Why Do So Many Cultivation Donghuas Become Boring After the First main Arcs?

There seems to be this pattern in a lot of cultivation donghuas that the first arcs, be it Earth arc, planet arc, or simply the beginning of cultivation, are usually the most interesting ones.

It's the point where the MC has the least resources, which may sound counterintuitive, but I think it's because everything is fresh and the worldbuilding is familiar. They know the relationships between certain characters and what conflicts the main character has to face, and every step up in cultivation feels earned. Then, when the MC leaves the planet, everything changes.

Don't get me wrong, the progression, the techniques, the fights, the realms; it can all feel grandiose and impressive, seeing the MC face foes that can wipe entire planets bare-handed. But what else is there?

The MC visits an increasingly larger world, fights stronger enemies, joins new sects and organizations, finds new inheritances, collects better resources, and moves on to an even bigger world. Every name is different, their power level is now much higher, and their feats are more impressive, but overall, the same formula is followed, and it can get boring quite quickly. Even the worldbuilding can feel less interesting, because while the planet/everyday world the MC came from might have had warring factions, cool side-characters, and interesting conflicts to follow, in the higher realms, entire civilizations are nothing but a stepping stone for the MC's journey.

The same can be said for the supporting cast; the more interesting characters get left behind, and the new ones introduced in the MC's adventures in different worlds feel shallow, as the only purpose is to get their resources and then leave them for the next world. The bigger the MC gets, the less do I, the viewer, feel any connection to anyone besides the MC, who, while maybe getting stronger and more powerful, is just a progression to the next realm.

In my opinion, these early arcs are the most interesting parts of any cultivation donghua, because they force the author to make interesting worldbuilding and interesting conflicts for the MC to face. Once the MC can defeat anyone by himself, it's much harder to get invested in his journey, unless the author gets creative with new conflicts to introduce.

I do hope I'm wrong, because I think that most cultivation series have room to improve in other areas, rather than the sheer size of the universes and the power-level of the MCs. It's fun to explore new places with the MC, but I'd rather see a small planet fully explored than 10 different ones, when they're portrayed as just a means to an end

So I want to hear your thoughts;

do you think that these early arcs, where the MC can barely leave their world, are usually the best-part of any cultivation donghua?

Which donghuas in your opinion get better, once the MC leaves their world? Do you think this happens because of the source novels, the donghua adaptations, or cultivation stories in general? Because I think it's not a problem exclusive to donghuas, but one that plagues the source novels as well.

Bigger universes, stronger enemies, and bigger feats don't always mean bigger stories, and I think at some point we, the viewers, deserve to get invested in the world at hand, and not just the MC's journey to become stronger

They're some exceptions though like renegade immortal, road of mortals journey to immortality and personal I think perfect world early upper realm arc was more interesting than the first half

Identify This Donghua? Looking for a donghua I watched a year ago. Need HELP

Fellow Daoists, I am searching for a donghua in which the MC goes through a trial to enter a sect but fails and can only join as the outermost servant disciple who carry out menial tasks. He sleeps in a room with a bunch of other guys. The supervisor picks on him assigning only the most difficult tasks like completely filling up the water tanks for the sect use alone, collecting a large amount of wood and such. But, I think the MC finds a treasure that creates liquid and he drinks it and restores strength and completes all tasks. The supervisor gets suspicious and covets his treasures, and he also covets other people's materials and MC eventually kills him. There is also an elder who comes to select disciples for promotion.

Note:it is NoT RMJI

General Discussion RMJI pacing

Currently on episode 91, enjoying the world building and the slow paced journey. The only gripe I have is the pacing of the episodes itself, especially when there is fights... I don't know if my brain is already fried by tiktok but some fights are so unecessarily long imo, like nothing happening in over 2 minutes, sometimes it feels like I'm watching One Piece if you know what I mean.

Soul Land 2 Completion.

So I have watched Soul Land and its definitely one of my favourites due to Tang Hao AURA Farming and then there is a love story and other stuffs too.

But I haven't watched Soul Land 2 yet.

I was going to watch but then somewhere I read soul land 2 is going to be finished soon.

On MyAnimeList it shows SL2 has 182 episodes listed, so the story will be finished in 182 episodes or are we expecting SL2 Season 2.

Any word on Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains?

I'm starving for turn base games, so I just found this one.

Seems it had a rough localization and the battle rate was crazy.

Still worths the he chance?

Looking for people that actually played it.

Tks.

Where can i watch All Wishes Come True?

Hi!

So I've been dying for this to come out LONG before it came out in the cinemas, and when it did, it wasn't in my country (czechia) ;/

I tried emailing multiple cinemas but every one of them told me that they won't be playing the movie.

So will it be released anywhere besides on pirated apps or it being a recorded video in the cinema? I'd like to watch it with high quality and english (+chinese) subtitles.

Anyways thanks and have a good day!
