Release Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is out now

This is the first Castlevania game in a decade, and the first 2D mainline game since 2008 with Order of Ecclesia. I hope old and new fans alike enjoy the return of this legendary series and I hope it’s just the beginning of more to come.

What a wonderful night to have a curse. A Belmont’s Curse, that is!

Impression Thread CONTROL Resonant has been out for about three weeks, what are your thoughts? Spoiler

• Upvotes

(And the physical console release is today.)

Played it over the past few weeks, finished it in about 40 hours. I did all the side quests, except for the randomly generated "kill X hiss" type quests, and also didn't find all the instant photos.

Overall I think it's a really good game, definitely one of my top games this year. I had concerns about the open world structure and the combat system, but both were solid, if a bit conventional.

Traversal with double jumps, dashes and flying is really fun, especially after getting the gravity-related abilities. I think the last two areas (The Underpass and Unknown) were a highlight, because they are literally impossible to navigate without making full use of all the abilities. At times the game feels more like a platformer than a character action / hack & slash action game, which I like.

While combat is surprisingly good - especially considering this is Remedy's first melee-focused game - I think the RPG mechanics left a bit to be desired. The game doesn't make it clear enough that any weapon / combo upgrade buffs your overall power level, and that you NEED to upgrade irrelevant weapons to keep up with rising enemy health pools. While personally I didn't have a problem with this, I believe many of the more lukewarm / negative reviews that mentioned grindy combat were partially caused by reviewers not understanding this.

One thing about the RPG mechanics that did bother me was how progression is balanced. A large chunk - maybe the final 20% - of the skill tree are related to the Command ability, which is unlocked very late in the game. I reached that area of the skill tree maybe halfway through my playtime, and since I did almost all the side content I had a plethora of ability points, and nowhere relevant to put them. I finally unlocked Command like 45 minutes before end credits, and the final boss was my first and last time using it. Didn't ruin the game but left me with the overall impression that they should have had way more mid game upgrades and had just 3-4 Command-related ones.

Story was good, if missing a bit of the trademark Sam Lake weirdness (who wasn't involved with the game in an official capacity). Compared to Control 1 and Alan Wake 2, there was less mystery and weirdness, and more focus on pure spectacle (though there are many unexplained mysteries as well). Somewhat paradoxically the game is physically the largest game Remedy has ever made, but the story is the most personal they've ever done, maybe with the exception of Max Payne 2. Relatable characters and beautiful moments, with themes of trauma, abuse and acceptance.

Graphically it's gorgeous, though not universally. Level design and effects offered some things I've never seen in a video game before, but characters and especially facial animation were markedly worse than the main characters of Alan Wake 2. I guess it's to be expected, given it's largely an open world game with less control over lighting and framing.

On PC I didn't have many critical issues, except for a couple of crashes on launch day. Performance was acceptable with a mix of low to high raytracing settings, using DLSS at the Balanced setting and 2x framegen with the RTX 4080 Super on my 32:9 1440p monitor with no notable artifacts or other issues. This is a raytracing showcase; RT reflections and shadows are especially noticeable.

What were your thoughts?

GamePitt - Rob Pitt - 9.5 / 10

Toy Story 3: Complete Edition is a very nostalgic trip down memory lane, with enhanced visuals and performance on modern platforms. Whether you’re playing through the eight well-designed and exciting story missions, or simply addicted to unlocking everything there is to do within the massive Toy Box mode, you’ll find yourself perpetually smiling throughout at the charm, humour, and quirky interactions you’ll encounter. Some aspects should have been modernised to make the process of collecting everything easier to manage, but if you’re looking for the authentic nostalgic experience with a new coat of paint, then Digital Eclipse have perfectly delivered exactly what they set out to do.

Lords Of Gaming - Daniel Amoroso - 9 / 10

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition evokes warm, nostalgic memories from the moment you switch it on, and that never really lets up. Whether you're navigating a moving train as Woody, helping toy soldiers in the basement of Andy's house parachute to safety as Jessie, or flying through outer space as Buzz, you'll consistently be having a great time. The game will appeal to a wide demographic, from youngsters discovering it for the first time to young adults eager to revisit their childhood sixteen years after the original. Throw Woody's Roundup into the mix, which provides the type of sandbox open-world gameplay that never really outstays its welcome, and you have a winning formula. While less of a remaster and more of a port, it's hard not to recommend it thanks to the low price, as well as the overall package remaining as strong now as it was in 2010.

Cat with Monocle - Seth Hay - 4.25 / 5

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition brings a classic adventure back from the attic with improved visuals, smoother gameplay, and all previously separated content in one package. It’s a trip down memory lane for returning players and a fun new adventure for first-timers. However, a few hiccups still need tweaking before this toy chest is truly complete.

Pizza Fria - Leandro Felippe de Paiva Gomes - Portuguese - 8.5 / 10

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is everything that fans of the classic loved in the original game, but with some improvements that make the experience even better. The preservation of all the original content, combined with visual enhancements and greater fluidity, makes an already memorable adventure even more enjoyable.

ProjectN - Juan Alves - Portuguese - 85%

Toy Story 3: Complete Edition restores one of the greatest classics of licensed games with the shine it deserves on the Nintendo Switch. Although it features dated movement and camera mechanics as well as a short campaign, the game makes up for it with an excellent cooperative mode, the inclusion of Brazilian Portuguese voice acting, and the immense freedom of Toy Box Mode. It is highly recommended for both children and nostalgic fans of the franchise.

República DG - Gabriel Petricevich - Portuguese - 8.1 / 10

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition preserves the original 2012 experience, banking on nostalgia while delivering enhanced visuals and a stable 60 FPS, ensuring a smoother and more visually appealing gameplay experience.

Hinsusta - Pascal Kaap - German - 8 / 10

Toy Story 3: Complete Edition shows why the original game still enjoys a strong reputation among movie adaptations. The campaign captures the charm of the source material, the different abilities of Woody, Buzz, and Jessie provide variety in gameplay, and the Toy Box mode offers a motivating sandbox playground that goes far beyond a typical movie adaptation.

KonsoliFIN - Petri Kataja - Finnish - 4 / 5

A lively mix of light platforming and open‑ended Toy Box tinkering returns in a cleaner, smoother package. Ideal for younger players and nostalgic adults alike.

Manual dos Games - Gustavo Bouças - Portuguese - 8 / 10

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition proves that the 2010 game still has plenty to offer beyond nostalgia. The campaign remains lighthearted and fun, while Toy Box continues to be the main highlight, offering freedom, missions, and customization options that have aged surprisingly well. On PS5, the sharp image quality, solid performance, and inclusion of Portuguese-language menus and voice acting make this the most complete and accessible way to revisit the adventure. The game's age shows in some of its animations and simpler design elements, but that isn't enough to overshadow just how well it still holds up.

Netto’s Game Room - Benjamin Bell - 4 / 5

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is a fun reminder of what it means to be a kid again. With its fresh coat of paint, signature Toy Box mode, and countless ways to play, it is a game that is perfect for the whole family.

Gert Lush Gaming - Jim Smale - 7.6 / 10

Despite some rough performance drops and dated menu features, the sheer amount of fun packed into the Toy Box mode makes this an easy recommendation.

PSX Brasil - Isabella Alves - Portuguese - 75 / 100

Toy Story 3: Complete Edition is a pleasant surprise that recaptures the golden age of movie-based games. Although the Story Mode is short and suffers from some unevenness in level pacing and control precision, the title truly shines in the rich Toy Box Mode, offering sandbox-style freedom packed with activities and customization options. Ultimately, the Complete Edition establishes itself as the definitive version of an absolute classic-an excellent recommendation for children and a nostalgic journey for longtime fans.

Completexbox - 70%

I’m all for film franchises cashing in on their fame. However, they rarely offer much detail and feel like a bit of a cash cow. This was how I felt about the 2010 Toy Story 3 game. Roll on 16 years, and I’m tackling Toy Story 3: Complete Edition on Xbox. This is a remaster of the original, so many of the improvements can be seen in the visuals, controls, and performance measures. Accordingly, if you disliked the original, I can’t see your opinion changing too much.

Atari has published this 3D adventure title. It is a single-player game that has close connections to the 3rd film. It is filled with many of the beloved characters, and players can explore the core locations. This is great if you adore the franchise, but not so exciting if you dislike it. Either way, it is colourful, fun, and full of small but interesting stages.

SECTOR.sk - Matúš Štrba - Slovak - 7 / 10

Toy Story 3: Complete Edition remains a charming and surprisingly enjoyable licensed game. Its simple but well-designed gameplay, extensive Toy Box mode and local co-op make it a great choice for playing with kids, while the Czech voice acting is a welcome bonus. The short campaign, dated visuals and occasional camera and control issues show the game's age, and Digital Eclipse could have modernized it more extensively. Still, the original's charm and creativity remain intact.

SmashPad - Andrew Farrell - 3.5 / 5

I think Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is worth experiencing even for first-time players as long as they don’t set their expectations too high. It’s a very cute game, though it feels a bit light and has some less-than-stellar story missions. I just wish Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue had gotten an actual remaster too, since it also deserved it.

Impression Thread Order of the Sinking Star has been out for a week, what are your thoughts?

• Upvotes

I just got credits at ~240 puzzles done, which is I think ~20% of the content in the game. So far I think I can comfortably call this the best sokoban game I’ve ever played.

The thing I really love about it is that it’s not that hard. Every level is based on a single clear mechanical idea or interaction, and once you understand what it is it’s usually very easy to execute. And since they’re mashing up four completely different games there are so many interactions for them to explore. Plus, unlike something like Can of Wormholes or Steven’s Sausage Roll which demonstrates new mechanics later in the game by directly forcing you into them (not a criticism per se, I love the moments in those games where they show you some wacky new mechanic) almost all of the interactions in Sinking Star follow directly and logically from the base mechanics— they all feel like you could have easily predicted how they work, even if you didn’t. Also because of this I think it’s way more accessible than many of the titans of the genre, though of course that’s a bit difficult for me to assess given all of my experience. Highly, highly recommended!

EntreMandos - Spanish - 8.5 / 10

This is an essential remastered collection for any fan of action, platform, or racing games, as it brings together a wide variety of titles set in the world of Pixar toys. Plus, if you're a fan of the franchise, you'll obviously love it even more.

Lords Of Gaming - Robert Kellett - 8.5 / 10

Revisiting these childhood adventures was a wonderful experience, and it highlights how great movie tie-in games can be enjoyable experiences. While retro collections of iconic franchises are always welcome, the movie game tie-in games should be preserved too.

With its wealth of quality fun for the whole family across a wide range of game genres, deep quality-of-life features to make each game an inviting experience, and a history section filled with amazing game development insight for those wanting to learn more about each title, Toy Story Retro Roundup is easily one of Digital Eclipse's best retro collections on the market.

SmashPad - Chris Penwell - 4.25 / 5

The Toy Story Retro Roundup is a fantastic collection for Disney and retro platforming fans. This was my first time playing Toy Story 2, and while it has a few kinks, like unpredictable movement, it is still a gripping game that had me playing from start to finish in almost one sitting. This is why game preservation matters: we can enjoy past experiences for the first time, relive them, and help future developers learn from gaming history.

ProjectN - Juan Alves - Portuguese - 83%

Disney/Pixar Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is far more than a simple nostalgic collection; it is an exemplary project of video game preservation. By bringing together classics that defined the 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit eras, the package celebrates the creative ingenuity of developers who adapted these iconic universes across both home consoles and handhelds. While certain game mechanics and camera issues naturally reflect the era in which they were created, the modern quality-of-life enhancements—combined with a rich museum archive of behind-the-scenes footage, artwork, and mini-documentaries—turn this collection into a true interactive exhibition. Offered at an accessible price point, it is an essential pick-up for nostalgic fans, retro-gaming enthusiasts, and a new generation of players alike.

Cat with Monocle - Seth Hay - 4 / 5

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is a purrfect nostalgia trip, bringing classic Pixar games together with helpful quality-of-life features, bonus content, and a unique “How to Play” mode. While the dated mechanics can be frustrating, it’s still a wonderful collection for fans who grew up with these titles.

Cinelinx - Dustin Spino - 8 / 10

Whether you want to satisfy a nostalgic craving or introduce a new generation of gamers to these classics, the Toy Story collection hits the mark. It delivers incredible value for your money and is well worth picking up.

KonsoliFIN - Petri Kataja - Finnish - 4 / 5

A varied mix of 90s movie tie‑ins becomes far more appealing thanks to excellent extras, smart quality‑of‑life features and Digital Eclipse’s polished presentation. Even if not every game shines, the collection as a whole offers a warm, nostalgic and surprisingly generous trip back to the toy box.

Netto’s Game Room - Benjamin Bell - 4 / 5

Toy Story: Retro Roundup is a great collection of the Toy Story and A Bug's Life titles that defined many of our childhoods, as well as a perfect introduction for a new generation. While some games included are a bit hit-or-miss, others are all-time classics and are just as fun as many of us remember!

PSX Brasil - Paulo Roberto Montanaro - Portuguese - 80 / 100

In its careful historical preservation and attention to detail, Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is flawless. However, this unwavering fidelity to the past carries the weight of decades: without adjustments to soften the impact of the years and relying only on a few external tricks to overcome its limitations, both outdated mechanics and visuals may frustrate those seeking even a minimal contemporary experience. This will certainly test the player's patience.

Pizza Fria - Leandro Felippe de Paiva Gomes - Portuguese - 8 / 10

It is precisely this feeling of nostalgia, coupled with the possibility of discovering or rediscovering these experiences, that makes the collection worthwhile. Not all the games have aged well, it's true, but that doesn't diminish their importance to the franchise's history and to the memories of so many fans.

Manual dos Games - Gustavo Bouças - Portuguese - 7.8 / 10

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is a collection designed for those who want to revisit an important era of Pixar games without losing sight of what these titles originally were. The excellent presentation, various display modes, and features such as Rewind make revisiting these games much more comfortable on PS5, while the historical bonus content highlights the care taken with game preservation. Not all the games have aged equally well, and the lack of Portuguese-language support in the original titles may discourage younger players. Still, for fans of Toy Story and classic video games, this is a thoughtfully curated trip down memory lane.

República DG - Gabriel Petricevich - Portuguese - 7.8 / 10

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! delivers a nostalgic experience, especially for fans of the PlayStation 1 era. However, it falls short by missing the opportunity to offer a more ambitious remaster, with improvements to gameplay mechanics and new features that could have made the experience even more impactful and memorable.

Gert Lush Gaming - Jim Smale - 7 / 10

If you have a soft spot for 90s licensed games or want an easy trip down memory lane, Toy Story Retro Roundup is a fantastic retro package that is well worth picking up.

Hinsusta - Pascal Kaap - German - 7 / 10

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is a lovingly curated collection that stands out above all for its excellent presentation and extensive extras. Digital Eclipse has preserved six games from the period between 1995 and 2001 and made them more accessible to a modern audience with features like a rewind function, save slots, cheat codes, and a practice mode.

Push Square - John Hansen - 7 / 10

Toy Story: Retro Roundup is filled with tons of great modern-day features and extras that make it a great choice for anyone who played these games in the past and wants a burst of nostalgia.

TechRaptor - William Worrall - 7 / 10

While there are some games in the pack that don't have much to offer, the good stuff is really good. A must-own for any fans of Disney-Pixar 3D platformers.

SECTOR.sk - Matúš Štrba - Slovak - 6 / 10

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! offers a decent selection of classic Toy Story games across multiple platforms, enhanced with useful modern features and interesting documentary content. However, the incomplete lineup, limited archival material and awkward menu structure are disappointing for a collection from Digital Eclipse, especially given the studio's previous standards.

The Punished Backlog - Clint Morrison, Jr. - 6 / 10

Toy Story: Retro RoundUp! is no longer for me; I’m okay with that. But these games — with their clunky platforming and vintage graphics — are also no longer for the children growing up on Toy Story today, with Mario Kart World and LEGO Star Wars a button press away. Retro children’s games are difficult for me to judge, as they were meant to be colorful and simple years ago, but as a result, they don’t feel fun for me and likely not for my nephews who are used to glossier graphics and more interesting gameplay. Having multiple versions of the same game included in the collection is nice for record-keeping, but not a very fun experience as a player.

Completexbox - 55%

I’ve looked at the remaster of the 2010 Toy Story 3 game, so I thought I’d give Disney/Pixar Toy Story: Retro Roundup! a go as well. This title feels more dated with its rougher textures and familiar artwork. Furthermore, there is a sense of authenticity thanks to the clunky controls, sharp colours, and simple ideas.

Atari has pieced together this collaboration of 90s and early 2000s games. It is a single-player and local multiplayer title that incorporates 6 unique titles and 11 different versions combined. It’ll appeal to retro lovers and those who wish to experience a bygone era. If you only play modern games, this will not be the title for you.

Game Title: Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2

Trailer:

Review Aggregator:

OpenCritic - 84 average - 76% recommended - 21 reviews

Critic Reviews

Analog Stick Gaming - Jeff M Young - 7.5 / 10

Boltgun 2 doesn't have anything in the way of a compelling story, or even anything to define its aesthetically pleasing protagonists. However, smart quality of life choices and those lifted from later versions of the original Boltgun do make for a more directed and refined sequel. With strong enemy variety and far more engaging environments, Boltgun is shaping up to be a fantastic addition to the Warhammer 40K universe. I just wish I cared about the characters, even a little bit.

But Why Tho? - Tomas Franzese - 9 / 10

Warhammer 40000: Boltgun 2 is a genre-defining boomer shooter. Excellent level design, sound design, and crunchy combat ensure Boltgun 2 is nearly as good as the classics that inspired it.

CGMagazine - Marcus Kenneth - 8 / 10

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 finds a great mix to please longtime W40K players and newcomers, although veterans will find themselves leaving with a lot more enjoyment.

COGconnected - Mark Steighner - 82 / 100

It remains a highly effective homage to classic boomer shooters and Warhammer 40,000.

DayOne - Jesse Norris - 7.5 / 10

Warhammer 40K: Boltgun 2 is a solid sequel to a flawed original. It fixes my main issue, with smartly designed levels that help you feel like a proper badass.

DualShockers - Laurence Wall - 8.5 / 10

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 delivers fast-paced, exhilarating action that’ll get your heart pumping and your feet stomping.

GAMES.CH - Fabrice Henz - German - 82%

"Boltgun 2" also offers more variety in almost every aspect.

GameBlast - Thiago da Silva - Portuguese - 7 / 10

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is a competent and safe sequel that expands on its core pillars, delivering more robust gameplay—now featuring two distinct heroes to boost replayability—and stunning pixel-art environments across various distinct biomes. However, certain gameplay mechanics, such as the weapon-switching system, could use further refinement. While the plot isn't the main focus, it could have benefited from a bit more care; nevertheless, this does not overshadow the quality of this well-executed boomer shooter.

Gameffine - Jay Krishnan - 90 / 100

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is a textbook example of a good sequel. It builds on what made the original work while addressing its shortcomings, delivering satisfying gunplay, fluid movement, a well-balanced difficulty curve, and a diverse range of environments. The addition of a second playable character, the Dragonfruit on top, adds another welcome layer of variety to an already excellent BoomShoot.

Gameliner - Bram Noteboom - Dutch - 3.5 / 5

Are you looking for simply more Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun so you can continue to serve the Emperor? Then Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 won’t disappoint. Still, Boltgun 2 doesn’t always do enough to be considered a full-fledged sequel.

Gamer Social Club - Fraser Billington - 9.5 / 10

Auroch Digital has yet again done the universe of Warhammer 40,000 justice. Boltgun 2 is a fantastic addition to the Story of Malum Caedo, and with the addition of Nyra Veyrath and her different approach and loadout, there is a lot of replayability. Boltgun 2 doesn’t do anything revolutionary, but it doesn’t need to. The formula for running and gunning is what is advertised, and it’s exactly what we got. I absolutely adored my time with Boltgun 2, and any fans of Warhammer or Boomer Shooters will not be disappointed.

GamesHedge - Umair Khalid - 9 / 10

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is an excellent sequel that builds on everything that made the original such a satisfying retro FPS. Its brutal gunplay, rewarding melee combat, diverse enemy factions, challenging boss fights, and more complex level design make every encounter an absolute blast. The addition of Nyra Veyrath gives players another way to experience the campaign, while the branching missions provide a solid reason to return for another playthrough. Most importantly, Boltgun 2 captures the spirit of classic shooters while improving on its predecessor in nearly every aspect. Its challenging encounters can be punishing at times, but for fans of retro FPS games, this is an easy recommendation.

IGN - Sarah Thwaites - 8 / 10

A gore-geous pixelated boomer shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 builds on its predecessor by delivering an engaging, replayable campaign in spite of some minor blemishes.

Lords Of Gaming - Mahmood Ghaffar - 8.4 / 10

Boltgun 2 is rancid, violent, boomer shooter goodness. The tight gunplay and beautiful retro art style take me back to simpler times. Boltgun 2 sticks firmly within the wider Warhammer 40k universe and does so magnificently. Yes, my glasses are rose-tinted, but that doesn’t change the fact that Boltgun 2 absolutely delivers a phenomenal boomin’ shootin’ experience.

Pizza Fria - Álvaro Saluan da Cunha - Portuguese - 8 / 10

Boltgun 2 understands that the main pleasure of a boomer shooter lies in constant movement, quickly reading the environment, and that almost musical sensation of switching weapons while dozens of enemies are destroyed. At the same time, the Warhammer 40,000 setting never feels like just a generic skin placed over this structure.

PlayStation Universe - John-Paul Jones - 9 / 10

In every way that a sequel can and should improve over its predecessor, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 succeeds. A thunderously crunchy and wholly entertaining boomer shooter that firmly plants a steel-capped boot up the rear end of Games Workshop's most recognisable setting, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is essential fare for fans of both its titular dark sci-fi setting and classic first-person shooters. For the God-Emperor!

República DG - John Victor - Portuguese - 7.8 / 10

I wouldn’t say it’s a must-play for anyone looking for a casual FPS. There are other titles that can offer a more complete experience in different aspects, and the retro aesthetic alone may not appeal to everyone. However, if you have any interest in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Boltgun 2 is an easy recommendation—especially considering its price.

STWGames Italia - Nicola Lecis - Italian - 9.8 / 10

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 elevates the retro-FPS formula with two distinct protagonists, branching campaigns, and punchy, visceral gunplay. Embracing a glorious chunky pixel-art aesthetic backed by thunderous meaty sound design, it delivers an adrenaline-fueled love letter to '90s shooters and the 41st Millennium.

SmashPad - 4.25 / 5

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is a sequel-ass sequel in a great way. While not every decision is without question or critique, the bulk of them elevate the Boltgun canon and provide a streamlined, stylish way to experience 40K's incredibly dense and lore-heavy universe.

TechRaptor - Austin Suther - 9.5 / 10

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 improves upon the original with tighter level design and outstanding visuals. Giving players the choice between Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath and Ultramarine Malum Caedo adds a lot of variety to the gameplay, as both move differently and have a different roster of weapons.

The Games Machine - Marco Bortoluzzi - Italian - 8 / 10

Similarly to its predecessor, Boltgun 2 is a solid old-style shooter that is consistently good, but never excellent.
