I'm currently trying different Linux distros until I find one that I really like. So far, I've tried Ubuntu, Fedora, and EndeavourOS.
Here's what I think about each one:
Ubuntu
- Simple and beginner-friendly.
- Comes with more built-in features and customisations than vanilla GNOME.
- Feels like a complete desktop experience right out of the box.
Fedora Workstation
- Offers a relatively up-to-date Linux experience.
- Uses GNOME with fewer customisations compared to Ubuntu.
- Feels closer to vanilla GNOME while still being user-friendly.
EndeavourOS
- I really like its appearance, especially KDE Plasma.
- Offers lots of customisation options.
- However, I encountered a few issues while trying it. Maybe some of them were caused by using the live environment instead of installing it, but I'm not sure.
I'm still a beginner with Linux, and I'm enjoying exploring different distros and desktop environments. I haven't decided which one to settle on yet.
I'd like to know:
- Which distro would you recommend for someone like me?
- Are the issues I encountered with EndeavourOS likely to disappear after installation, or could they persist?
- Is EndeavourOS worth using as a daily driver, or would Fedora or Ubuntu be a better choice?
- What other distros do you think I should try?
I'd appreciate your honest opinions and experiences. I'm interested in real-world user experiences, not just distro rankings!
