy on my birthday. The fourth protocol had more than a few bumps in the road, but this is the strongest positive I’ve ever seen!

I have no idea what the outcome of this will be, but for the moment, I am over the moon happy. I also don’t know what helped this protocol or if it was just random chance, but I thought I might share some things I did during this transfer in case it helps.

Acupuncture the week before the transfer, as well as the day before and the day after. And I have one more acupuncture appointment tomorrow on day 8. With moxibustion before the FET.

Added baby aspirin.

Watermelon, ginger, beet juice every day since the transfer! I drink about 16 ounces a day. I think it’s absolutely delicious, so I had no problem with it, but I know not everyone loves beets. The juice, the baby aspirin, and the acupuncture were the only new to things I did during this protocol.

Went to a 4 day musical emo music festival right before the transfer and spent a lot of time with my best friend and was way more relaxed going into this. Definitely not coming here to say that the solution to having a baby is to relax, because I know we’ve all heard that! But for me, I’m working on radical acceptance, and I started to think about what life might look like if this doesn’t work for us and decided that I would go to grad school if we don’t get a baby with our remaining embryos. That took some pressure off. Take what you will from that.

I also had a hysteroscopy, with a polyp remove removed.

21 day course of lupron down regulation. A hybrid approach that my doctor recommended because I don’t have diagnosed endometriosis, but she wanted to treat empirically.

14 day course of doxycycline for diagnosed endometritis. We did not do a test secure biopsy before proceeding to the transfer because of timing issues.

I also did an antihistamine protocol because I have an autoimmune disease. Prednisone, Claritin, Pepcid.

I spent the day of the transfer lounging on the couch with my best friend who is visiting from out of state, watching practical magic while my husband, Husband and her fiancé made us dinner!

This transfer probably worked because it was the right embryo, at the right time, in the right uterine environment, but all those things that I did might have helped in some immeasurable way.

Please wish me and little one luck! And best wishes to anyone reading this 🤍

Terrified to stop intralipid infusions

I was never tested for NK cells but my clinic pushed intralipids as an add-on. I finally agreed and ended up with my first positive (though several things changed this protocol). My clinic recommends continuing them until week 14. I feel torn about this. they’re $250 a week and i find them very uncomfortable, but I’m also terrified of not continuing them and something going wrong. Curious to hear from folks who used them, especially after recurrent implantation failure or loss.

PIO shots duration

Hi all! I've done a fully medicated FET and was told to continue my PIO shots until week 10 of pregnancy. I'm not sure how to read that. Does it mean I stop when I reach 10w0d, or do I continue through the whole week and stop at 10w6d / the start of 11w? Thank you! 💛

HCG rising only 85%

I wanted to ask if any anybody had examples where their rise was less than 100% and everything worked out? I had a beta of 660 on Monday and today (two days later) it came back at 1221. I did another post about my initial beta as I worried it was low, but now I am more concerned about the rise and would love to hear success stories of anyone who has been in the same boat.
