Welcome to this week's Question thread. This thread has replaced the regular Tuesday Noob Questions thread. We encourage you to as all your questions here, as this will help us cut down on the number of repetitive posts we get on the front page! This thread is linked with the #questions channel on our Discord so that any time someone posts a new comment in here, it will be reviewed and replied to quickly! If you felt like you had a question but didn't want to bother people with it, now's your chance.
As always, we also have a discord for hoggit over at http://discord.gg/hoggit which you can use for chatting with other members of the hoggit community. And don't forget to check out our wiki at http://wiki.hoggitworld.com
Hoggit Training Server runs a training MP mission that runs 24/7 that's focuses on training up the newer folks (just like this weekly thread). Every DCS module is available in this mission, and there are numerous ranges to test your skills at. There are frequently knowledgeable folks around to answer any questions you might have, or show you how to do what it is you're looking to learn. Anyone can join, even if you've never stepped foot in a MP session before.
If you're interested in teaching/instructing at hoggit, please poke squinkys on Discord!
Server is be named Hoggit - Training Map. The password is hoggit1fw. SRS will be available at tnn.hoggitworld.com (it should autoconnect, but if not, use that). Come in, have a good time, learn a few things and teach a few things.
The only rule is Do not teamkill, unless the other party is a willing combatant...ie: you can dogfight if you find a partner...just don't shoot down some random A-10 trying to learn how to land.

Goofy title but have you got any tips for making the most of the map and time period with the aircraft and ground units available? I only play single player because MP makes me nervous lol.
I want to create missions that resemble an accurate initial Fulda rush. I.e. the opening moments and later bits.
I want mission variety too.
Official: Apache, F-4, F-16, A-10s, FC3, Harrier
Mods: OH-6 (as light scout), F-104, Su-22
I really like the idea of flying the OH-6 (as a stand in for early kiowa or gazelle) and directing helis and air strikes - is this possible?
Is it possible for an AI heli to do this for me if I'm flying a CAS mission in A-10A or F-4?
Finally, any good sources for actual Soviet plans? I'm interested in exact routes, echelon sizes etc. Something more realistic than 7 days to the Rhine for example.
I don't need someone to do it for me but some pushes in the right direction would be appreciated :)
At some point I'd like to try irl tactics with a real human but I'm not there yet

Grateful for B(U) release this year, that was most exciting for me. the SIT Mod for F15E was a surprise.
appreciating the updates to existing aircraft
Sorry for our loss of the great WAGS
Two and a half months left...
Would like to hear news of HeatBlur A6E module. news of dynamic campaign would be nice.
Whats left to look forward to this year other than the 2027 video...lol

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share AIR COMBAT LEGENDS, a single-player Cold War combat flight game I’m working on.
It’s inspired by older PC sims like U.S. Navy Fighters, F-29 Retaliator and F-16 Combat Pilot.
I’m not trying to make a full study sim. The goal is something more accessible, but still with enough depth that aircraft choice, mission planning and what happens in the larger war actually matter.
The main focus is the dynamic campaign.
There are no fixed mission chains. Poland is the battlefield, and the player decides how to approach the war.
For example, you can:
You also manage pilots, and losses are permanent, so sending an experienced pilot or a valuable aircraft on a risky mission has consequences.
The current aircraft lineup includes the F-14, F-16, F/A-18, F-4, F-117, Tornado and SR-71, with more to come.
What I’m trying to capture is that old-school combat flight sim feeling where you could get into the action fairly quickly, but still feel like every sortie was part of a much bigger war.
I’d be really interested to hear what people here think about that approach.

Happy to answer any questions.

I'm MRGO's developer. MRGO addresses finding a physical keyboard, button box or panel while flying in VR.
This 60-second feature overview shows full passthrough, hand-tracked passthrough and configurable gesture-to-key bindings, including the DCS view-reset and salute examples in the UI.
It requires an external USB camera recognized by the PC and supports SteamVR and OpenXR; it does not access the headset's built-in cameras. MRGO is a paid product available on Steam.
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpwrwDn29Hk
I'd like to hear which physical cockpit controls are hardest to locate in VR and answer setup questions.

Hey folks!
Just wanted to let you know that whilst waiting for the Cold War Map expansion to the Canadian bases at Baden Soellingen and Lahr, I've been working on some Cold War period CF-18 Liveries.
Now, there are a lot here. 7 squadrons, 3 liveries for each, options for nose serials or not, plus a special 409 bird, plus 3 other unmarked ones.
I've shared textures and linked them in the description.lua, so the file size is reduced. I've also structured it in a way that you can remove skins that you don't want/require, too.
These will be included with my CF-18 campaign that I'm working on. It's not 2 weeks, more like... maybe early next year? I am desperately waiting for Ugra's expansion to the Cold War map... If the previews are anything to go by, maybe it's soon to happen. Once that happens, things will start to happen quickly.
I've learned a lot about livery making in the process... My hat is off to the very talented folks that have posted skins to the user files. It's a lot, lot, lot of work!
You can download both parts and extract into your Saved Games/DCS folder.
And I'd like to hear any feedback you might have, too!

I've owned quite a few modules throughout the years (F/A-18C, F-16C, A-10C II, KA-50) and most of them have some additional paid campaign separate from the module itself.
I've tried out few of the campaigns attached to a free and cheap modules like Su-25T and FC3 planes but they're a bit of a glorified tutorial for me, I wonder if the paid standalone ones are a jump in quality and such and if its worth my money.
Is there any good friendly to new-players communities? im from the EU. I would like to learn the
A-4CE i already with the A-4 guide did the start up myself while ago and watched few videos but i would like to do training with somebody like navigation waypoints.

As an example, I use the Free Flight Instant mission for the viper, and I set the ils kutaisi frequency, press ENTR, then I press the M button the EHSI to get to the PLS NAV page, then I set the magnetic heading for the runway and press ENTR (can also be set using course knob on EHSI). And at some distance close to kutaisi runway, the CMD STRG text is supposed to get highlighted, meaning the viper ils radio has picked up the ils beacon signal. But that never happens and the ILS needles never move. What do I need to do differently. Any help will be appreciated.

Now thats its 2026 just a polite request for less jaggy polygons in DCS cockpits and external models moving forwards please. I can't speak for everyone but if a model has a poor finish that poor eyecandy can make the difference between a purchase or not. Yes its superficial but we all like our eyecandy. Now that we are entering a Golden Age of photo-realistic laser scanned photogrammetric modules and walkarounds, these details are going to be important moving forwards. Not naming names as lets face it, historically developers needed to reduce polygon counts, moving forwards lets keep the standard high, cheers.

Just got my AB6 set up with my VPC Flanker, and was whipping the Gaz around. When I trim it (instant trim enabled) it tends to move pretty sporadically.
Is this a settings issue, DCS or Moza? Or just the fact that the Gaz is on life support.

I was very stupid and didn't know I was showing my "Integrated Graphics" instead of my ACTUAL Graphic Cards, also, It may say 16gb of Ram right now but there's a slot for another and I'll add that in later.

Figured I would share this since the Jeff doesn't get as much love.

Some tried to argue the F-18c would have good chances against a Su-57 because its turn rate? I’m new but, there’s no way that’d be the deciding factor right?
