I'm fed up with hopping đ
I have a questionâI imagine most people here "distro-hop" to explore or try out different distributions, but surely I canât be the only one who does it because Iâm just not satisfied, right? đ
About a year or so ago, I started taking my first steps with Linux on an Acer Nitro laptop, but it wasnât a great experience (I had to hunt for drivers on GitHubâlol). I tried out a few different distros (Nobara, CachyOS, Pop!_OS, Fedora), but I eventually gave upâmostly because of the laptopâs drivers (f*** Acer).
Iâve been trying out Linux for a few months now, with every intention of sticking with itâIâve really tapped into that rebellious, digital-anarchist spirit of the Open Source movement. Plus, my studies (in Web Development) require me to learn Linux in depthâsomething I was already keen to do. The problem is, Iâm just not satisfied with anything đ. Iâve spent weeks testing different options because, for me, it has to have it all: it needs to be stable (I donât have much time to spare, for starters), it has to work well with Nvidia hardware (RTX 2060) and gaming, and it must support the entire programming stack I need. On top of that, all of a sudden, Iâm running into issues with Ethernet on several distrosâit turns out that having a Realtek network card is now a problem (even on distros I had previously tested).
I donât mean to ask for the impossible, but Iâm tired and my ADHD is making it hard for me to think clearly; so, if itâs not too much trouble, I would really appreciate it if you could share some of your experience with me and suggest which distro you think might help me...
