🛡️ Mod Post IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: If you receive ANY unsolicited/creepy DMs

Whether you’re a poster or a commenter, if you have received unsolicited, creepy, or down right disgusting DMs please feel free to message Mod Mail or message me directly. As posted in multiple places in the subreddit, unsolicited or inappropriate DMs of any kind are not allowed and will result in a permanent ban. You may also be reported directly to Reddit Admins. If the person on the receiving end of this kind of harassment is a minor, you will be reported to relevant authorities (FBI Tip Line, Center for Missing and Exploited Children, etc) and it WILL be taken seriously.

As a subreddit, we have ZERO tolerance for this behavior and will do everything in our power to combat it. Unfortunately we have seen an influx of users who seem to only frequent porn subs, and our sub.

Please don’t think “oh this message isn’t that bad, I’m overreacting, etc”. Reporting posts, comments, and DMs helps out everyone in the long run. Not reporting causes these creeps to keep messaging people so nipping it in the bud can help out others💕

🛡️ Mod Post Reminder: Unsolicited DMs are NOT allowed.

We’ve seen an increase in unsolicited DMs being sent to members of this subreddit. Let this serve as a clear reminder:
Sending unprompted private messages is against the rules. Doing so will result in a permanent ban.

If you receive a DM like this, report it to the mod team immediately.

This subreddit exists as a safe, inclusive space for sharing experiences, asking questions, and giving feedback about hair dye and color treatments. If someone genuinely wants to follow up based on your helpful advice or a shared interest, they will say so publicly.

We shouldn't have to say this, but lurking in beauty-related or appearance-focused subs to harass and prey on people is disgusting and absolutely not tolerated. Any messages of an obscene or harassing nature will be reported to Reddit Admins and could result in a permanent ban from the site as a whole (for your current account, any other current accounts, or subsequent accounts made in the future).

❓ Advice Needed Clueless on how I get the hair I want

Hello! I don’t really do much to my hair and I’m in need of some advice as I’ve been wanting to switch it up.

I dyed my hair a copper colour using L’Oréal hi color around 2 years ago, and have been growing it out since. I want to do a peekaboo and I’m thinking of doing a red colour (4th picture is inspiration). My issue is that my ends still have some of that ginger in it and I bought the Colorfix colour remover a long time ago, it has an assembly date of December 2024 but I can’t find an expiration date so I’m not sure if it’s still okay to use on my ends, I’ve never opened the bottles before though.

I have dark brown hair and I’d prefer not to lighten it. I’m not completely against bleaching it but I want to avoid damaging it as much as I can so I’m looking for any dyes that work well on darker hair and I know reds can work better for dark hair. I have an unopened bottle of strawberry leopard hair dye in euphoric pink and thought of possibly mixing it with a red strawberry leopard dye, but I don’t know if that would work well.

I just need advice overall as I’m really not sure what steps I should take to achieve what I want, I’d appreciate any help I can get and am open to any suggestions or questions!

My hair dye is fading (last photo is it fading, second to last is what it was before) and I’m debating what I should do with it now. Sometimes I look at my natural hair and think that color is best on me but then I realize I want to be colorful so… any suggestions for my hair next?

I want to dye my hair like a dark cherry cola, dark chocolate cherry. I’m not sure what it’s exactly called but I want to use box dye and not sure what one to get. I don’t want it like super red just a hint and i still want the dark brown hair if that makes sense

The first pic is my hair colour right now. The other two are my inspo, something i’m looking for

❓ Advice Needed Black Hair, Possible Developer Allergy -- Any Ideas?

• Upvotes

I've never dyed my hair before, but I wanted to so I went out and got the Ion Permanent Hair Dye Creme and their Sensitive Scalp 20V developer, and the patch test itched a little so I immediately washed it off. Is this normal? I googled it and said even a slight itch is an allergy. So. My hair is black so not even henna or demi-permanent dyes will do much. What can I do?

BTW I'm pretty sure it's a developer allergy since I did patch test the L'Oreal Casting Creme once and it was kinda itchy then too. Didn't dye my hair that time though since I accidentally mixed the whole box for the one patch test and I didn't feel like going out to get another box.

❓ Advice Needed how to stop hair dye from staining neck

hey everybody!
I had just dyed my hair green using arctic fox this last sunday (I didn’t use bleach. just put it on my natural brunette hair) and i’m still having trouble with the dye staining my neck and clothing.
I followed the instructions as directed when I originally dyed it.
is this something I can fix? or is this just inevitable?? I haven’t dyed my hair since 2019 I have forgotten how to care for my color.
please help :)
(idk if it’s important but I have wavy/textured hair)
edit to add: my two favorite sweaters are also stained. how can I get it out??? one is a light tan color and one is black

❓ Advice Needed Fix hot roots (and everything tbh)

Basically yesterday I was sad and I ended up dyeing my hair back to my usual red, but I ended up with dark ends and absurdly bright red roots…
My mum told me to go buy a darker red dye to even it out with the rest of my hair, but I don’t know what to do. My friends are telling me to bleach my ends but I feel like that is going to fry my hair.

❓ Advice Needed Ask for a fix?

Hi all

I just got my hair dyed to pink.

My last few visits were lightening it with blonde highlights but I decided to get a full pink.

And now that I've looked at it a bit, I noticed a ton of blonde stands and a missed spot at the roots.

If anyone has gone from blonde highlights to a vibrant color, could this be just how the dye held to different shades of blonde? Ooor does it looks like it was missed?? My roots are super pink but bottom part is multi colored. (Very obvious when wearing a ponytail.)

I did get it bleached and it was suppose to be a full dye of hair.

This is my first time with a stylist and im freaking out about messaging them asking to fix because I dont think I can handle being charged more.

Also I was going for pastel pink but was fine with going darker because it'll fade with wash. So long as its not hot pink.... is this not hot pink? 😫

Hi guys! I’m bleaching my hair at home and I’ve split the top into three sections, and i’ve bleached the sides but I haven’t done the top. Wondering how I can go about it? Should I put it in foils or do an open air application and just put it back? Do i start from the front or the back? Thanks in advance!

❓ Advice Needed Hair Dye - Light Copper

Thumbnail

Hi all! A few weeks ago I already asked about some hair glosses. I loved the copper hue it gave, it washed out and now I’m ready to go the next step and dye my hair!

I am naturally a medium dishwater blonde (as this picture was taken in the sun it seems a bit brighter). I’ve grown out all hair dye. I really love the blonde copper look in the inspo picture and the reflection in the sunlight.

My friend recommended the Schwarzkopf IGORA Vibrance shades, she dyes her hair red with them frequently. Stupidly I ordered the 7-57 and 7-77 with the vol. 6 developer, because I thought “ah it’s labelled as medium blonde, that’s me” but it seems quite brown in all other swatches…

Does anyone have advice for what I other IGORA Vibrance shades I could change it to so I can get as close to the inspo as possible without bleaching?

Lesson learned already, won’t buy before consulting again, so please don’t be mean🫡

❓ Advice Needed bleach over faded splat

hi yall,
i’ve been dying my hair pink with splat midnight magenta for a few months now, i’ve died it three times since june because it keeps fading really quickly. ideally, i would
bleach my hair and get it fully pink again, but im worried about damage. it’s very faded, and my hairs comparison of initial results to now after a month or so are shown. any advice? if it’s too risky to bleach i’m planning on a cool toned brown because my skin is cool toned/has pink undertones.
i had highlights that was starting to grow out before i had the pink, so my roots are very clearly brown and i dislike the color difference.
thanks!

❓ Advice Needed Color advice!

I went to a new hairdresser today who specializes in fashion color. I asked for a vibrant reddish orange (will include the inspo picture i showed her at the end).

I ended up with a kind of patchy neon pink.

I've dyed my hair at home many times before, I was wondering if applying some orange or red manic panic hair dye would work ? Should I wait until it's more faded or could I go and dye my hair tomorrow ?

The dye she used is semi-permanent. Thanks in advance !
