Adam Rubin, author of Dragons Love Tacos, is the co-owner of Art of Play (the store that pulled a Pretty Woman on Kelly Clarkson). I saw a clip of him defending the shop but the connection didn’t click for me until now. 🤯

What was Prince Hans plan if Anna said no to his proposal?

Anna obviously says yes which plays perfectly into his plans to take the throne and we see he isn't above regicide when he tries to end the royal bloodline multiple times. When he proposes they happen to be on a very picturesque and romantic waterfall... which is near a very high and precarious cliff ledge...

I believe if Anna said no he would have pushed her to her death and tried to marry Elsa.

New Clifford BLOWS

We are finally off our year-long Mouse a Cookie kick and so we tried Clifford. We’re watching and I’m like wow this is not like how I remember. Turns out, there’s newer ones. After a little searching I found the older ones and they’re just as quaint as I remember. Crisis averted. Now I just need to prepare to watch ONLY Clifford for approximately one year.

If you’re looking for Beginner Books to read to your children, my advice is to get the hardcover editions, not the board book editions.

One of my favourite books when I was little was “Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb,” and I was lucky enough to read the hardcover before I read the board book. My favourite part of that book was the “Hello, Jack, hello, Jake” part. You can imagine my shock when I read the board book and that part was completely removed.

I also had the board book edition of “Dr. Seuss’s ABC”. In that version, each section begins with “Big [letter], little [letter], what begins with [letter]?” I was amazed when I first read the hardcover, which has a lot more variety. For example, the entry for O is “O is very useful. You use it when you say, Oscar’s only ostrich oiled an orange owl today.” The entry for X also uses words that end with X and therefore use the “ks” sound that is usually associated with X, while the board book uses “X-ray” and “xylophone”.

These are just two examples, but in general the hardcovers are just so much more fun to read.

Every night my toddler asks me to read A Haunted Ghost Tour in my Town. It is cute. We point out each characters costume. BUT WHAT IS THIS RACCOON?! My toddler says it’s French fries but I am not convinced. It is driving me insane

Did the words to Raffi's Baby Beluga change in the last few days on Spotify, or am I losing it?

I listen to Baby Beluga more often than the average adult, and I could have sworn that the lyrics were "goodnight baby goodnight" when the moon is shining and the stars are out. But within the last couple days, the Spotify version has changed to "goodnight little whale goodnight".

Can anyone corroborate this, or did I always mishear it until this week?

Spidey repeats storylines so kids can experience rewatching the same Spiderman like their parents did

I don't know if anyone noticed that new Spidey is almost entirely retellings of old Spidey episodes - hiccups make someone's power bug out, Aunt Mays house gets floated by doc Oc, black cat steals a superheroes tech and doesn't understand its power.

This is clearly intentional. They're trying to give kids that feeling of getting excited to see the same Spiderman story multiple times, like their parents had with Tobey Maguires Spiderman and Andrew Garfields Amazing Spiderman.

The new Ariel on Disney Junior

So initially I was watching it thinking it happened after the movie in chronological order. Ursula is like a cool aunt now (I can buy a redemption story arch), and Ariel's dad is cool with her running out and collecting human things. But at the end of the Little Mermaid movie she keeps her legs, she is no longer a mermaid.

Which means it must come before the movies, but then Ariel's dad is cool with her collecting human things? Also Ursula Isn't an outcast. Isn't that the plot of the whole movie? So it got me thinking, what if king Triton was so distraught that his daughter left to go live on land, he had ANOTHER daughter and named her Ariel too? Anyways I need your thoughts on this one.

Forgetting the fact that they make you read left to right top to bottom ACROSS A TWO-PAGE SPREAD, forgetting the fact that it claims commercial airliners land and take off from Prince Wednesday’s backyard, forgetting the fact that at the end they’re like “sometimes trolley can even be a boat” with no further explanation…this “he says” on the first page sends me to the absolute moon for some reason.

Icelandic kids books are wild.

We’re using 3 languages at home, I can’t read Icelandic at all so I have to use a translate app to read some of our books to my kids. It pops up with some crazy shit sometimes! It does give me a good laugh trying to figure out where it’s all gone wrong. ….or is this story just absolute filth?

In The Berenstain Bears, Papa Bear is seen beating a rug for not following the Politeness Plan. This is shown to be the penalty for pushing or shoving, so apparently he's a domestic abuser.

Nightmare Before Christmas and belief in Santa

Not a conspiracy per se, but I'm wondering if the scariness of Nightmare Before Christmas is dependent on whether a kid believes in Santa. My kids never believed in Santa (Jewish family/no Christmas traditions), which means Santa was as fictional as Jack and therefore threatening Santa was just threatening a fictional character. But if you actually believed in Santa and thought of him as actually responsible for a significant part of Christmas, those Santa scenes must hit differently.

Nightmare was the favorite and only movie in our household for quite some time as my younger kid was terrified of any movies where families are separated or there's too much rule-breaking, which (checks notes) is literally ever other children's movie. Eventually we limited Nightmare to between Halloween and the end of winter break for parental sanity.

Creative Galaxy Theory: Juju is a traumatized orphan

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I think the main reason we never see or hear from Juju's parents in Creative Galaxy is because they were mauled to death by lions and she just so happened to witness it when she was around a toddler, and overtime she learned to live independently (and considering rent doesn't exist here, she doesn't really have to make a living). This is especially apparent in part 1 of "Lunar New Year" when she shows a strong aversion towards the lion mask and even flinches at the sight of it; which is a sign of someone being deeply traumatized. This poor girl :(

Ruby is only 7!!??!!

That's it. My entire thought. I thought that Ruby was probably like a preteen. Still should not be the sole caretaker of her toddler brother, Max, but at least double digits. But on tonight's episode, Ruby talks about the "older boy" who is 7.5. Someone needs to call CPS on this family!
