6 months ago I decided to work on Rulers of the Outer Worlds for fun and to take sick screenshots. I was so proud at the time of getting it under 10 minutes. Then I tried a couple of different combinations and managed to get it under 6 minutes and figured that was about as good as I was gonna get. A couple of weeks ago I booted up the game again and started running Rulers to blow off steam and found I was getting more efficient and better with reactions against Gilgamesh and Sephiroth. Over the course of the last week, I managed to hit under 5 minutes and then improve on that even more. I'm not sure if or when I will beat my current record, but I get a lot of joy out of just running it a few times before bed.

Anyone else enjoy labbing these things? The summons? The Brutal and Legendary challenges? What are your favorite accomplishments and how did you achieve them?

Are you like me and spent an inordinate amount of time in Chapter 12 because you know what’s coming?

It’s not even because I wanted to do side quests. I just wanted to delay that inevitable scene.

I love the new party load outs where you can swap preset parties.

However it doesn’t quite solve the issue I had in remake… constantly swapping materia! It doesn’t appear that materia carries over to preset parties.

Is there such a feature? Am I missing something? Figured it would be a no brainer to have this quality of life feature and when I saw the preset parties I was so happy thinking materia carried over…

Alright so I’m on chapter 11

About 75 hours in and they for the most part have breezed past. I play after work& gym about 3-4 hours average a night and im not understanding why people complain about bloat and length? Granted, not all of the mini games hit, I roll my eyes everytime I have to catch a chocobo, and I rolled my eyes at nearly everything in gongaga. But I enjoyed mostly everything else.

I truly wonder if most people complaining about the length of this game have ever touched a RPG?

Just started the game on chapt 2.

Looks like we have more flexibility on party than in Remake where at times we were forced to use certain characters.

Generally I like to go with cloud Tifa Aerith. Tifa for atb and stagger bonus, Aerith for massive nukes and arcane.

Is this a good all purpose setup for rebirth? Or would u swap one of them for another character? To be fair I’ve never played Yuffie or Red so I may be jumping the gun here.

What 3 some did u guys prefer for a general setup (priority to boss fights over trash)

I'm doing a kind of speed run through the game just to see how fast I can get through it on Dynamic mode. Midgardsormr won't go down easy, and all I'm running is level 1 materia. But right as I think the end is near...

Was haste nerfed other than in MP cost compared to Remake? Playing the games for the first time back to back right now and when I used haste + maginfy in remake my party felt bustet in a way that my atb were almost always filled. Finally got the first magnify materia in Rebirth now and the atb gain feels really slow compared to remake but I couldn’t find any info on any nerfs other than mp cost.

I didn't play the OG and. I can't wait for Revelation, but oh man. This ending confused me and deeply saddened me...

Aerith was my favourite character 🙏 and seeing her DYING in the LAST CHAPTER was kinda a punch in the face😭

But apart from that I really liked the game but now I don't know what to do with myself🫠

She can change her shuriken attacks to use all four elemental types (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind) natively without needing to waste Materia slots. Her ability to zip right back to her thrown shuriken gives her unmatched mobility, making her arguably the best aerial fighter in the game. Early access to moves like Windstorm can easily group up and stagger standard mobs or trivialize regular encounters.

So something I missed in my first playthrough that I just saw again for the first time last night in Ch13. When Rufus and Hojo are on approach to the temple and Rufus is asking what Hojo thinks the temple is if not the promised land, he goes into this big shpeel about how it's some grand stage and refers back to the four robed men he has chained up in the back of the chopper. The camera zooms in on one of them and you see a glimpse up his hood at a dirty blonde tuft of facial hair on the man's chin and it dawns on me, "oh shit! That is Roche!!" I saved and quit for the night there and can't recall if there's any call back to that part of the narrative later in the level, but I'm gonna pay extra attention this time around to see if it actually already shows us the end of Roche's story. The fact that he was grouped in with what seemed to be sacrificial lambs does not bode well for him getting a grand send off or the closure and resolution most folks are wanting him to get.

Though everything aside, I'm glad if they had to shoehorn in a rando Soldier 1st class other than the trio of Sephi, Zack, and quasi-Cloud(since he was never actually a soldier, much less first class) that they made it someone legit cool as Roche was. I'm the first one to think the racing metaphors should've gotten old, but the dude pulled em off flawlessly lol.

Speaking of is there ever any mention of a soldier 2nd class? 3rd? 0 class even? I guess 0 class would be the underdark since they'd have to be stronger than 1st class. I know there is a lot of lore beyond the game and advent children, so I'm just curious if they ever delve into the soldier rankings?

I have (almost) all the trophies, other than some hard mode stuff.

Anyway, I’m starting a complete new game and wondering if there’s a good guide to what I can avoid doing that won’t miss out on any player power? Like can I avoid hard mode mini games? Or any of the more… egregious stuff?

As someone who was just trying to beeline through the story, this region sucked big time donkey doodoo butt cheeks. Annoying terrain to navigate whether on foot or on a Chocobo, and no amount of Crisis Core callbacks will be enough to save it for me. Probably would’ve had more impact if I actually played Crisis Core. Also probably could’ve done without retreading old ground when I had to play as the girls with grapple guns, but that’s whatever.

I stopped by there on my way N in ch13 of my Hard mode playthrough but I couldn't get anything to activate and it looks like none of the summon pairing battles are accessible anymore. Just wondering if there's something you're supposed to do beforehand to get that running or if you did it in dynamic then it's just done for good? Was just wanting to see how well I did with the double summons in Hard difficulty.

To the OG FF7 players… Am I the only one thinking that Yuffie’s last name was Kisagari this whole time??? When they actually pronounced it when she introduced herself I was thinking they messed up at first lol… Then I opened up my original FF7 booklet and sure enough it was Kisaragi this whole time lmfao…

Really enjoyed the game but they seemed to phoned it in for the boat sections. Nothing to do but so much space.
I’ve done Gilgamesh stuff and almost collected those purple boxes but apart from that nothing else?!

I use auto materias auto weapon, auto cast and auto unique all the time, i also count synergy materia as an auto materia since using an abilty causes them to use the link spell, which in this case is lightning and wind materia. auto materia is ususlly paired with other auto materia to set up the party, but here cloud was going crazy and nearly took the kill if my plasma discharge didnt...discharge. as for what im doing here im getting the last folios on hard mode to get the platinum. Im not sure if doing this quest is much of a spoiler

I platinumed the game in 70h and my friend thinks i cheated. Is that considered a super rare achievement ?

I am sure this has come up many times but I keep hearing there was a lot hate for the number of mini games in rebirth. Some folks calling out the number, difficulty, tying them to trophies. I have heard mini games called out in articles and some people lump it in as bloat. I loved the mini games. I wish there were more. Outside of the sit-up challenge I thought they were all great and hoping revelation has more. I really enjoyed the piano although some were tooth. I thought they were well put together, fun, and challenging. Does anyone agree?
