New to Ford, i love it! 2022 Ford Edge SEL

I've always been scared of owning any ford model but enjoyed them from afar and riding in them. Like when i was 20 i remember shopping for my "first" car and test drove a ford fusion and loved it (im glad i steered away from that one though lol). My older sister ran through Escapes like they were made of paper which made me even more scared of ever owning one. But wow i finally own one and im not regretful yet. I absolutely love it---

My only concern is that its a high mileage past rental vehicle that was part of a fleet with 96k miles. Everything about it feels new and it drives like its not even pushing 20k miles. Im wondering what i need to do to keep it this way and ive read the guide, handbook, and a few other posts here but I'm still unsure of whether or not to immediately get the car serviced for a transmission fluid flush or if its too late at this point...im also scared of getting screwed by a mechanic or better yet a mechanic screwing the transmission.

2013 Edge SEL

Have 2013 Edge SEL. Started making "whomp whomp whomp" sound when making turn from a stop. Not every turn but enough to get it checked out. No other noises or issues. They told me it was the rear differential. They "unplugged" the rear differential so now it doesn't make the noise. He said it's safe to drive as it is, it's just not AWD now. Is this correct? Can it really be driven indefinitely with it just unplugged or will it cause more damage or be unsafe?

‘18 Edge Sport seat fan failing?

• Upvotes

Passenger seat just started making a higher pitched whining noise after being on either cooling or heating mode for ~1 minute. Like a bearing might be going bad or something.

Has anyone replaced these themselves before and have any sage advice for someone tackling for the first time? I’m pretty handy, have all the basic tools plus some, and have watched a YouTube video or two on it, albeit on models not the same as my own.

Looks pretty involved, so any any pointers are welcome.

2024 Edge ST Heat / Cooling settings don't make sense

I just don't seem to understand how these settings work. I have cabin temp set to 72 degrees (both sides). Seat and Steering were "off" when I parked the car after work. Next morning, outside temp was in 50's. Seat and Steering wheel heat were "on" when I started the car - which was fine. When I left for home that afternoon, the outside temps was 82 degrees. When I started the car, both the Seat and Steering wheel heat was "on".

The reverse has happened when the Seat Cooling was activated and AC was turned on...the next morning, the temps were below the 72 degree setting, but the A/C was on as well as the Seat Cooling.

I have tried the Auto setting and it does not seem to matter. I thought maybe a Sync3 firmware update was needed, but it seems to be at the current version. Maybe this is just the way it works.

Question For high-mileage Ford Edge owners: What interior parts show wear first?

When you keep a vehicle for years, it’s usually the interior wear-and-tear that starts aging it faster than the mechanical side.

I’ve seen older Edges where the driver-side seat bolster cracks, the steering wheel leather starts peeling, or the center console buttons get gummy. The other big battle is the front carpets—once road salt, mud, and slush soak through generic mats, getting that ground-in grime completely out is a nightmare.

For those trying to keep the cabin looking fresh:

Did you stick with factory mats, or switch to deep-dish molded liners (Husky, WeatherTech, 3W, etc.) early on to save the floor pans?

What part of your Edge’s interior held up surprisingly well, and what’s the one spot you wish you’d protected from day one?
