Question/Advice Cloud storage

What would be the best , most affordable temporary cloud storage option? My old laptop is dying on me (disk error) and I need to back it up just long enough to be able to afford an external drive with some decent storage on it. I’m big on privacy, I know I may need to pay a little because all the free options I’ve found have a small limit of data and I would rather not have all my data so scattered , I’d rather be able to keep it all in one (safe) place. Money is really tight right now so I’d really love suggestions if anyone has any

I saw someone mention spacebyte.in here and I started using it.

It's complicated to subscribe since they seem to be only intended for India and show prices in that currency, but it works fine in Europe after I managed to get a payment sent through razorpay.

Uploading and downloading is only through a web browser, no command line tools supported. But you can't beat the price, though. After conversion it's $3 per month for 2TB of storage.

You don't say how much space you need but keybase has 250GB free.

I'm sorry, did you say… 250gb?

Yes.

I would prefer at least 1 TB since I have some other things elsewhere I’d want to store temporarily if I’m paying a subscription anyway , but this sounds like a great free option!

Idrive has a 10TB for $5 a year (not monthly, a year) for the first year promo.
Overage usage is $250/TB though (billed by the GB iirc) so be sure you can stay under.
I've never seen a laptop with much storage though so that's probably plenty.

Do you know if you can just cancel it before another year renewal if I got everything moved over by the time it ends?

Yes, I actually recommend turning off auto renewal in your use case. Notably they won't let you turn it off right after sign up you have to wait a few days before it shows up as an option.

Also notably if you disable auto renewal you won't get any warning once the 1 year is up, you'll just get an email that everything has been deleted once it runs out.

As an Apple user, my go-to cloud storage is Apple iCloud
