is apple pushing iOS27 update by force? I noticed sending high quality videos on iOS 27 between androids are much clearer

Howdy everyone, potentially weird issue here. Certain emojis aren't displaying properly? I texted myself and they show up fine in the preview but the actual message itself? Shows these boxes. I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+.

Additionally the RCS chat functionality in general seems to be weird. It says it's connected and that I'm RCS chatting, but the color is off. Usually the chat bubbles are a dark blue, and in my messages, despite it saying RCS, show up as the SMS light blue. Any fixes? It seems like RCS might be a little busted at the moment, scrolling through the subreddit. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, toggling RCS on and off, restarting my phone, toggling show as simple messages on and off, everything I could think of.

It is simply unbelievable that they don' t have keyword filtering on the app. I cannot block the barrage of political garbage that is sending the same message from a different phone number every time!

When I delete conversations or messages they typically go to the Trash but for a few conversations if I delete a messages it disappears entirely, anyone else have this happen?

Aside from swiping down for several hours, I mean. Is there actually a way to do this? Crazy there isn't a scrollbar in Android's top SMS app.

There's something else strange going on as well with the same contact. When I open the messages from this one contact, it always opens to a portion of the thread from October 2nd, 2026. Always the same spot and I have to click on the hovering notice that says 2 new messages.

It will scroll down to the new message I received. When i back out and go to the messages list, it still shows 1 unread message just for this same contact. This notification will only go away if I send a message to this same contact. But the process starts over when a new message is received from this contact.

I've left the beta program and went back to the standard app. Tried clearing the cache. Tried force stopping the app. Tried marking all messages read. Tried making this not the default app. I've sent feedback. Left a review on the beta version before switching back.

I don't understand this. I have maybe 100 text threads and there are no other issues. For the life of me I cannot get this to go away. I'm at my wits end and not sure what else to try.

How do you delete old images shared in google messenger? Even after deleting a conversation i can still see old images shared when looking at the contacts information.

So due to issues with professionalism among other things I need to print out a message thread that goes back 5-6 years. The only way I have found to do it is copy and paste. I am hoping there is another way so it includes dates etc

Had an update this morning and first thing I noticed was this color is now different or also the one that shows the other person is typing. Its a brighter blue color that's not easy on my eyes :/ any way to change this color? Ive tried notification settings, google message settings, ive tried going to dark mode, themes. Nothing seems to change that specific color.

I upgraded to a Pixel 11 Pro yesterday from a Pixel 9. On my Pixel 9, most of my RCS chats were E2EE, including most iPhone users. However, ever since upgrading, none of my chats are E2EE. RCS seems to be working otherwise, but I have lost encryption. Anyone else experiencing the same issue or has anyone found a solution? I'm with T-Mobile in case that's relevant. Thanks!

Update: I called Google support, and it sounds like the issue may stem from not disabling RCS on my old phone before transferring eSIM to new phone and doing a factory reset in preparation for trade-in. They referred me to an online Google page where they can remotely disable RCS for phones you no longer have access to. They said to disable RCS on my new phone as well for 24 hours. I'll see if that works and report back. In the meantime, I'd love to hear if anyone has seen success through that process.

Update 2: After resetting RCS on my old phone through Google's web app and waiting 24 hours, the problem is still there. I will continue working with Google, but I'm not holding my breath. Will update here if I find anything that works.

I have been eagerly awaiting the implementation of end-to-end encryption between Android and iPhone devices. Upon checking my friend's phone, I noticed that the end-to-end encryption toggle is enabled on his device; however, we are still unable to receive end-to-end encrypted messages from each other.

Could you kindly advise on the possible reasons for this issue and, if possible, provide guidance on how we can achieve end-to-end encryption between our devices?

I'm having an issue I'm trying to diagnose that involves rcs. Background: stock pixel 10 pro running the latest versions of everything from the play store. Activated on Google Fi, as are other pixel users I reference below.

I can't get e2ee rcs with any iPhone users, at all. Each of them has the setting turned on, and even has e2ee rcs with other pixel users that are mutual contacts. I seem to be the odd one out.

I discovered I had the carrier services app disabled, so I reenabled it, but..... Still nothing. What's weird though is the play store entry seemingly allowed me to fully uninstall it, so I did, and that also didn't seem to change anything about my rcs situation. I downloaded it again, which predictably did nothing.

I've tried clearing the data for Google messages, carrier services, and even deleting my SIM and reactivating it. Nothing has changed the state of my rcs messages with iPhone users. Given that it's all my iPhone contacts, even new ones, I'm the only common denominator.

Is carrier services even part of the equation anymore? Has anyone had any luck getting e2ee working with iPhones? Is it still rolling out? I've hounded several iPhone people into making sure they're updated...

I got a new phone yesterday and everything was working totally fine until this morning. All of a sudden, the messages app won't open and it just keeps giving me notifications that it's "doing work in the background." I've tried getting people to message me but none of them go through. I've tried updating the app, did multiple software updates on my phone, restarted my phone, and force stopping the app but nothing works. Has anyone else had this problem? is there a way to fix it?

My Pixel 7 died and I am trying to restore my rcs/mms/sms messages on my other phone (Pixel 9, Android 17) from a Google One backup. I have a different phone number now but from what I read that should not matter for restoring. The backup still shows under other devices as "Google Pixel 7 · 4 days ago" with SMS & MMS messages: 3 GB so I know the images are in the backup.

- Texts and call history restored fine

- Every MMS/RCS picture shows "restoring" and never downloads

- Left it overnight on Wi-Fi and charging but no change

I tried this a few times and even tried the Android Switch app manually on my new phone but nothing seems to restore the images. I'm losing my mind here and have lost a lot of faith in Google One and the backups so any help is appreciated.

For the love of me I CAN NOT get these names of Lorenzo and Jessica under "conversation" removed. I dont even know how they were added here. But it seems I have to individually change the settings for each person now. It's annoying since I have tried removing them from conversation, when under "default settings" selecting them and unselecting them does nothing, I can't remove them at all. Any help please!!!

I’m using Google Messages for Web to access SMS messages from my dad’s Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6.
Some messages display normally, but certain messages (which i need the most, and contain a link) show the warning “For your security – View this message on your phone.”

i know this is a thing but on his actual phone, these messages sometimes show a “Tap to load preview” button. If he taps it, the message then becomes visible on my Google Messages for Web session. If he doesn’t, I only see the security warning.
I’ve already enabled “Show all previews” in Automatic previews settings, but it hasn’t fixed the issue.
Why does tapping “Load preview” on the phone remove the security restriction on the web version? Is there a way to make these previews load automatically so the messages become accessible on the web without anyone having to tap them manually?
Has anyone experienced this or found a solution?

I had a bad conversation and turned my phone off halfway through because I realized something. I have read receipts on, but I don't want to mark any new messages as read when I open my phone again. I left google messages open when I turned my phone off. Is there any way to open my phone without seeing the messages? I have an android.
