Rumor HomePod (2nd generation) may support Siri AI, based on clues from its refreshed product page
Big updates to the HomePod 2 product page this morning. The Siri examples now use Siri AI’s gradient style, and the refreshed glow matches Siri’s look on HomePod mini 2.
May suggest support for Siri AI is coming.

I once asked mine to "Set my Cool White scene".
It said "Okay, changing the temperature to 32 degrees"
I looked at my thermostat, nothing. I asked it to set the Cool White scene again and it changed my lights correctly.Later my (now ex) messaged me that his thermostat was set to 32... Siri changed is thermostat... in a different house.

tbh, you sound annoyed, but this seems like a win…
“Siri, play spooky ghost sounds and doors slamming shut at my ex’s house.”

Asked siri on my iphone to run a shortcut (living lights off), asked me if i want to turn the device off. In a hurry, I said yes and it turned the phone off.

Gonna call it now - it will only support Siri AI by offloading requests to the latest gen Apple TV 4K.

All of the new "Hey Siri" phrases are doable without Siri AI. I don't see this as anything more than a glowup for the product page.

So S6, S7 and S8 can’t support Apple Intelligence on Apple Watch but on HomePod yes. It’s a shame that new hardware has an old chipset, s10 is basically an S9 chip and it doesn’t support local Apple Intelligence.

I agree
And this makes absolutely no sense in regards to the Apple Watch side of things because the series 9 and SE 3 could get watchOS 27 despite those chips not having support for Apple Intelligence
Someone make this make sense

I think the same processors would need to do more tasks on the other devices. For example, A8 chip on iPhone 6 became ancient history in terms of iOS support (up to iOS 12), but on the Apple TV HD and HomePod 1 it went up to tvOS26 and HomePod OS27 respectively.

homepods don’t do much, it can use close to all of the processing power on the cpu just for the siri ai stuff, it isn’t doing anything else with it. whereas a watch needs to do everything the watch was designed to do, and the silicon just can’t take that + whatever shenanigans they have siri ai doing. if there’s a justifiable reason that’s prolly it

That way iPhone’s below A17 cannot support Apple Intelligence but Apple TV 2022 and 2021 can support with A15 and A12X chips.

From beta 3’s help page of Apple Intelligence:
Use Apple Intelligence with Home cameras and notifications on iPhone
With Apple Intelligence in the Home app‚ you can automatically generate video descriptions for recorded clips from compatible Home cameras. You can then search your recordings using natural language, and related notifications are grouped together so you get fewer alerts.
Note: Requires a home hub such as HomePod (2nd generation), HomePod mini, or Apple TV 4K with the latest operating system software. The owner of the home must have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone* have Apple Intelligence enabled in the Home app, and subscribe to a 2TB iCloud+ plan.
Apple Intelligence on iOS 27 or later is available on an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone 15
Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 model or later. Apple Intelligence is not available in all languages or regions. Usage limits may apply*

so it will work on first gen mini?

This is just for processing descriptions of video feeds. Has nothing to do with Siri AI availability

I wouldn't think so based on the fact that the hardware in that is 6 years old
The release notes just say this and I think the confusion comes into play because of the fact that it doesn't show a generation indicator for the HomePod mini whereas it does for the full size one

Where have you seen this? I can only see that the HomePod 2nd gen will support Sound Glow, but not Siri AI.

u/RuddyRadish 2d ago
I'll be so happy if that's true! Where does it say this? Sounds plausible though, considering tbe change on the website and the inclusion of the Sound Glow feature as well!

I was also looking at this, it's incredibly strange that they would go and update the page for it if they're releasing another one soon and in addition, why would they put the same glow on it if it can't do it.
