Practical nursing final placement

Is there different options for the kind of placement practical nursing students have in their fifth semester? is it is all in one sector? Example- Only in Long Term Care Homes?

Just don’t expect a complex hospital placement like ER, L&D, ICU. It’ll be med/surge likely

Currently doing my praxis and can confirm there were a few ER opportunities.

It depends entirely on what agencies offer spots each semester and also how many students request certain areas in the survey.

Absolutely they can, with my local area I know there are veryyyy limited spots for the complex opportunities and usually they get granted to high academic students. If you go in with the expectation your going to get a complex praxis like ER you’ll likely be disappointed if you end up in med surge. Never said it was impossible. Just not as likely, especially with needing those complex areas for bachelors students as those programs are also in Georgian now :)

The school may only have the book version of nursing fundamental but you can buy a hard copy

You can choose hospitals, LTC, community nursing and if available, hospice.

You have to select 4 LTC options and then the rest can be community or acute care. There have also been some spots in public health.
The options vary each semester depending on what agencies want to offer spots and also what kind of spots students request during the survey. Students are also ranked by final program GPA. Unfortunately we were told lower GPA may result in having to do LTC.
