Finally finished my Eldrad Ulthran!

Decided to extend the galaxy theme from his cloak to his robes to bring the whole model together. Quite a bit of extra work, but I'm happy with the result!

C&C welcome!

Greenstuff Mullet for Prince Yriel Quandry

Hi All,

I'm trying to build a Voidscarred combat patrol based on the wardrobe/colour scheme of the various iterations of David Bowie. I've lopped off Prince Yriel's topknot in prep to give him a mullet a là Alladin Sayne or Halloween Jack (the eyepatch might work better. Have any of you sculpted hair on Aeldari before and if so what pitfalls should I avoid? I gave a haemonculus a durag once but it didn't look a bit hairy.

Many thanks, sorry if this is the wrong page for this

Fan Art & Fiction Alaťariëa the Eternal Huntress by Yangzheyyy

Post image
410 Upvotes

Alaťariëa the Eternal Huntress is a Corsair Princess, an Outcast with an enigmatic past and renowned as a persistent huntress who hunts the deadliest game across the galaxy. While she openly claims to hail from Lótessara, nobody knows her identity before she assumed her current name. Many Lótessaran Rangers theorized she might be Cellaeth, one of their own who slew many Chaos Astartes, including those of the Night Lords and Emperor's Children during the Gothic War, but she was declared dead, despite neither her Soulstone nor her body ever being recovered.

Regardless of her origins, Alaťariëa emerged from obscurity within the Corsair Group known as the Executioners, where she operated as a Fate Dealer, using the cover of shadows to wreak havoc against the forces of the Imperium. During a raid on an Imperial depot, Alaťariëa simply disappeared without a trace, much to the dismay of the Corsair Baron she served. In the centuries following her departure, rumors circulated that Alaťariëa had grown bored with her tenure among the Executioners and began exploring other marvels throughout the Materium and the Webway, including the labyrinthine Hive Worlds, the numerous Craftworlds, the Damocles Gulf, the Koronus Expanse, and even the treacherous Dark City. Whether she was simply finding a new purpose among the stars or trying to find a place to call her own, nobody truly knew.

However, many centuries later, rumors postulated by warring factions of the galaxy spoke of an Eldar Huntress draped in starlight, wielding either a unique Long Rifle or Power Glaive, who seemed to disappear into the shadows as swiftly as she arrived, leaving in her wake both her prey and the bodies of any who dared stand in her way. Among her attributed kills were Space Marine Captains, Chaos Champions, a Haemonculus from the Prophets of Flesh, rival Eldar Corsairs, Kroot Shapers, Inquisitors of the Ordo Xenos, Genestealers, a Necron Deathmark, and a legendary Vindicare Assassin. Each kill added to her fearsome reputation, marking her as a threat to every faction she encountered. Many titles were bestowed upon this Aeldari, but one eclipsed all others: the Eternal Huntress.

Alaťariëa's numerous exploits became legendary among Ranger circles and Corsair Warbands; several followers joined her, drawn to her lethal grace and unflinching spirit. What began as a small entourage of Lótessaran Rangers and Outcasts seeking her wisdom became her shadows, following her example of stalking prey on countless worlds. As her legend grew, so did her followers. Her original inner circle of hunters slowly grew into a flotilla of vagabonds and renegades: Aeldari Outcasts from several Craftworlds, exiled Dark Eldar, glory-seeking Exodites, and even a small number of Xenos mercenaries. This flotilla became feared throughout rival factions and earned the moniker of Alaťariëa's Hunters, each a consummate predator, yet all unified by the apex predator. While Alaťariëa's Hunters are modest in composition compared to other Corsair Groups, what sets them apart is their unshakable creed and unwavering commitment to the Eternal Huntress; they operate more like a Hunting Lodge than a proper Corsair Fleet. Alaťariëa is one who leads through example rather than grandiose articulation, allowing her knowledge and tactical foresight to bring glory to each kill and exotic riches to her followers.

She maintains close ties with Lótessara, regularly serving as one of their trusted agents in pursuing and recovering rare botanical specimens from treacherous regions, though she has proven unpredictable when the scent of a larger prize calls to her. Alaťariëa and her flotilla were among the reinforcements that saved Lótessara from the forces of Nurgle following the opening of the Great Rift. The Eternal Huntress had grown to relish the discord that the 42nd Millennia had in store, knowing it would offer opportunities to hunt far deadlier prey, especially those of the Necrons and Tyranids.

This round of the War in Heaven goes to the children of Asuryan (thoughts on tournament prep and lite battle report in post)

Post image

Played a game vs a good friend’s Cursed Legion necrons today, scratching out a 100-75 victory (Aspect Host, prio assets, layout 1). My friend is an excellent necrons player and he also stomped me in all our previous tournament prep games, so I’ve learnt a LOT playing him.

I had brought a gun platform wraithknight to a tournament about 2 weeks back for laughs and aura (predominantly laughs), and I went 1-2 with a close loss to admech and a crushing defeat to custodes. Today I wanted to see what Eldar could really do with an optimised MSU list, and man - I knew the gun wraithknight was not points-efficient, but I didn’t grasp just how much.

I swapped it out today for Jain + 5 banshees, 10 guardian defenders for OC, and a block of 5 wraithguard with D-scythes and a spiritseer. The rest of my list was Eldrad, the Avatar, Lhykis + spiders, Shining Spears, Dragon Knights, Fuegan + Dragons, rangers, skyreavers, a War Walker, and my sleeper pick… Asurmen with 10 dire avengers.

I was defender and deployed somewhat cagily; rangers infiltrated on the center, Fuegan and Dragons toed the deployment line behind my expansion and everything else was behind terrain.

TURN 1

I get first turn and the rangers perform the vital link action on the center; I drew Plunder (and something else I can’t remember), so the skyreavers came in from deep strike on the other central objective to get my secondaries. I staged the wraithguard and Avatar just behind the central objective, everything else stayed put. On Necrons turn 1, a squad of skorpekhs moves up and blends the skyreavers into a fine paste, but it’s okay - they trade well for 5 VP and force enemy units into the kill box.

TURN 2

Rangers action on the central again. I draw Grievous Blow, so I advance Fuegan and the dragons to touch terrain, hoping to drop the Nightbringer for VP. I pop a strat and token for sustained + lethals and… I don’t roll a single 6, nightbringer makes all the invulns against the squad, and Fuegan rolls two 1s to hit. Fuegan charges in, hoping to tie up the nightbringer when he gets back up, promptly dies and… rolls ANOTHER 1 on the revive.

Rough start.

Thankfully the wraithguard vaporise the skorpekhs, and the dragon knights hit a squad of Ophidians in front of the necrons’ expansion. There’s another unit of Skorps, this time with a Lord, just behind them, but I’m happy to trade as I have Jain and the girls staged to hit the skorpekhs back. 85 points is also a worthy sacrifice to remove the necrons’ sole uppy-downy unit.

Predictably the dragons get mullered on the necrons’ clapback, and the nightbringer moves over the corpse of Fuegan to threaten the avatar. It triggers the rangers’ reactive move, who move behind terrain to block the void dragon’s charge into the wraithguard. This becomes really clutch - due to bad rolls for him and lucky rolls for me, the rangers lose only a single model to the void dragon’s shooting. This forces him to split fire with his 6 lokhusts; 3 into the wraithguard and 3 into the rangers. The Rangers finally die, and between the salvo and the void dragon’s charge, the Wraithguard lose 4 of their number. Not too bad! The avatar tanks the Nightbringer.

TURN 3

The spiritseer now actions on the central, going to 3 objective markers. The avatar falls back and tags the other central objective; having drawn overwhelming force and burden of trust, I stage the aspects for a big go turn.

I stack layers of buff on the Nightbringer - doom + war Walker buff + Lhykis’ crits on 5. Then Asurmen and the avengers move out from cover and lay down a shocking amount of HURT. I pop the strat for lethals, and out of 44 shots I somehow land 55 wounds on the Nightbringer before Asurmen has even shot. Once it dies, I move-shoot-move the unit back behind cover. Lhykis and the spiders + the shining spears then charge the void dragon, and Jain Zar and the girls wipe the skorpekhs + Lord on the enemy expansion.

My opponent pays CP to interrupt and wipes the shining spears with the Void Dragon, which was absolutely the right move as Lhykis and the spiders only do about 2 wounds back. Huge scoring turn for the Eldar, with primary points stacking up and Grievous Blow + No Prisoners + burden of trust achieved.

Necron clapback starts to hurt, but luckily I hold on. My units on the main central are all wiped by the lokhusts and Void Dragon, leaving me with nothing to action with at the start of next turn. Flayed ones hit Jain Zar and the banshees hard, but crucially, Jain lives and wipes the flayed ones out.

TURN 4

I’m running out of pieces, but the ones that are left can really swing the game. I can’t action on the center, but because Jain now holds the enemy expansion, I do get my 4VP.

Eldrad moves out from behind cover to Cleanse on the other central objective, the guardians cleanse the expansion. I battle focus and advance Jain close to the center. Asurmen and the dire avengers pop out and do their thing again - although they no longer have Lhykis’ buff, between the War Walker and Eldrad’s Doom, they wipe the Lokhusts to just the Lord. Between the walker’s bright Lance and the Avatar’s wailing doom, the void dragon is also brought to just 7 wounds.

The avatar charges the void dragon, and Jain makes it into the Lokhust Lord. I manage to make both kills, partially scoring Overwhelming Force; crucially, the Avatar consolidates back onto the main central, which means I hold it at the end of my turn and score another 5 primary VP now + 8 at the start of my next turn.

On the Necron turn, his other unit of skorpekhs + Lord connects with the guardians on my expansion and subjects them to a horrible, grisly, predictable death. I also lose Jain Zar to the Nekrosor, but the writing is on the wall now with what pieces we have left.

We talk out Turn 5 - I’ll score big on primary since the Avatar holds one central, and I draw Beacon and Secure No Man’s Land, all of which I can max out. He can’t catch me at this point, so we call it GG.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Gun Wraithknights are bad.

Sometimes they’ll pop off and kill huge targets, but most of the time during the tournament I was hiding it behind terrain because I knew it would not survive the clapback. Because of this, I lost SO much action and trading potential, and I didn’t even realise till my game today.

Wraithguard are insanely good. They can really threaten the central objective with the overwatch, even into more durable armies like necrons (with Eldrad I was wounding T6 on 2s). Being durable also means you can deny Purge players some points, which is so crucial when you play fragile MSU into a purge army. The spiritseer not being part of the unit, and therefore able to do actions, is phenomenal.

Asurmen and 10 avengers in Aspect Host, I predict, are going to be a sleeper pick in this meta. As evidenced, sometimes Fuegan and the Dragons just completely bounce off an invuln or bad rolls, but 44 shots with lethals + sustained, possibly at AP2 with War Walker support, will take out damn near almost anything. They were also fantastic because their damage profile negates the -1 dmg of the C’Tan, and being S4 also makes them ideal into tough TEQs with -1 to wound.

The best thing about the Asurmen blob is the ability to move shoot move. I found this to be huge because it makes them a unit with so much trade-up potential… not because they’re cheap, but because you can get multiple activations across the game with them, without them just dying out in the open.

So yeah, thanks for making it to the end of the batrep. I think MSU Aspect Host still has the potential to play well into tough matchups like Purge disposition armies! I don’t have that many games of 11th under my belt yet, but I’m enjoying what we can still do. Even if our units are still mostly overcosted, I believe we do have many competitive options, and we have the movement and damage reliability in Aspect Host to work around it.

List Building First 500 points as a busy Dad

Hello everyone,

I want to start a small Eldar Force and have to start with 500 points since I don't have a lot of time with kids and all that jazz.

I mainly want to go for rule of cool, but still want ro build something that is at least a bit playable even at 500 points.

I don't have any experience with Eldar, but I thought about buying the following.

Lyhkis and 5 Warp Spiders, 1 Wraithlord, 5 Corsair Skyreavers and 5 Corsair Voidreavers

Would this work so i have some anti tank, some secondary scoring and so on or is this not working at all? I also don't know which detachment would make sense to learn Eldar at first.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

New Player Questions Is there some way to get Guardian legs and torsos?

I’m picking my way through the old combat patrol and it feels so weird to have so many heads just lying around?

If I had the bodies and legs I could make a unit of guardian defenders.

New Player Questions Can someone help me understand the faction a bit better?

I'm a Space Wolf player looking to start an Eldar army. I play kill team so the Exodites, Blades of Khaine, and the Harlequins (I understand that the box doesn't include the Shadowseer and the Death Jester and that they aren't tournament legal) are all interesting to me so that I can start playing something without an entire army list.

That being said. Can anyone either give me a run down or point me in the direction where I can find information on how building an army works? I've seen that you can play a Ynari list and include everything from Exodites to Harlequins, and some Drukhari (?) but can't field some things like the Avatar of Khaine? If I were to buy a few non-Craftworld units, can I play a Ynari list and just not field those for a regular Craftworld list in other games? I'm assuming it's similar to running chapter specific units in Space Marines that lock you out of specific detachments and certain units wouldn't benefit from some chapter specific rules based on keywords?

Is a combat patrol a good way of starting in the faction? Would any of the above kill team units be decent additions to an army if I wanted to start there for something I can play as a standalone before going all in on an entire army?

Where can I get info on or better understand color schemes?

Thanks in advance, and I'm sorry if this question gets asked a lot.

List Building What would you add to push this to 1k? Eldar Aspect list for Crusade

Thumbnail

I've only just started playing 40k and started with Tyranids in a Crusade. I think majority of my play will be in a Crusade/Narrative format. Looking to the future I keep coming back to Aspects. I love the stylising, the colours, each one having an individual role. What would be good to round out the initial list? Or is this spread too thin and would essentially do nothing?

Nothing big but they updated the app and cleared up some wording on Eldar stuff.

Windrider host detachment ability and unshrouded truth can now explicitly be used to ingress turn 1.

Sudden strike agile maneuver now triggers off ending a charge and lasts until the end of the turn.

What if both guardian types were one?

What are your thoughts is guardian defender and storm guardians were combined into a single type that had the best of both world:

- base equipment: shuriken Catapult, Shuriken Pistol and Close Combat weapons of Storm guardians.

- support platform has both gun and invulnerable save field

- weapon upgrades from the storm guardians, but the fusion guns and flamers only replace the Shuriken Catapult.

- keep sticky and maybe another ability.

GW did that with Orks. They didn't do it for the base intercessor. What are your thoughts? I don't think it it would change much but keeping them as is doesn't feel necessary either. To me it feels weird the basic assault troop is just so bad at this job. So making them into an all rounder would perhaps work a little better?
