I'm a few years out now, and I'd say I'm more at peace than I was. The first year was rough, but the quiet eventually becomes something you appreciate.
Our problem was we wanted completely different lives in our early 30s and neither of us was willing to bend. No big blowup, just years of small compromises that added up to resentment. Amicable split, but still painful.
Physical needs I won't get into, but I'll say rediscovering yourself on your own timeline is underrated. Motivation comes from small things. I started reading again, walking more, just doing stuff I'd put off for years. Future plans are refreshingly boring. I want a small place with good light and a cat that doesn't hate me.
