Success after ectopic

July 13th I was having emergency surgery to remove my left tube and the baby growing inside it. I was 6w3d and we saw the heartbeat that morning. My only symptom was dark spotting since before I found out I was pregnant. The EPU were absolutely great & my recovery was quick. After the surgery the doctor showed me a picture and the “baby” was as large as my ovary! Seemed incredible to me that it hadn’t ruptured.

Following the surgery we skipped one cycle to let my body heal then started trying. We got pregnant on our second try (just like the first time). The anxiety since finding out has been intense but I didn’t have any symptoms.

This morning at 5w2d I had a scan and we saw the yolk sac and the very start of a fetal pole. The relief we feel is incredible. Also found out I ovulated from the side of my missing tube!

If I could go back and tell the version of myself from 3 months ago I would love to reassure her that all will be well. She was spiralling, imagining the very worst for her future fertility. But all really is well; the best scenarios you can imagine are as likely as the worst ❤️

Success story

Just wanted to share my experience for anyone who is experiencing an ectopic pregnancy & want to have a little bit of hope.

I got pregnant my first time in March 2025 & found out April it was ectopic. I had surgery but they kept my fallopian tube.

I ended up doing an HSG after & was told the tube was blocked.

Fast forward to July 2026 I had my rainbow baby.

I'm currently 3 months pp & just found out I'm having twins from my blocked tube side !

When to TTC after MTX - is 3 months outdated?

I've read so many different threads and all opinions are different. Even doctors are split on the answer..

I had MTX 9/3, by 9/12 my HCG was 0. 9/12 I restarted my prenatals and had a period-bleed (without ovulation) for 4 days.

I ovulated about 5 weeks later and am expecting a period 8/24. If I TTC next cycle, I will be ovulating 9-10 weeks after MTX (8 full weeks of prenatal) around November 7-15.

I originally felt comfortable with the decision to go for it (my OB gave me the green light), but my husband is still hesitant, and now I'm doubting myself.

Any advice or stories? What did your doctor say about this?

First IVF egg retrieval will be same week as 1 year anniversary of ectopic. I'm so anxious.

I (33F) had an ectopic rupture and right tube removal (first pregnancy -- no living children) November 6 2025. For a long laundry list of reasons including that I had a really difficult physical recovery post-rupture, we're just now going down the road of IVF.

I am very fortunate to have IVF insurance coverage now, but I will likely be moving jobs in March 2027, so we're trying to get the egg retrieval and embryo creation done ASAP while I still have the coverage. The expensive part of IVF is the egg retrievals/embryo creation process and we can cover paying out of pocket for the transfer later when we're ready. We're not going to do an immediate transfer.

I am eager and physically ready to get started, but after just getting off the phone with my fertility clinic the target date for my first egg retrieval is going to be on the date I had my emergency surgery last year. The coincidence of dates is just seriously messing with my mind. I know it's just a date and "superstition" but it feels like a signal from the universe that we shouldn't do it because something really tragic and dangerous happened on that same date last year.

Can anyone relate? Any tips for calming the anxiety? I've been in therapy and been working on EMDR for PTSD/anxiety, but important dates like this have just always resonated with me a lot. I'm having a hard time going into the retrieval with a calm positive attitude because of the added burden of the timing/time pressure. If anyone has experiences with these "anniversaries" that are hopeful would love to hear that too.

Im officially 4 weeks today. I feel like what should be a joyous occasion ans drowned by the reminder that only a couple of months ago 4 weeks and when I started feeling the ectopic pain. 5 weeks when I got the shot.

This go around I have been trying not to think of it at all. I have high hopes that this baby will grow healthy.

First period after MTX shot? How long after?

how long after your MTX shot did your first real period come? I had bleeding 3 days post MTX (only had to get one dose on 9/11). I still haven’t had my first real period and I am normally very regular with my cycles 28-30 days. do I need to reach out to my fertility doc?

First Pregnancy Ectopic Rupture

Had an ectopic rupture surgery < 12 hrs ago. Looking for recovery stories, hope, and future conception success stories to keep the will going!

Went in for a transvaginal ultrasound at 5w, last night, because I had been lightly bleeding for two straight weeks and had been testing positive with only small declines in my hCG. Everything happened so quickly, and now I’m lying in bed trying to process it all.

8pm last night, I had surgery for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy in my left tube. My husband told me that the first thing I asked the Dr post-op (which I don’t remember recall of the anesthesia grogginess) was, “When can I try to conceive again?”

Right now, my focus is on healing and recovering so I can get back to being my best self for another attempt at conception.

Looking for hope, solidarity, and motivation.
Please share your recovery journeys, any lifestyle changes that helped you heal, and your success stories with conceiving again after an ectopic pregnancy.

Ovulation pain after ectopic

Hi all, I had an ectopic 8/2026. MTX treatment. I was told I most likely have ENDO and that it was probably the cause. My question is- is it possible to have ovulation pain on the ectopic side even when I’m not ovulating on that side? My ectopic was on my right and this cycle I should be ovulating on my left. I had pain in my right like I was ovulating there no pain on left besides a couple twinges. Is this normal or has anyone else had this happen? Did I ovulate on my ectopic side two months in a row or is it normal to feel pain there even if I’m not ovulating there.

Unbearably painful periods

Hello everyone,

I had an ectopic about 1.5 years ago that was surgically removed. Ever since then my periods have been EXTREMELY painful and only on one side. I need help 😭

I don't tolerate birth control well but this pain is intolerable.

Could it be scar tissue causing this??

Pregnancy of unknown location

Hi everyone - was treated with methotrexate for possible ectopic pregnancy. HCG has been stable 190-220 over 5 weeks now. Nothing in uterus or what they can see in my tubes. Getting scared- hoping the shot works. Also hopeless bc it's been so long. Any similar situations?

Expectant Management success stories?

I’m currently 6 months postpartum so this entire experience has been a rollercoaster. Almost two weeks ago I started experiencing really bad cramps which I thought was my second PP period coming a week early. After a few hours of excruciating pain, I decided to go to the ER. Before I left, I took a pregnancy test because my symptoms matched that of an ectopic and of course got a big fat positive. After blood work and an ultrasound they confirmed a mass on my right ovary and my HCG was 88, at this point I would have been technically 3 weeks pregnant. After staying at the hospital for over 16 hours my pain and bleeding subsided and my HCG dropped down to 66. Based on this, the OB was satisfied with letting me go home and come back a few days later for a follow up blood test.
I went back the following Friday (was in ER Sunday-Monday). This time my levels had gone back up to 72. I realize these aren’t super high numbers, however the mass on my right tube was quite large with free fluid so the bigger picture was still concerning. I ended up back in the ER the following Sunday 48 hrs later and at this point my HCG went back down to 60. Now I’m waiting for a follow up assessment at the EPU but I’m experiencing some minor cramps and intermittent bleeding and brown spotting. I don’t know what to think but I’m hoping that everything will be okay. I’m exclusively breastfeeding my baby that won’t take a bottle so the hardest part of this whole thing has been the disruption to his routine and the unknown… looking to hear about others experience with expectant management. Did you bleed? How long did it take? Anything helps. So glad I found this sub… every woman here is a true warrior.

Interstitial Ectopic Pregnancy + Wedge Resection: How Long Did You Wait to TTC Again?

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to connect with others who have experienced an interstitial/cornual ectopic pregnancy that required a uterine wedge resection.

I had my surgery in July 2026 and my surgeon closed my uterine incision in three layers. I recently had an SIS and 3D ultrasound and thankfully everything looks great! My RE and OB are both comfortable with me trying to conceive again after three months of healing but I’m considering waiting the full six months to be cautious. As a note, I did conceive via IVF.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been through something similar:

How long did you wait after surgery before TTC again?
Did your doctor recommend a specific healing period (3, 6, or 12 months)?
If you became pregnant afterward, how did your pregnancy go?
Did you experience any complications related to your uterine scar, such as thinning, dehiscence, or rupture?

I’m trying to better understand others’ experiences as I decide when to move forward. I know everyone’s situation is different but hearing from women who’ve been through this would mean a lot. Thank you.

Is it normal to still feel this rubbish?

Hello, I had an ectopic pregnancy discovered about a week and a half ago. Luckily I was eligible for expectant management and my hcg was quite low and dropped over the next week. I had a repeat test yesterday but haven’t had results yet. On my US it showed internal bleeding and the doctor said my tube could be damaged but they wouldn’t know for certain without surgery. Since then I have felt worse physically: pressure feelings, pain when I wee, digestive issues, shooting pains and today I woke up and feel so dizzy. Is this normal even though (hopefully) my hcg levels are very low? They were 135 last week. Also, how do I ever find out if my tube is damaged? Will this affect my ability to conceive again or increase my risk of another ectopic? I just feel so anxious all the time and that I am being dramatic about these symptoms because my hcg is so low. Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing? Thank you.
