Brand new to golf

So I have only “played” golf a couple times. By playing golf, I mean going to a golf range and getting drunk with friends. I have never watched a video, had lessons. I just try and copy whoever is next to me that day. My shit feels very wonky and weird. I can get it to go straight and far(for me). However I’d like to know what I could focus on, so I can improve.

My 3 wood goes 260yds with a perfect little baby fade. My driver averages around 265 and hooks and slices all over the place. Help me keep my driver out of jail please

Included two clips, one of my 3 wood and one of my driver. 3 wood here went just about 260. Driver went about 255 with a ballooning slice. What am I doing wrong with my driver or what am I doing right with my 3 wood?

3 wood is a callaway rogue max d with a regular shaft that I bought used.
Driver is a callaway rogue max d with a stiff shaft that I was fit into about 3-4 years ago.

This only started recently, I had a back injury about 6 weeks ago and took about 3 weeks to recover. Ever since, my driver has become the worst club in my bag.

Thoughts/Opinions/Suggestions

G'day everyone,

Long story short I've been a once/twice a month player, very casual for about 12 months with some guys from my previous job.

In the last three months moved to a place with much better weather (was in Tasmania, lovely place, horrible weather). Since moving have come up to a once/twice a week player if I can fit it in.

I have not had lessons but have been working on my swing and spending time in the Sim, sometimes one, sometimes three hours a week since July.

This is where I am up to. Any suggestions?

Is it worth getting lessons or just keep grinding my swing and working with what I have?

This is my 6 iron but more or less everything looks fairly similar across the bag, obviously the driver is quite different, but I'm carrying it around 250/260m average and hitting fairways maybe 80% of the time 🤣.

Drill was a soccer ball between my knees, shift the weight right so it drops out before you swing. 8 iron I think, slowed down 2x.

Before and after working with my clients sway and getting the face more shut. He went from a slice to a draw in 2 short lessons. If you are a golfer that is frustrated with your swing I would be happy to help out. I do over 100 lessons a month and have many successful online clients.

50 yards to green thick rough

You're 50 yards from the green, flat surface, ground is a bit moist and the ball is down in thick rough but not buried in the earth.

What club are you using?

My short game does also suck which is part of the reason why I’m at this handicap and I’m working on improving it.

But recently I’ve really been struggling with heel/hosel contact. Tried standing further than I usually do but it seems like my body will subconsciously compensate for that and still strike with the heel/hosel of the club. Any tips?

Don’t overload your mind with swing thoughts

Find ONE thing you need to improve in your technique.

Focus that one thing in practice then forget about it on the course. Train it, trust it.

It’s important to work on technique in practice, but equally important to practice without technical thoughts.

It’s also quite important to identify what that one technical focus should be. A good coach can help with that (perhaps you can be your own good coach!).

You can’t go from swinging like a 20 handicap to swinging like a professional in one day. You have to build it one piece at a time. Hopefully you can identify that most important piece.

New Swing After Substantial Weight Loss

I’ve lost more than 80 lbs in the last year, and I’m having trouble getting through my left side and finishing where I’d like in my follow-through. It feels like it’s all arms post impact. Also trying to focus on staying more upright at address and still getting used to taking a fuller turn in the back swing while being able to generate more speed. Basically, my swing feels like a mess right now. Any advice on finishing rotation after impact and getting my hands more around my head?

Driver swing first video, 5 iron swing second video

High handicapper here and just started working on the swing this past spring. Its a bit late but I’m finally getting my first lesson in a couple of days.

I’m thinking of starting to work on my iron swings since i generally pull them all (and top most of the time) but im curious as to which one to focus on first. I’ve always known “start small then move up” so I’m leaning toward getting my started with the irons.

Check out both of my swings and let me know what you think!
