Discussion Hunter Exam Killau and Genthru are pretty much the same in terms of Morality

Post image
0 Upvotes

Genthru and Killua had the same moral from work.

Killed anyone/everyone just because they could

Didn't care about the inherent value in the lives other's

Sometimes derived pleasure from the act of killing

Only cared about the people they perceived as comrades

Yet people seem to hate Genthru for these reasons but spare Killua from the same criticism

Discussion Kurapika would've been way less misgendered if he was called Kurapiko

Pic isn't mine, dunno if official

Linguistics are fun

Also the lashes pointy corner didn't help, but fun character design. Maybe seeing him shirtless early on would've helped? Gimme shirtless Kurapiko

Discussion Do you think Shalnark could beat Hisoka with autopilot mode?

In my opinion, he does have a chance against him. We saw how he absolutely destroyed that Chimera Ant effortlessly with Auto-Pilot. So, I think he would stand a really good chance in a one-on-one fight.

Auto-pilot mode
Shalnark dead.

Discussion About Camilla and Benjamins interaction in chapter 416 Spoiler

Post image
18 Upvotes

I'm wondering, in this scenario couldn't have Camilla just jumped in front of the gunfire? That would count as murder on Benjamins part and then her cat would have spawned to kill him to revive her. Did she not jump in front of the gunfire on purpose because she wanted the curse to consume him and give him a painful death or did this thought just not cross her mind?

This was also a bit reckless on Benjamin's part it didn't seem like the thought would cross his mind either that she would just jump in front of the gunfire and then the entire operation would backfire for him.

Analysis/Theory Gon joins the phantom troupe

We see how interested Nobunaga is in having Gon join the troupe, and I can’t lie, it just makes sense. He’s young, impressionable, dangerously strong at just 12 years old, and most importantly, he’s morally grey. Had Chrollo actually had an answer for Gon when he confronted him about why the troupe kills people they have no problem with, we might have seen an arc where Gon and Killua travel with the troupe.

Analysis/Theory Did Komugi Unknowingly Make a Nen Contract?

Post image
105 Upvotes

This is a stretch since nen vows would only be made by characters who know nen like Gon and Kurapika who made vows against their lives to boost the power of their nen. Komugi already reflects after each game and memorises every move she ever made and that meditation she would’ve gone through mimics the process one would need to awaken their nen. She always had that vow that she’d take her own life if she ever lost a game but after awakening her nen it likely responded to that resolve she always had which enhanced her ability to come up with endless strategies beyond what she was originally capable of. She died undefeated but I’d say go as far to say that if she ever lost a game she’d instantly lose all will to live and she’d lose her life on the spot.

Discussion Hisoka hit Chrollo twice in Heaven's Arena, and it wasn't a fake Chrollo

I know this is already obvious to many people. But recently, I saw a post where most seemed to misunderstand this moment, thinking that Chrollo was never hit in images 1 and 2, and that Hisoka was actually hitting the same clone that appears in image 3. Because of this, I decided to make this post explaining how it's basically impossible that it wasn't Chrollo at that moment

At that time, Chrollo was using 3 Nen techniques: Sun and Moon (S.M), Fake Gallery (F.G), and Order Stamp (O.S)

S.M is a technique that works through post-mortem Nen, allowing Chrollo to use it even without a bookmark and with the book closed (He will only use the bookmark or the book page to activate the ability). Furthermore, we later discover that it synergizes with F.G, causing the created clones to not disappear in the same way as S.M if they are marked.

Due to the special properties of the S.M, Chrollo could use it and the F.G without inserting a bookmark or opening to the page. This meant he could use the O.S along with another Nen ability while two other abilities remained active

And that's the problem: for the clone theory to work, Chrollo would have to be using Convert Hands (C.H) and Black Voice (B.V) to create the clone. However, for that to work, he would have to use THREE abilities simultaneously (disregarding S.M and F.G), which is beyond Chrollo's capabilities

What actually happened was that after the escape, Chrollo deactivated O.S and activated B.V and C.H, which allowed him to create the clone

"Okay, but what if O.S remains the same as F.G when used with S.M?"

If that were the case, there would be no reason for Chrollo to have deactivated the O.S (Image 4) right after escaping from Hisoka. To tell the truth, nothing in the fight suggests that; in fact, we never see Chrollo use O.S, C.H, and B.V at the same time

Finally, I hope this has made it clearer why Chrollo was hit. Also, it's important to remember that I may have made mistakes or logical errors; any corrections are welcome.

Misc Final episode not on crunchyroll?

I thought 147 was the last episode as no others are available on crunchyroll. But at the end of the episode I saw a preview for 148. I've found the final on prime video but why does crunchyroll have all but the last episode?

Discussion Gido, Riehlvelt and Sadaso trio were really interesting

They were kinda strong themselves. They really didn't need to cheat.

I really liked their Toriyama-esque design and their short tragic backstory. Wish we could see more of them.

Discussion Kurapika vs Kalluto

Just curious what other people think ? I assumed that Togashi set this up as a possible split point between Gon + Killua and Kurapika in regards to her goal with the troupe. I also wonder if it means that Kurapika won't succeed and maybe becomes something post mortem ?

Anything is fun discussion I just was always interested at the decision for them to recruit Kalluto.

EDIT: Sorry misleading title I'm more so asking what is the story they are trying to tell with these 2 will Killua be cool with Kurapika killing his brother ??

Discussion Who are the most competent bodyguards from each prince?

Post image
82 Upvotes
  1. Benjamin - Furykov/Balsamilco. Difficult to choose between these two since you're either choosing Benjamin's right hand or a man who singlehandedly thwarted one of the queen's plot and allowed Benjamin to declare special martial law.

  2. Woble - It's obviously Kurapika. His strategy doesn't seem to be failing and has already secured alliances from other princes. The stalemate strategy he's cooked up poses the greatest threat to the power players actively vying for the throne.

  3. Kacho and Fugetsu - If Keeney was still alive, this would be closer. So, I automatically have Melody as the duo's best bodyguard. She made preparations for the duo's escape and is collaborating with Kaiser for another plot.

  4. Marayam - Bisky.

  5. Zhang Lei - I'm inclined to say Sakata.

  6. Tubeppa - Maor.

Who do you guys think are the most competent bodyguards from each of the prince's security detail? (Must be loyal to them)

Discussion If you were in Kurapikas position what would be your plan to navigate the succession war successfully? The idea with the nen class idea was great, what would be an effective alternative.

Post image
26 Upvotes

What would your plan be?

I couldn't come up with anything that seemed sensible enough, maybe tasking Bisky, Hanzo etc, to fake assassinations attempts on their respective princes using their nen abilities, to scare them and then trying to convince the princes that it would be in their best interest to ally with some princes (the ones that have one of my allies as their guards).

If they are discrete enough they could just blame the nen beasts for the "assassination attempts", obvious risk of course, benjamin guards who also know nen could catch on, or the convincing of princes just fails.

Analysis/Theory Halkenburg swapping places with Benjamin before Benjamin combines with nen beast. Spoiler

Im pretty new to the succession arc but saw a few theories on Benjamins nen beast ability that has him combining with it. What if Halk transfers consciousness before hand? Hell, what happens the the nen beasts when he swaps with a prince?

Analysis/Theory What would have Pitou done if she didn't get that call from Welfin? Spoiler

• Upvotes

If Pitou didn't think Komugi was safe, what the hell was she supposed to do and tell Gon in front of Kite's dead body?

Would she have taken responsability for Komugi's death and kill Gon or would she develop a new ability on the spot to try to fool Gon?

Analysis/Theory Power in HunterxHunter: Chicken or The Egg

Weird but it kind of tracks.

You see abilities on Greed Island that don’t seem to make sense by the logic of Nen that actually do, but only because of a logic Ging had in designing them.

Nen operates on a cost-reward system. You add a bunch of restrictions or costs to your Nen and then a proportional result seems to come out. Greed Island operates on a different style of the same concept, but it’s a Reward-Cost instead.

The Nen acts independently, and you receive the reward by paying its price, which comes in the form of quests. Same idea, but you now have something that you can use freely because a price was paid. You didn’t “pay” in a strict cost, but by making restrictions to reach the reward, you created something that is proportional to the difficulty. Once you finish the quest, the reward is yours to keep, and more convoluted or difficult quests yield better rewards by the game’s logic.

My theory is that The Dark Continent’s treasures exist because proportionally dangerous “quests” exist to reach them.

If the world operates according to the same logic, then the human world exists as a neutral zone where little is given because little is required.
