• Briere is not going to do something that makes no sense. He's trying to be smart and not walk himself into a bad move because of the pressure.

• On Di Marco's article about Konecny, Elliotte isn't disputing the reporting.

• Elliotte's broadcast partner, Craig Simpson, sometimes looks at Elliotte and asks "Someone told you that?" As a former coach/player, his sensibilities get offended by some of the things that get reported. The Konecny report reminded Elliotte of that reaction.

• Elliotte has been on the end of calls where he checks in on a rumor, and the person on the other end is steaming that somebody leaked it to him.

• When you're losing and something like this gets out, you know there's a lot of people who are going to be furious to see that written and know somebody told them that.

• Even when you're not winning, you want all your guys pulling together. When you see something like this get reported, you're not pulling together. People are getting thrown off the bus.

Sorry for making so many posts tonight lol. Just can't fathom what we are watching and it made me think of this interview with Danny before hiring Tocchet.

Everything he said went against the kind of HC Tocchet is. And now this talent he was so happy about has gone backwards in a significant way.

Disastrous.

Addition by subtraction frost, farabee, hayes etc

He established a culture

He thought we were too slow up the middle especially coots

He turned TK into a bad ass pk player with goals off the rush

He let tk play, built a system around Michkov

He went at it with sanheim and turned him into what he is

He went at it with york because he's a bitch.

His rope test made sure everyone was in shape

He gave us brad shaw.... And we would have made the playoffs if we weren't sellers at the deadline.

At this point as somebody that’s currently working nights at a grocery store to save money, hoping to go back to school to be a coach one day, I’m genuinely APPALLED at the state of this team right now.

They are saying “ it’s not a coaching issue” but the players on this team are afraid to make plays and are having the offence sucked out of them right now.

I agree that defensive play should be the core of a team but you can’t sacrifice your players ability’s and development of there game to do that, dump and chase hockey does not match the instinctive play style of the players on this team.

A change needs to be made soon, I’m willing to step up and be a volunteer coach for this team if they need it at this point.

I’m not trying to say that we should start throwing things on the ice or anything but at the next home game we have we need to let our voices be heard around the stadium, start a chant and keep it going for as long as possible, don’t stop until they are forced to address it publicly.

I’m not local in Philly I’m a fan from NS so I’m hoping everyone here can help me out on this.

IMO This organization has been completely rudderless since the beginning of the Hextall era. Leadership from him on has had a vague sense of how teams should be built with no clear vision of what the finished products might look like, let alone how they might be sustainable. We've been sold a giant bill of goods for the last 12 years and counting, with no end in sight.

Anyone can answer here, but I'm most curious how those who've been around for a while are feeling. Maybe you remember the Cup teams, maybe you just missed them like I did, maybe you were here for the promise and heartbreak of the 80s, the Lindros era, anything pre-2004 lockout. All of those teams followed the same blueprint. Establish a core, add the appropriate talent around them, and play a style suited to their makeup. When the organization started down a particular path, you could see where they were going. That hasn't been true since 2010. Each path forward since then has been clear as mud.

Considering that, and considering we once again have to start over mere months after we thought we were over that hump, I ask: Are you finding it harder to be invested? Are you closer to done with the team than you ever thought you would be? Do you think the organization realizes how bad that would be?

Again, anyone is free to answer this, but It probably resonates more deeply with those of us who've been around a while and remember how the team used to pride itself on its vision for success.

Since everyone in this sub is in tear-it-all-down mode, I figured I’d offer a longer term perspective where we don’t trade every asset in a blind panic.

First of all, fire Tocchet, but not yet. It’s honestly a little late to gamble on turning around and getting a playoff spot this year (obviously be happy if they did tho), so let him burn. Then fire him at the end of the season, maybe right after the trade deadline, when the drafting order is easier to predict.

Then Danny can go into contract negotiations with the ace of promising a more offensive and youth-focused coach in the next year, potentially keeping Michkov (an absolute must at this point).

Additionally, while everyone wants to sell Risto, nobody wants to buy him. I think they have to let him walk at the end of the season, but that lets them call young guys up next season. Will they be good? Who knows. But I bet they’d be worth something in a trade vs Risto who is basically just a guaranteed IR.

Seeler, love the guy great warrior, is getting up there ( for a hockey player). His contract is up the year after Risto.
Same thing, I think, or maybe a trade or two year extension. He’s so far a lot less injury prone.

Then the year after is Coots. Poor ol’ Coots. What a champ, and honestly the only center on the ice actually doing anything right now. But his contract is up the year after Seeler.
Love the guy, let him retire please.

So timeline wise, we looking at three years before our slowest vets are gone. Complain about it if you want, but that’s the reality.

Which gives three more years for the current young guys to hit their stride, pride and prime.
Which they could absolutely do (with a better coach).

And it would let Tippet and TK slide down the line a little, maybe third or fourth pair. Which I, personally, think could be lethal.
Does anyone else remember a couple years ago, the last time TK was actually healthy, when Torts had those two on the same PP and line all the time? I thought at that time they were better than the sum of their parts. Which is what you want for a forward pair.

Plus if we keep losing TK probably doesn’t feel the pressure to come back way too early and might actually be able to recover from the injuries that have been obviously plaguing him for a full year at least.

TLDR; don’t panic sell, even when it goes bad. Keep Tippet and TK as they’ve got NMC/NTC anyway and would be a killer vet line in a few.
Fire Tocchet, but at the end of the bad year not the start, especially bc there’s three years left before the old slow vets move on.
