Escape the Underworld as Melinoë in Zagreus' Journey, the Hades II DLC you'll never get.
It's finally time, I've just released Zagreus' Journey 1.0 - thank you to everyone who's played the mod while it was in beta, and for all of the positive reception and feedback I've gotten here and on Discord in the past!
Watch the 1.0 Release Trailer for the mod here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxuTLSPqIEE
The mod has also been officially endorsed by Supergiant Games!
Download the mod here (install instructions are in the description): Zagreus' Journey on Thunderstore
TL;DR: Download r2modman (Manual Download), install it, then find "Zagreus' Journey" on the "Online" tab.
Zagreus' Journey is a mod for Hades II that adds the original route Zagreus took through Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium and the Temple of Styx in the first game to the sequel.
Escape the Underworld as Melinoë, battle familiar foes and bosses using her unique abilities and weapons, meet Zagreus' old friends, and reconnect with your family's past - all integrated into the main game as if it was always there: Naturally progress through the new biomes, unlock new incantations to perform, reveal and complete new Minor Prophecies, forge bonds with NPCs in familiar and new locations, collect over 30 new resources to spend on new cosmetics and music, and test your skills with new Testaments, Chaos Trials and in Dream Dives.
Here's a list of highlighted mod features:
I want to thank everyone who's used the mod while it was still in beta, and especially those of you who've left bug reports and feedback on Discord and GitHub.
I also want to acknowledge that I know some of you had issues with mods (and Zagreus' Journey in particular) causing issues after Supergiant released Post-Launch Patch 2 - without going into details, the patch was much larger and substantial than we anticipated in the community, which could cause crashes for some people even with mods seemingly disabled.
But I'm happy to share that we've since updated a lot of the tools that we use, and now mods will be entirely separate from your install, meaning that no matter what, you will always be able to play vanilla Hades II without issues, and without needing to disable or manually uninstall anything.
And to also pre-empt some other potential questions:

I feel like he would, but I also feel like he has all his friends and family in the underworld so he wouldn’t. I would say he would visit but at some point in the story he says he feels out of place.

His shit is the easiest to avoid. Who do y’all typically choose to anger?

Didn't expect to beat it on literally first try LOL, and before people asking yes I use the unseen arcana because I don't like the idea of having to rely on finding a mana gain boons in a run like this (specifically for the first area), especially with the umbral flames where mana is the main DPS source.

I am on my first playthrough (haven't reached true ending yet) and trying to finish open quests on fated list. One of them was to defeat the final boss with all aspects. Aspect of Hel was my last one and for some reason it was really annoying for me - had lost with it multiple times, before this gem of a build came forth.
Even had hitless phase 1 and 2 Chronos (never had that before), but he got me multiple times in phase 3.
p.s. phase 2 Chronos died to 4 omega attacks

The reason Hades is a good villain is because HE IS ALWAYS UPSET AT ME FOR PETTING THE BEST BOY!

I just beat hades 1 and still have to unlock other weapons along with side quest and raising affinity.
But I love Zagreus as a character he was such a cool guy. I kinda want to just jump straight into playing hades 2. I played a bit and I feel like I go from playing a warrior to a mage lol 😂

When Artemis is singing, you can have Melinoe come up and join in seamlessly. I was wondering if anyone familiar with game design could give me an ELI5 explanation of how this is accomplished. I have a vague idea that there are two song tracks, one with Melinoe and one without, but having them start playing at exactly the right moment can't be simple to do technically. Anyone know how it works?

Hey there,
Hades I and II got my interest in terms of story but I'm not sure if gameplay is for me. Can you tell me how story works given the style of game and if it is ,,friendly" to someone with not much skill/patience as I?
Thank you and sorry for my english

I, like many others, am trying to get the epilogue and he’s all I have left. But no matter where I look I can’t seem to find an answer on if he can appear in chaos trials. Rather than surface run after surface run I’d rather just run a quick trial to try and force his appearance sooner if I can. Helped me progress the Dora and Prometheus prophecy faster doing trials as well.

I’m begging you, I’m enjoying this game so much, but some textures and elements look so bad when playing on docked. Whenever I kill one of the floor bosses they explode into pixelated meshes, the menu and the bosses intros (especially the hydra) look so blurry.
Handheld boost mode sort of fixes this when playing in handheld but there’s no way to fix this when docked. Hades II probably plays wonderfully (haven’t tried it yet) so please take a page out of Teamcherry and release an updated version for your older game, you probably already have the 4k textures and I’m not sure about this, but the engine is probably the same as Hades II so potentially hopefully 120fps would also be possible??..
Love the game! Super fun, this is the one and only issue I have with it and I want to believe that it’s easily fixable.

Finally got around to playing Hades 1. Got my first clear and while I know there's more clears to really finish the story I just don't care about the story. I just can't. Zagreus' VA just kinda ruined it for me. Absolutely insufferable voice acting from most of the cast like him and Thanatos leaves me not wanting to experience much more of the game. I'm already skipping all dialogue of his as it is. I don't find a ton of enjoyment in fighting the same enemies and bosses I've already beaten dozens of times with weapons and aspects I've already experienced multiple times over.
Is Hades 2 any better in terms of VA, at least for the main character, and replayability? I.e. some variation in bosses etc.

Recently, I started playing Hades, and this is my first real experience with the roguelike/roguelite genre. And honestly, I'm loving the game. The gameplay is extremely satisfying, the animations are beautiful, the combat is fast-paced, and the attacks feel incredibly satisfying to pull off. I could spend a long time praising this game.
However, there's one thing that's discouraging me: I feel like I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Hahaha.
I'm a complete beginner when it comes to this genre. I don't really understand how builds work, which upgrades I should prioritize, or how to make the most of special attacks. Basically, I just pick whatever seems interesting and hope for the best. And that makes me worry: will I eventually reach a point where I simply can't progress because I don't know how to make proper builds? Will I need to spend hours watching videos and reading guides to learn the best combinations?
Another thing that's been bothering me is dying. I die A LOT. Sometimes to strong enemies, other times to enemies that seem pretty easy. There are moments when I'm so focused on attacking that I don't even notice where the damage is coming from. By the time I realize it, most of my health is already gone.
For context, I've beaten Cuphead, so I'm not necessarily someone who gives up on difficult games. I spent hours stuck on certain bosses, died countless times, learned their patterns, and eventually managed to beat them all. But in Cuphead, I could simply retry the same fight until I learned it. In Hades, I feel like I have to go through an entire run again, with different abilities and combinations every time.
I'd love to hear your opinions, especially from those who have gone through this beginner phase:
Is it normal to start Hades without understanding almost anything about builds?
Can you beat the game by picking boons somewhat randomly, or does understanding how different abilities work together eventually become necessary?
Did you learn naturally through playing and dying, or did you need to look up guides?
How do you deal with the frustration of losing a run after making a lot of progress?
I'd love to hear about your experiences. And please, no story spoilers!

I still haven't managed to beat Dad after 18 hours of trying; I just played a "one-shot" Magnetic Cutter build—Athena, Chaos, and Ares boons, all focused on damage. I managed to kill him, but then his health bar refilled completely. What’s your favorite build for breezing through the game? P.S. I had to pay the merchant 1,200 gold for Titan Blood; it really annoys me that I can't play with my favorite weapon, since Titan Blood is so hard to get.

Just finally came across cursed slash for the first time and man that felt far from cursed. Granted I happened to have the old spiked collar equipped so had the advantage going in, but healing really makes a difference. Obviously the smart build from that point was to grab a Centaur heart every time it came up. Felt basically invulnerable the majority of the run, thought I was finally gonna make it through but sadly still got stopped by the stupid champions of Elysium. What other abilities feel like a game changer to you?
