Anybody use a day bed for everyday use? Recommendations on a decent one for an every day family sofa by day, and double bed at night? Preferably under £300… TIA

Anybody able to find a dupe to this bad boy?

i have searched high & low & can’t seem to find anything — it’s either similar in style but basically the same price OR it’s cheaper but not similar at all

it has been said i am a horrible “searcher” but was curious if anyone has any ideas bc i can’t fathom spending $300 plus a $30 handling fee

Hate this fixture - please give me direction so I don’t make another mistake!

I worked with a designer who talked me into this $$$$$ Made Goods fixture. After a few months, I loathe it. It looks medieval. It’s actually quite dramatic with beautiful detail but not right for the light and airy look I’m going for. What would you suggest? No MCM - even though my table and chairs are MCM, I’m mixing things up. 11” ceilings. Please don’t redecorate, my mind is jumbled enough 😵‍💫

I need major porch help (idk how to decorate)

Idk what to do with this screened-in area of my porch. I just moved in (so did lil orange man there), and so far all I have is the cheap chairs and wind chimes. I wanna make it catio-like so that my mandarinito can have stuff to climb and run around on, but I don’t even know where to start. The door has another storm/screen door, so unless I remove that, I don’t think a traditional cat door would work. I think the best bet would be to put something where the left window is so that he doesn’t have to make such a hop down to access the porch.

But that’s just one part of it. I wanna make the area cute, but idk what all to do other than add some string lights and a bench/loveseat type of thing. Are curtains on the outside acceptable? I hate how the right window looks and wanna do some kind of shutter/sham thing but I want it to feel more indoorsy than outdoorsy.

(Also, how quickly and how moldy would it get if I were to add some kind of tapestry thing to the ceiling—I’m worried about adding anything that could hold moisture since it gets really wet at dawn and dusk where I live)

Curtains - Panels in the Middle or Nah?

Thumbnail

We have an older house and some rooms have two windows next to each other. When hanging curtains, is it better to have panels in the middle or should we just keep them on the ends?

Also, with plaster walls, I’m not bothering with moving the rod to the ceiling. For my sanity, they’re mounted in the trim.

Just put this together table, red chairs, mirror. What do we think so far. When I ask ChatGPT it always comes out so soulless. Also a close up ow what the tabletop looks like.

Optimiser espace baignoire

Bonjour,

Quel type d'artisan pourrait faire ça ( plombier ? Plaquiste ?) ?

Merci

Why is framing photos so expensive?

I hope this isn't a dumb question but why do I feel like I need to sell an organ to get my wedding photo framed? I went to framing shop in my city and it was literally 4 times the price I expected. What gives??

Color Drenching Advice

Thumbnail

So, after being in the house for six years, husband and I have finally decided to do something with all it, and we're both in love with the idea of color drenching, starting with our entryway/living room/hallway. Our offices are where we have spent 99% of our awake time, so the rest of the house has been quite neglected when it comes to intent, and we're tired of it being that way.

We've tentatively decided on Black Evergreen from Behr - the website and the swatch show a more earthy green, but it has a hint of a jewel undertone once it is up. The last picture is an AI mockup of what we're generally going for (dark academic, gay man cave-ish), but I'm interested in advice/tips on how to approach the drenching and subsequent decorating.

From what I've gathered reading, the room's really high ceiling, tons of molding, and the windows giving it natural light all day are beneficial to color drenching, so while I'm feeling positive about that, worried there are other things I'm not getting from reading and TikTok.

Things of note/questions:

  • We're looking at sofas in the style shown.
  • I'm wanting floor-length curtains for the window, on ceiling tracks.
  • The TV is coming down and going on the wall opposite the sofa (so don't r/TVTooHigh me, pretty please).
  • Is doing the entry way/living room/hallway all the same color too much? I've seen videos of it and it looks good, but always see it in more contemporary homes without as much molding, etc.
  • Keep it natural colors for accents (creams and browns), or go with a contrasting color?
  • I know there aren't any pictures of it, but how do you incorporate drenching with a pretty open kitchen (currently all white) and make it feel natural/flow well?

Would love any suggestions, do's/don't's, comments, concerns, what-have-you.

Kitchen Appliances Color - please vote!

We're about to start replacing kitchen appliances in our 1800 sf rental home (1950s cape cod), starting with the stove/range. I think white appliances would suit this kitchen style much more than stainless steel but my partner is adamant about steel. What do you think? Millennials and younger opinions especially welcome!

If the stove were white and mismatched w/ the rest would that be a deal breaker? Help appreciated!

2 rooms are adjacent to each other (great room) I bought both the rugs, the dining chairs, and the couches. tables can change and so can the light. What would you recommend to better tie the rooms together? I don't have to use black, but the room is feeling a little light overall. Any other ideas?

Blacklisted from Pottery Barn

I recently placed three orders online for furniture for Pottery Barn (long story, combo of not deciding all at once what I wanted, sense of urgency created by "last few" marketing on sale items, and some floating/shifting alleged backorder dates). I spoke to them about delivery after I placed the third order, and they that when the first order says "ready to deliver" I could hold off until all the items in all the orders reach that status, and then schedule them all as one delivery. Then, once they were all delivered, I could call back and get 2/3 of the delivery fees refunded - since I only had furniture delivered once, seems fair that I should only have to pay for this service once.

All went according to plan until I called for the refunds. They told me they couldn't do it, I said you clearly said you could, it should be there in the file notes, etc. The person put me on hold to talk to her supervisor and came back to tell me she could refund 1 delivery fee only (so: pay for delivery three times - get delivery once, get one refunded, they keep one for doing jack shit). Absolutely no reason was given for this - it pretty much seemed like an arbitrary offer to get me to drop the request - like, oh good enough, one out of two, guess I'll hang up now. Companies can get away with treating you however they want these days with zero consequences.

This company charged me three times for the same service they gave me once, then refused to honor the refund they had promised! I did a credit card chargeback and got it. About a month later, I get an email from Pottery Barn saying that I can't buy anything from them until I pay them (as in, call them up and give them my cc#, totally separate transaction) for the amount I had charged back!

Guys, this company is so hell bent on treating you like shit they are willing to act against their own interests. They are literally so petty that they are willing to say "nope, we won't allow you to ever spend thousands here again unless you pay us for the thing we lied about." THINK TWICE before you buy from them!!!

Edit: the fee(s) in question was for delivery, not shipping, and was a flat rate - if I had placed one order for all five items under the same order #, I would have paid one delivery fee. So what I was asking (and what they offered, then went back on) was that, since they were treating my order as a single order on a single delivery, that they price it according to how a single delivery for a single order would have been priced.

Stuck on living room layout

Moving very soon and I cannot figure out which living room configuration I like more. I used AI to insert my living room furniture into my new living room.

I’m used to having the couch on the right wall when walking in, so it feels more natural. It also allows for the green accent chair to be there and create a nook, whereas with the couch on the left side, the green accent chair would need to be in the opposite corner, so as to not block the patio door.

Visually, I’m undecided. Pls help!

We're struggling to find something to go with the grayish cabinets. Also, for added complexity, I *really* want to keep that Andy Warhol cow print -- so if something could complement that, we'd love to know!

I have 2 of these antique heavily ornate (metal and glass) hand made tapestries (other is elephants). approx. 22x22in each. add to a shadow box frame or stitch to throw pillows...
