New Poke Bowl cart on River Rd.

Sorry if this breaks any rules. I checked the side bar and didn't see anything about it.

A dear friend of mine has spent the better part of this year fixing up a food truck(he bought the Nosh cart when the owner retired and has been remodeling it).

He's been "soft opening" for about a month and a half now to get his feet wet, but it's called Nori Rice Poke.

He's getting better about posting on the business and "person" Facebook pages he set up with his fiance, and is also starting an Insta as well as a direct website. [Nori Rice Poke](https://noriricepoke.com/)

For now, he's doing hours of Tuesday-Saturday 1-6pm or when he sells out, and right now is alternating between Tuna and Salmon basic bowls(shown here), but the plan is to add more options/apps, and maybe even specials as it gains ground.(He actually told me today he added a tofu bowl for the vegans)

So if you live in the River Rd. area, or Poke is enough your jam you'd travel you should check them out!

Green coconuts - any in town?

• Upvotes

Looking to get some green coconuts - not the husked brown fuzzy inner nut like at Market Of Choice, but an actual whole coconut as it grew on the tree. Any shops carry them in town? Thanks!

Best guitar tech in town?

• Upvotes

Hey all,

I recently bought myself a used electric guitar (Schecter C-1 Classic '07) and she was set up pretty good until I gauged up my strings. Now, the actions a little wonky and after a few weeks of adjusting the truss and saddle, she's buzzing pretty nasty.

I think I've dug myself into a hole with it and, at this point, I think it's worth handing off to a professional and just telling him I want as low as action as possible with as little buzz as possible. But I also tend to be a little wary of handing my guitars off to just anybody to work on, especially if I'm paying a big bill for it.

Does anybody know of experienced and reasonably priced guitar tech in town? I'm fairly new to Oregon, so I haven't made any connections I really trust yet in this realm.

Got any euros you’d like to trade?

• Upvotes

Been to Europe recently? If you came home with unspent euros you’d like to exchange without giving the banks a cut, I’m interested! Happy to exchange for Canadian dollars, British pounds, or good old American dollars. Small amounts and coins are fine. Before Monday, and I’m in SE Eugene. Feel free to dm.

KEZI, are you kidding me?

School shooting in Bend and we have to go to weather as the first story at 4pm and 4:30pm? What is with the unhealthy fascination with weather in this town? We literally could have the deadly Cascadia Earthquake hit and KEZI would start off the newscast with the weather report.

Oakway Center Mall slowdown last night?

Does anyone know what was going on at Oakway last night? I was headed to the movie theater around 7, and there were people stopping everyone as the drive through an intersection; they wanted to know where we were headed, and wanted to chat about nothing in particular before letting us go. I was in a rush otherwise I'd have asked them what was up. Any ideas?

Homelessness Disabled- Housing/Navigation help?

I am severely disabled & unable to work- without ending up in the ER. Many stacked conditions so it doesn't take much usage of energy/stress before my body malfunctions.

I've been staying with my bestfriend unofficially(not on lease) but I have to find a new place to live. I only get $994 SSI income.

I was wondering what disability resources have been proven to help in navigating housing & acquiring it? I don't to waste time & energy just to realize an organization can't help.

Is there anyone in town who can successfully grind this rail at the top, kickflip the gap, and continue the grind down the second section?

There's a substantial hill/runway at the top for building speed, I think it might even be possible with the right set of roller blades....

Southern Oregon Driving Education - Driving Test.

Hi Everyone ! I have my driving test coming up soon at Southern Oregon Driving Education, and I was wondering if anyone here has taken their test there before.

How was your overall experience? Was the examiner friendly or strict? What did the test involve, and were there any tricky parts I should prepare for?

I'd really appreciate any tips or advice from people who have taken their driving test there.

Social security scam alert.

Several calls this morning from random different numbers claiming to be social security. I answered the last one. This individual claimed we had an appointment and missed it. Told me the numbers come up differently because sometimes they are routed from New York or Chicago. Uh huh. Sure. Told me we should have got a letter in the mail. Really. Hmmm. I asked which address. Because we moved a year ago and promptly updated that info at S.S office. He couldn’t tell me the old address. Said I needed to update at office. Or he could do it for me. Sure. I reported the scam to police and social security. He was convincing. I can see how a elderly person could fall for it.

Something to do See Bat Boy the Musical this Halloween!

Hey Eugenians! If you like weird musicals, campy horror, or live theatre you should check out our production of Bat Boy: the Musical.

It’s playing at the Opal Center in beautiful downtown Cottage Grove. Shows are Thursday through Saturday of Halloween weekend (Oct 29-31) and the following weekend (Nov 5-7).

Just a 25-30 min commute from town, and well worth it to see this piece of theatre that is not staged as often as I think it should be! Our cast features talented local performers in an intimate black-box venue.

Bat Boy is based on the ridiculous tabloid stories printed in the Weekly World News in the 90s! It explores what the Bat Boy’s life would be like if a regular family took him in and taught him how to be a man. The story is hilarious, heartfelt, and tragic.
It is NOT family friendly and we are recommending it for at least ages 14 and up.

More info and tickets here.

Any bars that have non-dairy milk/cream options?

I'm vegan and I love white russians. I make them at home with almond milk. I miss going out to bars but I can't bring my own drink in and they don't seem to ever have a non-dairy alternative for white russians. Does anyone know of anything?

Measure 20-388 would charge large retailers a 2% fee on gross profits from Eugene sales to fund clean energy programs. Lookout Eugene-Springfield checked key claims from both campaigns, including whether the fee would raise prices and how retail plays into the city's climate pollution issues.

jiggly Cyclists, what does your cycling attire look like in the colder months?

I haven't been a regular cyclist in a long time though I used to be, but I didn't really care about getting cold and soggy buuut now I do. What do you wear that's water resistant and BREATHABLE? I wanna work commute and go on fun long rides, if that makes a difference in answers. Also bonus points for tips on riding in the rain as a glasses wearer! TIA!

Fosters needing forever homes

These sweeties need their new families! My husband and I have fostered them for months and they’re ready to start their next chapters. I’ll list their short blurbs but I’m happy to send tons of photos and all of their info. We’ve had them for months, we know them very well. We’ll be particular about where they go to assure the right fit and not have them bounce around! Thank you for taking the time to look. Please reach out if you’re interested and help spread the word!

They get long great but I am not expecting them to go to a new home together, that would be incredible but not necessary for their happiness. They would do great in a home with another dog to play with and or someone who has experience with the breed!

Montgomery (Monty)-brindle neutered, UTD on shots, turned 1 in August, sweet cuddle bug boy, loves to play fetch, loves water, gentle with cats, great with other dogs, totally up for a hard hike and then lazy laid back nap for the rest of the day! 56-60 pounds

Spicy (Spicy Chicken) -black and white spots with brindle booty, UTD on shots, born on Christmas Eve, very snuggly Velcro girl, loves to sunbathe outside and always finds the sunspot in the house, loves water, loves to play fetch, has loved every dog she’s met, gentle with cats but curious, great recall, like to nap under the covers! 45 pounds

Looking for a specific kind of pizza. Please help.

I've had ok pizza in Eugene, but I'm looking for old school crispy pizza. The kind that is flat, and sometimes has cornmeal on the bottom.

It's old school Pietro's style. Ciddicci's in Albany used to be great. Then it was not. Paddington's in Salem style. Wallery's in South Salem was so good, then they weren't. Shakey's, but they closed.

Abby's tried, but failed and costs nearly 50 bucks for a pie.

Do you have any recommendations?

I might just drive to Cottage Grove and order Pinocchio's, because it's really good and exactly what I like. I WAS JUST HOPING TO FIND THAT PIZZA HERE IN EUGENE.
