Found this interesting, especially in the light of 2XKO that a lot of professionals who play anime fighters go industry. Also seems specific that anime players go industry, wonder if there are any from the SF side of things that go industry as well.

Side note: I need to watch more LK, he's an interesting man with a lotta history attached to him.

I was thinking KI is gonna be pretty huge and MS is gonna go all in with marketing lol. It was also during the time Capcom fumbled big time with SF5 people doubted SF6 will even be a thing.

And here we are today almost a decade after and KI as an IP is pretty much dead, it’s pretty sad how much they failed to capitalize on this.

Help 2d Fighter beginner recommendation Kof XV or Fatal Fury COTW

• Upvotes

I'm a Tekken refugee looking to finally make the change and switch to 2d fighters. Snk games took my attention especially Kof xv and Fatal Fury COTW being on Xbox and with full crossplay.

Which one would you think would be the better purchase in terms of value for the money and to learn the genre and maybe get good fundamentals for the coming snk games?

Help (Returning) beginner to fighters, is switching between controller and leverless based on my location a bad idea?

Hey all!

Beginner to fighters here (I used to play Dragonball Fighterz quite a bit but never got good).

I recently got a Switch 2, and the option to game on the go really got me into gaming again and sparked my interest in fighting games once more.

I wanted to get an 8bitdo leverless, but then I realized I also have some commutes during which I'd like to do some labbing.

Is it a bad idea to get a leverless for when I'm at home, and a gamepad for when I'm on the move? My main worry is that learning on 2 different controllers may not be the best approach.

Thanks in advance!

Help How to perform this attack of Vanessa?

Not sure if I can ask this here, but basically, most modern Yakuza games have VF5 as a minigame, and one of its related achievements is to clear all stages, which also includes the fight against V-Dural.

Some guides suggested that Vanessa is the best pick for this due to her opponents mostly taking her Back-Kick-Kick attack, but I'm not sure how to execute it.

In case you need a reference, I'm playing on PS4, with the Yakuza games I know having VF5 being Judge Eyes, Lost Judgment and Yakuza 7.

Help looking for a retro 2D fighting game noob friendly to play with a nood friend

Hi,

I search a 2D fighting game to play with my friend who never really play this sort of game, and don't really want to put many time and effort to enjoys it.
I'm quite skill on street fighter 2x so when I try some random fighting game with him, he was pretty discourage because he couldn't do anything against me, and struggle to just do some basic thing like DP or even hado like tech. We're also pretty poor and only have old pc, so recent game is a no go for us.
So this is all the element I look at:
- a game you could play in a really old computer.
- a game where you can play online, no need an active community, because I just want to play with him
- a game with no skilled timing to do things like combo or special move or reversal. No long combo chain is something I would like to, like SF2X where a 2 hit combo + a special move is all you need to do make good damage, but a game with timing a bit easier than SF2X that could be a bit to precise for him. A 360 throw that would just require a simple press button would be an heresy for me, but it would fit him more for example.
- so it would be a game more based on the mind game, just have the reflex to hit confirm thing, footsie, neutral game, with a diverse cast with really different style of character, and no need to be balanced at all.

I already play smash bros with him, but for me it was a bit bland. Without glitches and thing like that, it seems to me that there not so much thing to do with this game in a casually setting.

Help Is it just invincible or will it be all fighting games?

A few months back I got invincible vs, and now it is uninstalled and probably won’t ever be reinstalled. If I could get a refund I would but that’s not the point this thing is about. recently as you all know, Tokon just came out and I am a huge marvel guy. I am new to this genre but I want to learn because games like Tokon look so fun. My question is if I couldnt stand invincible, will Tokon be a waste of money.

i want to know this because invincible was actually bought by a relative of mine as a gift and I feel so bad about them spending 50 bucks in a game I barely played and won’t touch again, so I don’t want that to happen again.

Their are fundamental stuff in invincible that make the game feel clunky like the restrictions they put on all your moves, you know how you can only go to a higher move in a combo usually (medium attack can’t be followed by light). That with that stupid mechanic where someone can just hold the assist button and get a TOD, that’s so stupid. But I know that’s not in Tokon, my real concern is with really any fighting game, testing.

I watch streamers like Maxamillion and he streams his testing before he hops into matches and that part can take an hour plus. And I know with invincible I couldn’t stay in that testing range for 5 minutes because I got so bored. In my head I feel it has to do with the characters since half the roster have the exact same abilities so they have like 10 characters who’s specials are just punching in slightly different ways so I feel like that is a part of it but I don’t know. Tokon looks so fun and unlike invincible everyone looks cool and unique but I know if I can’t get in the practice range and stay to actually learn how to play, I’m going to get made and turn off the game forever. I just want to know if testing in Tokon may be able to hold my attention better and when taking into acount what I’ve said if it would be a dumb thing to buy Tokon or would it be fine? I thank you in advance and have a good day.

Topic What's Next for Fighting Games

This year saw the release of 2 of the biggest fighting games in the last few years with 2XKO and Marvel Tokon. Both of these have come out to a pretty middling or even negative reception. While I am hoping Marvel Tokon can turn it around as I love a lot about that game 2XKO is going into maintenance mode soon and is largely considered a flop. Along with these 2 there were 2 mid level fighting games with Avatar and Invincible VS while Avatar seems fairly successful for how small of a game it is Invincible VS seems to have been a flop as well.

Seeing this year and all of these games that I was relatively excited for release with big issues and to a not very positive reception it has made me wonder what do you guys think is next for fighting games? What games are you guys most excited for and what games do you think could tear you away from the big 3 which seems to still be GGST, SF6 and Tekken 8? It's also made me wonder do you guys think any tag fighter can hit the level of Dragonball Fighterz again? Lastly what do you think is missing in the fighting game space that is not currently served by the big 3?

Overall I am a little worried about future investment into fighting games with how badly the bigger releases have gone this year. It also is not comforting that even the biggest fighting game SF6 seems to not be getting the level of support you would expect. On the contrary though as long as there is a player base there will be new games for the genre.
