So this is how we do it now? 40m

Hello world!

About 10 years ago, I laughed that my kid learned to crawl by chasing a robot (the vacuum). Now here I am trying to make friends via a post. Wild times.

40M from the East Coast of Canada. Married with kids, and between family, running a business and life in general, I've realized I haven't really maintained or made many friendships outside of all that. Figured I'd give this a shot!

I'm into a bit of everything. Fishing, hunting, camping, soccer, cooking (and eating!), home projects, exploring new places, travelling, finding funky little spots, and pretty much anything outdoors. I also have dogs, chickens and a cat.

Fitness is another interest of mine, or at least the thought of getting back into it consistently lol.

I'm pretty easygoing, enjoy a good conversation, some laughs, and I'm always up for trying something new, other then dancing (lol).

Not looking for anything complicated, just hoping to meet some genuine people to chat with, share interests, memes, and maybe hang out with eventually (if close, not a requirement). Male or female, married or single, doesn't matter to me. Just lookin' to "shoot da shit" one would say.

Ideally looking for people around Atlantic Canada/East Coast but anywhere in the world works!

Anyway, if you're in a similar boat or just feel like chatting, say hello!

43M transitions are weird

Hello Reddit. The title says it. I left the oilfield a couple years ago, I took a role as a teacher, and ondoacovered that oilfield friends are fickle. Or maybe they weren't really friends, just drinking buddies.

So new job, new me I guess. My hobbies include working on my constantly broken truck. Chasing my kids to preform normal human tasks. Mowing my lawn and bragging to neighbours that my lines are more consistent. A super exciting lifestyle.

I'm not really sure what I hope to gain here, maybe some new jokes of nothing else. I do love a lame joke. So let's hear those awful one liners.

Sometimes we just need to stop

Stop rushing. Stop thinking about everything we still have to do, everything we should have done, and everything waiting for us tomorrow.

Just stop for a moment, look around, and take in the world.

There’s so much beauty in the little moments we often walk right past.

Sometimes I have just that reminder, life isn’t just about getting somewhere. It’s also about appreciating where we are.

When was the last time you stopped and simply enjoyed the view?

43m-hello

Hello everyone! I’m 43m and looking to connect with like-minded people. I have Asperger's, which shapes how I see the world and feeds into my deep appreciation for my hobbies. I like to balance an active lifestyle with plenty of downtime. My routine usually involves jogging and gym sessions to stay fit. For relaxation, I lean heavily into books, music, and Netflix. I have a major soft spot for the true crime genre. I also love the energy of live music and try to hit concerts whenever I can.

43 m uk - looking for friends and chat buddies

Hello all

Andy here, 43 married with 3 kids based in Yorkshire, England. Over the last 10 years or have lost contact with a lot of friends as they've moved away or just drifted out of touch. I realised the other day that my main friendly contact is actually my boss who I have known for 15 years. This does leave me feeling lonely at times, with nobody to just talk to about random things that pop into my head.

With that in mind I thought I would reach out into the void of Reddit and see if there was anyone that wanted to connect, make friends, have a natter about life, the universe and everything.

I'm a bit of a geek, I enjoy gaming, photography, films, history but I am happy to chat about anything really. I have a healthy dark sense of humour so don't be afraid to throw your jokes at me

I've had mixed success so far, chatted to some nice people, but I thought I would put out a post anyway on the off chance it piques someone's interest.

Age/gender/sexuality unimportant, more about common interests and ideally able to hold a conversation and have a laugh together.

Anyway have a great day

Andy

A friend for the fall of civilization [40f/nb]

Hello internet.

Ive reached that point in my life where it gets difficult to be social. Old fiends from my youth have moved away or had children- nothing against human larva, they're just not for me. And my remaining group is made up of my industry friends and coworkers. I feel so alone, yet like everyone wants a piece of me.

I just want some fun platonic friends to send memes, bond over hobbies, maybe go to trivia or a hike if you're reasonably local.

Professionally driven, recreationally exhausting. I love my career and work a ton, and I spend my free time running, cycling, and kayaking like I’m trying to escape my thoughts.

Indoors, I am fueled by '90s pop-punk, metal, sci-fi horror, video games, and TTRPGs. (Seriously, give me your Spotify link so we can start building a playlist).

My love language? Penguin pebbling. Expect an influx of silly doodles, sad girl poetry, and an ungodly amount of TikToks. Your only job is to send back whatever is rattling around in your head. Give me highbrow philosophy or lowbrow gaming clips and memes, its all welcome. I have zero filter, and I expect you to have none either.

I am alt leaning, a bleeding heart liberal with tattoos and progressive ideals. I am capable of changing my opinions when given new information. I know! How novel! I also love an intelligent debate.

Tell me your spooky season plans and lets be friends!

Over 40? Got something you need to get off your chest?

Hey everyone! 👋

Life in your 40s is a strange old ride, isn't it?

Some days you've got everything figured out. Other days you're wondering how the hell you got here. 😂

So here's a little experiment...

My DMs are open.

Got something weighing on your mind? Something you're frustrated about? A secret, a regret, a relationship problem, or just something you desperately need to get off your chest?

Send it through.

No judgement. No lectures. No need to explain yourself.

I'm just a regular bloke in his 40s offering a friendly ear to anyone who needs one.

And here's the twist:

If you just want to vent, that's perfectly fine. You don't even need to have a conversation.

But if you'd like me to respond, simply write "REPLY" at the end of your message.

That's it!

Sometimes it's easier to tell a complete stranger what's going on than someone you've known your entire life.

Let's see where this goes. 😊

Please note: I wont share your stories, and I wont judge you. I'm by no means any kind of therapist, just another person navigating this weird decade of life. Please keep things respectful. No explicit sexual messages, threats, or descriptions of illegal activity. Im just here to listen and not judge. Im located in Australia, so if you request a reply please allow time for different time zones.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Is it just me, or is everyone in this group ridiculously interesting?

Scrolling through the posts, I get the impression that everyone over 40 has at least three fascinating hobbies, two hidden talents, and a collection of adventurous life stories. Some people are hiking mountains, learning new skills, creating beautiful things, or doing things I didn’t even know were hobbies!

Meanwhile, I work in research, which sounds quite impressive until you realise I’m still in the early stages of figuring things out 😕

My hobbies are rather low-key. Nothing particularly impressive. No exciting plot twists!

Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only one here whose list of hobbies wouldn’t make it past the first round of a talent show!

Please tell me I’m not the only ordinary human among all these overachievers!

Hi. 41 M. Looking to chat with new and different people. I am willing to talk about anything. I have a very bad habit of doom scrolling everyday due to my possible AuDHD. I am very non judgmental. I am also honest with people to a fault. If you want to know more please don’t be afraid to message me.

44F from Arkansas. Mother to 5. Oncology nurse.

I'm big into WWII, 1940s, 1950s, and spooky stuff. I adore nerds and have a tendency to geek out on my vintage lifestyle. (Sorry in advance!)

Currently renovating my ranch house to look more 1950s. I would love to put in a victory garden but need some help. Unfortunately I don't have the best green thumb.

My hobbies are knitting, sewing, crochet, reading, cooking, baking and quilting.

45 M EST looking to make new chat friends

Life is very busy and no time to go out to find new friends. Always enjoy finding people to talk online. Plus it’s way easier to meet people online. Married with 2 boys. Love coaching baseball, hunting, fishing, and wood working. First time here so let’s see where it goes.
