Georgian College General Education..Anyone take Positive Psychology or Criminology?

I'm trying to decide which elective to take. My options aren't great in my opinion. I am interested in these two but would love some feedback on each.

I'm doing pre health and aiming for very high grades so I don't want to screw myself with a heavy course.

How difficult did you find them? How heavy was the course load? Any teachers that were brutal? What did assignments and tests look like (videos, essays, short answer tests or multiple choice etc)? Any other insights would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Georgian College Pre Health for Advanced Diplomas...Question about Elective

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm going to college for the first time as a mature student. I'm doing Georgians pre health program starting in January. I got myself excited about the electives because I really wanted to take Abnormal Psychology. In my Georgian account I clicked on View Recommended Courses for Term and its not listed there...is it possible to still do it or does this mean it's not offered in my program at all? This is what was shown. Positive Psychology was my backup but I think I'd absolutely thrive in Abnormal Psych.

Pre Health for Advanced Diplomas

Hi everyone!

I'm starting Georgians pre health program and hoping to go into ultrasound. I'm pretty nervous because I know ultrasound programs are extremely competitive. I'd want probably mid 90s average to be considered. How difficult did you find this program? I'm a mature student and still need to work on top of it. I have a pretty flexible job in a restaurant. I'm nervous about keeping up and actually getting the grades I need. Has anyone else gone into ultrasound, whether through this program or otherwise? What was your average?

Any insights you can offer would be extremely appreciated!! Thank you!

RPN Students at Georgian — What should I review before 2nd Year, 3rd Semester? 📚❤️

Hello everyone!

I’m an RPN student at Georgian College going into 2nd year, 3rd semester in December. My school gave us a freaking 4 month break 😭 and honestly at this point it’s driving me crazy because I feel like I’m forgetting everything.

I really want to use this time to get a grip on the upcoming semester instead of walking into class feeling completely lost 😂

For anyone who has already completed this semester (especially Georgian students) could you please guide me on what topics I should review from my Fundamentals of Nursing textbook to be better prepared and hopefully score well?

If there are any specific fundamentals, skills, concepts, conditions, medications or nursing topics you wish you had reviewed beforehand, I would really appreciate your recommendations!

Also, if anyone is willing to share study guides, notes, old resources or PDFs of relevant textbooks/materials that you’re allowed to share. I would be extremely grateful. ❤️

Thank you so much in advance! I really appreciate any advice. 🙏

Georgian College PN Graduates – How Long Did the CNO/REx-PN Process Take?

Hi! I’m graduating from the Practical Nursing program at Georgian College on August 27, 2027.
For anyone who graduated from Georgian, how long did it take to become eligible to book the REx-PN after finishing the program? And after passing, how long did it take to get registered with CNO?

I’m hoping to write the REx-PN sometime in September. Is that realistic?

Thanks!

Barrie Gym, Personal training

I’m interested in getting into the gym since its already included in our tuition but I don’t know when or where to start. I’m thinking of getting the personal training package but idk if it’s worth it.

I honestly just wanna get it shape and get some muscles maybe.

Has anyone in here tried the personal training package for barrie campus? If so how was your experience? Was it worth paying for? Or should I just stick to yt videos or smth

Looking for Electrical Engineering students

Hey guys. I am working on establishing a FSAE team for Georgian College. FSAE is a student-run Formula racing team where we develop, build, and race an open wheel race car and we need some electrical engineering students to join the team! Please reach out to me if you are interested!

If anyone has any other skills they think might contribute to the team, please reach out! Only prerequisite is that you are a current Georgian student!

Quick question about Practical Nursing (PNRS) schedule + student experiences!

Hey everyone!

I'm planning to start the Practical Nursing program in January 2027 and I'm just trying to map out my life/finances ahead of time.

I was looking at an old intake sheet and it looks like the program runs completely straight through for 5 consecutive semesters with absolutely no summer breaks off (meaning graduating in Summer 2028). Can anyone currently in the program confirm if it's still structured this way?

Also, if any current or recent students are browsing, I would love to hear your honest, casual thoughts on the program!

  • How is the workload?
  • Are the clinical placements tough to travel to?
  • Any tips for a future student?

Thank youuu x!

Dental Hygiene Sem 2 kits

Are there any current year 2 DH students or recent graduates open to answering some questions about our Sem 2 kits and expenses? Specifically what is included/required in the kit. I bought 1st semester supplies from a friend, who gave me a few extra items and I'd like to understand better what I have and what I need :)

Also interested in Sem 2 textbooks.

Is $18K OSAP enough for school + living expenses?

Hey everyone, I’m starting Georgian College’s Automotive Business Co-op (AUBU) in January 2027 and I’m trying to figure out if my OSAP will be enough for the year.
I’m expecting around $18,000 in OSAP total.
I’m looking at renting a room for around $750/month all-inclusive, but I would ideally only stay there during my study terms and move back home during co-op/work terms.
My rough expenses are:
Tuition + mandatory fees: ~$4,574
Rent during study terms: ~$750/month
Food/groceries: ~$300/month
Transportation: ~$100/month
Phone: ~$50/month
Personal/school expenses: ~$100–150/month
For anyone who has gone through college with OSAP:
Is $18,000 enough for this situation?
How much should I realistically budget for food and transportation?
Does OSAP usually leave enough for living expenses after tuition is paid?
Is it a good idea to only rent during study terms and move home during co-op?
How much money should I try to keep as an emergency fund?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with OSAP and living away from home while attending college.

Georgian is a money pit.

I used to love Georgian last year. I actually would recommend it to people. Now this year, only into week 3, I completely change my mind. The amount of money that this school sucks from you is absurd. You’re forced to buy textbooks for $99.00 for only a year of DIGITAL access. In my program, I’m forced to then proceed to purchase a simulated “real world experience” Internship that’s $130 BEFORE tax, and if I don’t purchase this, I basically fail because the entire semester uses this. And THEN, in ANOTHER course, I’m forced to buy a personality test of $37 and write a summary about myself with the results. Oh and then you need to purchase a subscription on Adobe that’s $25 a month for a year (and you can’t cancel until the year is up) but if you already paid for it using the student discount last year, you have to actually pay $45 a month for a year!

I’m actually flabbergasted. This entire semester in my program is “pay to pass”.
