Defending AI I used ai to help promote my upcoming EP & they insulted me

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m a musician. The track is human-written, human-performed, human-produced. I used AI to generate promo visuals because I can't afford to pay someone & wait for what I can essentially get in minutes even though I heavily edited it myself.

Then I posted in a music sub, a subreddit literally all about Synthwave which has major ties to retro-futurism. IT is supposed to be about embracing technology while adding in a human factor, which is what this was aimed to do in the first damn place.

The comments were the real story...

“Just don’t use visuals,”

“learn to make your own,”

“I’m never going to hear their music because of the AI artwork,”

“now you learned not to use AI slop.”

"Just use film footage".

They would literally rather me use copywritten film footage than make ORIGINAL ai assisted art.

Let that sink in. They would rather me steal someone else's hard work than take the time to make my own with ai assistance. Can someone make it make sense?!

They want me to learn to make it on my own just to please them? Even though I'm a musician? They want me to suddenly become a visual artist? HAH what a joke.

One person said they "can’t be sure the music isn’t AI because the video is AI."

AI is treated as contamination. The visual is not the song. Yet they concentrate on the packaging, not the gift.

I really feel like these people are going to cringe & delete their comments & posts when they see them in 5-10 years because of how ridiculous they sound & look.

I want to tell the people of this sub, to never stop. The best middle finger to these luddites is for us to continue to make what we make, despite the hate because there are people who enjoy what we make & many of us take a lot of time & put a lot of work into what we do.

Yet, I'm convinced a lot of these low IQ luddites use ai on the low. They just hide it.

Keep doing what you are doing, forget the haters. Ai ain't going anywhere & one day it will be the norm. We are just the brave pioneers using what is available to us & they are the self-righteous cavemen who are too afraid to forge anything with fire.

Keep it going!

So antis have been really triggered by this meme (the 2nd image)

and not only do they keep redrawing it, they get so mad about it which was the point of the OOP of the AI meme obviously 💀

but back to the subject! saying ''at least i don't need a bot to create!'' is literally elitist behavior, it's like saying ''oh u needed that to make it? i don't so i'm better then u!''

antis really think everything they draw is always better then all AI art.

Defending AI The Malfoid Trend and Creator really proves a lot that....

Post image
82 Upvotes

I just saw this post and the creator who did Malfoid trend videos, and guess what?

Not a single anti comment there ( for that specific post, maybe there was but it was like almost 0% exist).

This shows that people really don't care about if you create video with AI as long as the production result is high quality and you manage to capture the audience. I'd say the creator managed to drive the negativity in public and draw just people who really love it.

This really drives us motivation to just do whatever we want, leave out the anti and enjoy

AI Developments The technology behind today's AI boom is finally getting some recognition!

People often focus on wat AI might disrupt but its worth looking at the breakthroughs making it possible in the first place. Advances in computing, chips and accelerated computing have opened doors in scientific research that weren't practical before. Jensen Huang's role in helping build that foundation is a pretty significant part of the story.

Curious what everyone thinks. Are we giving enough credit to the infrastructure and engineering behind today's scientific breakthroughs or does most of the attention still go to the AI applications themselves?

Defending AI Seeing people btich about AI makes me want to use it more.

Whenever I see a self righteous comment about how the AI is killing the environment or I see the words AI slop etc, I instantly open up Claude fable on ultracode and one shot a large project.

I guarantee most of those people are hippocrates. They need to understand that the environmental impact will eventually decrease in the near future if we keep at the current rate. Their constant crying is actually contributing to slowing it down and causing a larger environmental impact.

- I used to hire developers and graphic designers. Developers used to charge a rip off price for their quality, and the graphic designers were also charging rip off prices. I'm not talking $15-$20, I'm talking quotes of $100+ for a simple shape.

- seeing people cry and bitch about AI and AI slop makes me happy. Seeing them cry about how it will take jobs will make me happy. In reality I see those people as lazy. Victorian candle lighters had to learn a new trade as soon as electricity came in. These people need to learn to adapt their skills.

- a lot of the people I see bitching and crying tend to be the low quality bunch that charge high and produce poor work. It's funny watching them complain.

AI made me go from $0 to enough to live comfortably. These people need to learn to adapt.

The same people crying and bitching are the same people that buy my vibecoded tools and add-ons lmao. Ty ✌🏻

Like seriously, they got a new version of the EGL, it's on Linux as well, why bitch about some filter text at the bottom that no one might care about?

I usually hide these types of posts from my feed, but I just have to show this one.

Defending AI Polluting the dataset

Every now and then someone mentions surveillance. Internet surveillance exists almost 20 years now. Using AI almost 10.

User data has been collected and sold since the technology allowed it. Everything that was free, social media first and foremost, was free in order to gather user data. Privacy regulations and policies didn't exist until recently. Terms of service were written in order to allow those companies to collect and sell data, and users unknowingly consented because that was required to use the platform. Legally, there was no "theft".

Then commercial AI came. We already know it was trained on available content from the Internet, although the exact datasets were never disclosed. User data became polluted with AI content. This content can't be used to train AI further. Also, fantasy AI lands no longer disclosed faces, homes, connections, places, purchases and all types of personal information that made a dataset valuable.

Then anti-AI crowd appeared to police the Internet.

Coincidence?

Defending AI I'm so tired of being attacked for using AI to express my special interests.

I just need to vent a little... -.-

I'm autistic, and my special interests can get REALLY intense. Unfortunately, they're often incredibly niche, too.

When I get into something, I get REALLY into it. I create entire stories around it, develop characters, obsess over tiny details, spend hours researching and refining things, and sometimes work on a project for weeks. AI helps me writing it... That's the first problem... :/

And now, thanks to AI, I can also bring some of those ideas to life. I can turn scenes from my stories into little videos, give my characters faces and voices, and finally SEE things that previously only existed in my head. That's a dream for me to finally come true...

I'm not trying to make money. I'm not pretending I animated everything by hand. I'm just a fan having fun with something I love.

And sometimes, after spending hours or even weeks working on something, I'm so ridiculously happy with the result that I want to share it with people who love the same game.

But then I post it in a community dedicated to that game, and BAM.

"AI slop."

"Waste of space."

"Nobody cares."

"Stop trying."

It honestly hurts. In the most groups I am not even allowed to post it... b/c it's AI... :<

Not because everyone has to like my work. They absolutely don't. But because nobody even seems interested in the story, the characters, or the thought behind it. All they see is AI, and apparently that's enough to dismiss everything.

I don't have a film crew, actors, or friends willing to recreate my stories. AI is the only tool I currently have that makes this possible.

And I'm so tired of feeling like I have to hide something that brings me so much joy.

I just want to share my silly little passion projects with people who might understand why I love them.

Why does that have to be such a terrible thing?

Defending AI I hate how antis think all gen AI users are not legit artist?

Post image
19 Upvotes

So ive been an artist pretty much since I was a child. I draw with pencil and then to MS paint. then Gen AI came and man its a game changer. It turns my art into whatever is in my head I cannot do.

Like, I have this scene in my head, of a blade breaking in half by another blade strike, then i came up with an idea what if this blade has a blood. Gemini and I had made basic plot concepts but nothing clicks for me, but it helped me layout how this living  but "non-sentient" blade work.

Then I then drew this scene in my head, and ask Gemini to turn it into a real anime scene and it did what is in my mind almost aka the pic. of course it hallucinated and change the skin tone of the main guy from brown to white lolz.. but anything else it did better than i ever could

I hate how people are so dismissive with Gen AI cuz what they mostly see is slop form being chronically online discarding the fact it can be used responsibly to way to assist you in creative work!

Wtf! Im an artist way before AI, and im suddenly not cuz i feed my sketches to AI? Antis make no sense

I am very well aware of AI slop, and imo this is far from slop cuz I legit spent time drawing my own first instead of just prompting.

Of course, what I generate is mostly for me , If i do post straight up prompted gen ai images, (i dont think theyre art, its very subjective) I only post them on ai-allowed subreddits like this here lol

Luddite Logic With Generative A.I. it gives out the Opportunity for Kids who love cartoons and want to create thier own animated series, and the Threat to Animators at Animation Studios who will get replaced by A.I.

Okay. So, there are 2 ways with A.I. It can either help people in their bedrooms who has no art skills help create and make their own cartoons much faster without much effort. or it can replace Animators at Animation Studios. Now, I know that I Heard that Generative A.I. doesn't have the human touch, however, the people who are Tyoing the things to make A.I. Generate the art is using it. so technically, it does have the human touch too. Just the person typing the things down for A.I. to Generate. Not the person drawing themselves. A.I. is a Tool. Not a Machine to Replace Humans. It's kinda a on the one hand gold on the other hand painful agonizing death thing from the road to el dorado. A.I. Is that kind of thing.

Sloppost/Fard Do you have a collection of meme you guys can share whenever Anti comes at us?

Like whenever anti come at us, being invasive, and then say "slop" this "slop" that, instead of wasting time I would rather focus on my duty and I will just post one meme to conclude and hurt them back with meme because it's wasting our time.

Last I check there is ABSOLUTELY 0 benefit to argue with extremist anti at all. If there are good common sense anti, I will give a slight chance as long as they are polite.

Anyway, one meme that I like is this.

Any others?

AI Developments Would you have started your creative project if AI tools weren't available?

I've always enjoyed creating things, but one of the hardest parts of starting a big project is realizing how much time, money, and skill it takes to bring an idea to life.

For me, that project is CardPackHunter, a free digital trading card game where people can open packs and collect cards.

You can find it here if you're curious: https://cardpackhunter.com/

A project like this needs a lot of artwork. Every new pack brings opportunities for new creatures, characters, and designs. As someone building this as a hobby, I simply don't have the budget to commission hundreds of illustrations.

AI tools have made it possible for me to experiment with ideas and continue developing the project instead of having to put it aside because of those limitations.

I know there's a lot of debate about AI-generated art, and I understand why people have different views on it. I also appreciate what human artists bring to creative projects. My hope is that if my website eventually earns enough to support itself, I'll be able to commission artists to create original artwork.

For now, AI is one of the tools that allows me to keep learning, building, and enjoying the creative process.

I'd be interested to hear other people's experiences:

  • Have AI tools helped you start something you wouldn't otherwise have attempted?
  • Do you see AI as a useful stepping stone for creators with limited resources?
  • If your project eventually became financially sustainable, would you invest in working with human artists or other creatives?

I'm interested in hearing different perspectives. I'm not expecting everyone to agree with me, but I think it's worth discussing how these tools affect what ordinary people can create.

Thanks for reading!

When antis overreact

So basically this anti is mad that another anti IRL asked a restaurant over the menu being AI and then telling their parents they were not going to eat there,

and now all antis are mad that the parents called them a crybaby, and that other people were defending the parents,

tbh in this situation the parent were right, who demands others they aren't going to eat somewhere over a AI menu? 😂

u don't have to eat there sure, but u can't demand others to do the same ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Sub Meta My Criticism Of AI Art Was Too Harsh, I'm Sorry

Earlier today, I made a virtuous post about how AI art can never be recognized as real art. And my post was full of inflammatory stuff that I implied. For example, if being an artist only requires physical objects to be put together, then photography, digital, sculpting, and everything else, may as well not be art either. And that was not my intention. Not to mention my own backstory conflicted with my practice nowadays, if I'm the same person who's against AI art, why do I still use it to create summer camp Island fanfic today. It's because in some twisted way I still think it's an expression of Art. Making a prompt is an expression art, and the picture reflects my inner mind.

I find myself to be completely responsible for everything in that post, because when I created that post I wasn't being honest with myself, I wasn't even trying to think about the arguments I was making. And during that argument I treated everyone in this community like lazy people who don't have any creative instinct at all. And that's where I failed.

You may not take the time to read this apology but if you did I want to let you know I am completely in the wrong for making that stupid post. And I'm sorry for irritating so many people. I'm going to commit myself to making better arguments whenever I post anything. That's what I should have done from the beginning. I am not a professional artist, and that doesn't make me a critic of any kind of art. You guys get to decide what you consider art, does it motivate you, does it inspire you, does it make you get up and do something? If so then that is art, and I'm not going to sit here and dismiss other people's creative vision.
