Orillia Soldiers Memorial hospital started layoffs yesterday of nursing but is sure to see other services disrupted. Starting in dialysis … massive lay offs.
Not sure of how many staff or services to be cut throughout
By the way it was a “gratitude day” for hospital employees last week

Just a little bit of healthcare news. Soldiers started laying off nurses today starting with Dialysis. Not sure how many yet, but I am sure that the new CEO will have a statement to let us all know if this is the only part of the hospital effected or if there is more to come.

It's such a shame. Something needs to be done.

Odd question but does anyone on Monarch Drive or Annalysse have a parking space available in their driveway that they would rent out. Student at Lakehead and need parking as I understand street parking is not permitted Nov 15 to April and parking is not an option where I would be. Or any options that I am not aware of for parking in the area?

Hi everyone! I’m running the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon on October 18 and am looking for a way to get to downtown Toronto early that morning.
I’m based in Barrie, so I thought I’d ask here in case anyone from Orillia is heading to Toronto for work, the marathon, or another reason and might be able to offer a ride.
If you’re driving south and could pick me up in Barrie, or if there’s a convenient pickup point along your route, I’d be happy to contribute toward gas and parking.

Ring lost on the evening of September 29, 2026. Highly likely it was lost in the parking lot of SportChek Orillia (Or maybe inside the store or at the Orillia Recreation Centre). I heard something drop as I was getting out of the car that evening, but it was very faint. I looked around and didn’t see anything, so I carried on with what I was doing, not realizing until after that was maybe where I dropped my wedding band. Very sentimental for obvious reasons. Cash reward.

Hi guys, i’m sadly in need to rehome a kitten next month, he is 4 months old right now and will be getting his shots very soon. he isn’t neutered as of yet. he really is the sweetest and most adorable kitten ever. he’s fairly energetic and would do well in a home with lots of love to give! i’m really upset i cannot keep him but his love deserves to be shared with someone who would love him the same.
