Didn't expect to beat it on literally first try LOL, and before people asking yes I use the unseen arcana because I don't like the idea of having to rely on finding a mana gain boons in a run like this (specifically for the first area), especially with the umbral flames where mana is the main DPS source.

The reason Hades is a good villain is because HE IS ALWAYS UPSET AT ME FOR PETTING THE BEST BOY!

I feel like he would, but I also feel like he has all his friends and family in the underworld so he wouldn’t. I would say he would visit but at some point in the story he says he feels out of place.

I am on my first playthrough (haven't reached true ending yet) and trying to finish open quests on fated list. One of them was to defeat the final boss with all aspects. Aspect of Hel was my last one and for some reason it was really annoying for me - had lost with it multiple times, before this gem of a build came forth.
Even had hitless phase 1 and 2 Chronos (never had that before), but he got me multiple times in phase 3.
p.s. phase 2 Chronos died to 4 omega attacks

I just beat hades 1 and still have to unlock other weapons along with side quest and raising affinity.
But I love Zagreus as a character he was such a cool guy. I kinda want to just jump straight into playing hades 2. I played a bit and I feel like I go from playing a warrior to a mage lol 😂

I, like many others, am trying to get the epilogue and he’s all I have left. But no matter where I look I can’t seem to find an answer on if he can appear in chaos trials. Rather than surface run after surface run I’d rather just run a quick trial to try and force his appearance sooner if I can. Helped me progress the Dora and Prometheus prophecy faster doing trials as well.

Recently, I started playing Hades, and this is my first real experience with the roguelike/roguelite genre. And honestly, I'm loving the game. The gameplay is extremely satisfying, the animations are beautiful, the combat is fast-paced, and the attacks feel incredibly satisfying to pull off. I could spend a long time praising this game.
However, there's one thing that's discouraging me: I feel like I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Hahaha.
I'm a complete beginner when it comes to this genre. I don't really understand how builds work, which upgrades I should prioritize, or how to make the most of special attacks. Basically, I just pick whatever seems interesting and hope for the best. And that makes me worry: will I eventually reach a point where I simply can't progress because I don't know how to make proper builds? Will I need to spend hours watching videos and reading guides to learn the best combinations?
Another thing that's been bothering me is dying. I die A LOT. Sometimes to strong enemies, other times to enemies that seem pretty easy. There are moments when I'm so focused on attacking that I don't even notice where the damage is coming from. By the time I realize it, most of my health is already gone.
For context, I've beaten Cuphead, so I'm not necessarily someone who gives up on difficult games. I spent hours stuck on certain bosses, died countless times, learned their patterns, and eventually managed to beat them all. But in Cuphead, I could simply retry the same fight until I learned it. In Hades, I feel like I have to go through an entire run again, with different abilities and combinations every time.
I'd love to hear your opinions, especially from those who have gone through this beginner phase:
Is it normal to start Hades without understanding almost anything about builds?
Can you beat the game by picking boons somewhat randomly, or does understanding how different abilities work together eventually become necessary?
Did you learn naturally through playing and dying, or did you need to look up guides?
How do you deal with the frustration of losing a run after making a lot of progress?
I'd love to hear about your experiences. And please, no story spoilers!

Finally got around to playing Hades 1. Got my first clear and while I know there's more clears to really finish the story I just don't care about the story. I just can't. Zagreus' VA just kinda ruined it for me. Absolutely insufferable voice acting from most of the cast like him and Thanatos leaves me not wanting to experience much more of the game. I'm already skipping all dialogue of his as it is. I don't find a ton of enjoyment in fighting the same enemies and bosses I've already beaten dozens of times with weapons and aspects I've already experienced multiple times over.
Is Hades 2 any better in terms of VA, at least for the main character, and replayability? I.e. some variation in bosses etc.
