Anyone ever heard this high pitched frequency coming from their HomePod? I have mine set up in a stereo pair connected to my Apple TV and it’s only the left one that’s doing it. Seems to happen with or without audio playing. I thought it could be electrical interference from the outlet, but plugging it into another wall outlet didn’t seem to help either. Any ideas?

I have a HomePod mini that needs to be fixed or replaced. I have AppleCare on this device, and I'm curious: if they check it and decide to replace it, is there a chance they might give me a mini 2, or will they give me the original version?

I currently have a KEF XIO soundbar, and I’m wondering whether the newly announced Apple TV 4K would let me add two HomePod mini 2 speakers as dedicated rear surrounds only 👀

Would I be able to assign them specifically to the rear left and rear right channels, while keeping my soundbar for the front channels?

I have a first-generation HomePod mini, and I recently noticed that Siri’s light animation looks different.
Instead of the usual multicolored, swirling Siri animation, I’m now seeing a mostly white light with a blue tint when Siri is activated (see video).
Interestingly, the blue doesn’t look quite like the new Siri AI animation either. It seems a bit darker and more saturated. But the distinctive red color from the original Siri animation is definitely gone.
My HomePod mini is currently running OS 27.0, though I didn’t notice this change immediately after any particular update.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is this an intentional change, or could it be a bug?

Not that long ago I got 2nd HomePod (2nd Gen) and recently decided to move the HomePods around to the same room to try out Home Theater Audio functionality to use the HomePods as TV speakers. This is connected to Apple TV 4K (2nd gen).

I have few questions cause I am unsure if this is a proper behavior for the system.

- when HomePods Stereo pair is selected as the TV speakers output , SIRI on HomePods no longer responds to any voice . Is this normal?

- when performing a lip sync setup, is it normal that the test noises are emitted from the TV speakers, not the actual HomePods themselves? It seems odd to hear test noises from the TV built-in speaker for lip syncing HomePods.

This sub has a lot of negativity in the comments for the new homepod mini 2. I feel like this device will be a godsend to replace my Amazon echo dot. I cannot stand the Amazon Alexa ecosystem and their constant barrage of ads and continually asking to upgrade. I already pay for prime, I shouldn’t have to listen to it. Plus I don’t think my data is secure with them.

Even if it is a lateral move from their unit, I will be very happy.

As title says, I’ve noticed my HomePods blinking when my Apple TV is idle and not being used. This only happens when I set them on ARC to play TV audio.

They work normally and TV audio also works as it should. But why the blinking? Does anyone have any info on this? Is this an issue?

Should I keep it and buy and mini 2 or sell it???
Any other ideas?

Apple is finally taking ghost touch issues seriously.

You may soon be able to disable touch interactions on HomePod, according to iOS 27.2 beta 4 code.

No details on model support yet, but I expect it will support all 4 models; there were always internal settings to disable touch controls.

You’ll likely see the new light animation for rejecting touch events discovered last week.

My HomePod Mini Gen 1 is failing to reset itself and is stuck on this stage.
Everytime the three beeps come in, it goes back into this red mode. Without me touching it.
How do I troubleshoot this ?

Over the course of a few days/weeks, I measured the power consumption of the devices plugged into the power strip (an OLED TV, a PS5, 2 HomePods, and an Apple TV). That was a few weeks ago. It always showed 5 watts—all devices were in standby mode.

Now I’ve gotten a smart outlet, and it’s showing 17 watts. My power meter also reads 17 watts. After unplugging everything one by one, it really does seem that the additional 12 watts of consumption is coming from the two HomePods. The only thing I can think of is that I installed the update to iOS/tvOS 27. I didn’t change any settings. I couldn’t find any reports on whether this might be related. It’s just a guess.

Can anyone confirm this or check their own setup?

Because that kind of power consumption would mean, for example, that music is playing at medium volume—which it definitely isn’t.

Got my first HomePod Mini. Google search says to use the “AirPlay” function. But i cannot find it on my iPad.

I want to have the HomePod be the default speaker when I use the iPad. I was able to do this using an Amazon Dot with just a few clicks. Any advice? Thanks.

I can’t seem to find much information on this (appreciate it was only just announced) but has anyone seen anything about this or knows if it’s possible? I know you can airplay to other speakers etc but can I just place this in the middle of a pair of HomePods and simply use it as an interface without the speaker.

Big updates to the HomePod 2 product page this morning. The Siri examples now use Siri AI’s gradient style, and the refreshed glow matches Siri’s look on HomePod mini 2.

Apple already updated the HomePod 2 product page this morning with Siri AI styling and glow that matches Siri AI on the HomePod mini 2.
